  • I think I'll take my mom here next time she visits. She is a photographer and we once made dollhouses together :)

  • Lovely!

  • I really enjoyed this.I am a dollhouse collection. Thanks for having this on here.

  • I'm speechless!

I heard about this museum from "TheDollhouseMuseum" from a comment on a one of my train museum slide shows. I expected just a room with doll houses... this is sooooo much more!

Decades ago I had been to Danville and didn't remember it was that close.

It looks like a photographers' dream and I hope to make it sometime.

  • Abby Malik just did a nice blog on the museum, which you can read by googling Why I am Glad I finally went to a dollhouse museum. Feel free to leave comments on her blog! : )

  • There is also a wonderful selection of antique jewelry & tile at the museum and loads of dollhouse furniture to go in the dollhouses. The furniture make great little nicknacks too.

  • @TheWritermouse Thanks! The museum shop also has a large selection of miniature furniture and accessories for sale. Including a bargain shelf with no item over 5.00!

  • You have to see this place to believe it. Whatever you think a "dollhouse museum" is, this is WAY MORE! Kids, parents, grandparents -- everyone will love it. Must see!

  • @democraticwing We've added a huge number of displays to the collection since you wrote this comment-- and added a hugely stocked miniatures store! : ) Lori

  • It is a cool museum. I've been there. Am telling my friends about it. It's pretty close to Lexington and also the Pleasant Hill Shaker Village in Kentucky. Worth making the trip to see all three and the beautiful surrounding blue grass countryside.

  • The character dolls are my favorite. They give the exhibits such realism and a true portrait of life in those times. I can imagine myself there sharing in their activities. What a wonderful way to spend a day.

  • As a 24 year-old guy who never had an interest in dolls--or history for that matter--the Great American Dollhouse Museum is a must see for anyone traveling through Central Kentucky. There's simply nothing like it.

  • If you have not been to the Great American Dollhouse Museum--drop everything now and GO! Put aside any notions you have about what a dollhouse museum might be and prepare to be amazed. This is a rich, historical, magical experience. I take everyone who comes to Danville. Don't miss meeting the curator, Lori Kagan-Moore. She is a wonderful character herself!

  • @kyscrabble You can be sure of finding me there. It's a rare day that I'm away from the front desk. : ) Lori

  • I loved this preview of your museum and really look forward to being able to visit it soon.

  • This is wonderful! Keep up the great work, Lori!

Can't wait to see the museum in person.

  • @sjfiet Looking forward to your visit. We're open Tuesdays through Saturdays 11 to 5:00. Thanks for the nice feedback!
