What is the Emerging Church?

The debate here really isn't about Emergent. The debate is about whether one believes the Bible...every word...or not. Some of us do, while it seems many others do not. Emergent wouldn't be an issue if the Church (both individually and collectively) held to the Scriptures. The issue is the lack of regard for the Word of God. History shows us that is exactly how heresy gets traction.

I'm not sure where Eric gets his ideas of Emerging as feelings and emotions over truth, but if he'd actually read Robert Webber, John Armstrong, Brian McLaren, John Burke, he would soon learn that what he is preaching are stereotypes. Eric is preaching Platonic Dualism, his theory of knowledge is skewed and overtly modern.

Remember TRUTH is in the person of Jesus. W/ regard to the bible truth is NOT an abstract. Its personal it is... Jesus.

The Emergent Church is God's way of reaching people in the 21st Century. There is nothing heretical about it. The truth is still taught. It's narrow minded people who have eyes but do not see and ears but do not hear, they are the ones who oppose the emergent church. Too bad.

I'm acquainted with the passages you cite. I am a disciple of Jesus of Nazareth. You apparently know little about the emergent church. If you haven't read Brian McLaren, for instance, I suggest that you do. His writing is wonderful. Anyone who suggests he is heretical is ignorant or even stupid.

The "emerging Church" is a 21st century term. There's nothing in the Bible about abortion either, but I'll bet you still have interest in the subject. The emerging church is entirely biblical. However, it is not a national movement by one organization or anything like that, so someone might try to screw it up.

The bottom line is that God will reach many new people, and like I said, it is thoroughly Biblical.

Read Jer. 1:5, "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you,and before you were born I consecrated you;I appointed you a prophet to the nations." Of course, the emerging church is not too concerned with scriptures, that is why they use historical criticism.

@s I am very much against the emerging church and do not see many saved in there(though some I think are saved and decieved).I say this for one reason-educate yourself on the various teachings and teachers for often times in the scriptures with the prophets and apostles preached against those whom were decieving by showing their teachings were in error opposing the scriptures-Galatians being a goodexample. I say this forone reason-that we all would grow and snatch some from hell/emergent church.
