Firstly, scoring goals is an important part of an attacking midfielder's role because apart from the most prolific strikers, most can't average more than one every two games- so midfielders need to supplement that. Secondly, the amount of assists he gets obviously means he has the passing ability and vision to match any other midfielder. Put aside club rivalry.

Well that was wrong anyway- Raul only has that many Champions League goals through sheer number of appearances. But that doesn't relate to the Lampard situation at all- Lampard consistantly has some of the best concrete attacking output (goals and assists) of any player, therefore he is a top attacking midfielder. He doesn't just get it from appearances.
My favourite Juve player of all time. Might not have had the format of Zidane or Del Piero, but he was alway such a hard worker. he would leave blood, sweat and tears on every pitch he stepped on to.
I remember that match against Real Madrid.,,, 1st half he could get nothing going and it was difficult to watch. 2nd half he was like godlike. He was everywhere and noone could stop him and that is a rare feat. Pure determination and will!

@987costa Honestly I'm a massive Manchester United and Paul Scholes fan but Lampard just IS the complete attacking midfielder right now. Firstly, scoring goals is an important part of an attacking midfielder's role because apart from the most prolific strikers, most can't average more than one every two games- so midfielders need to supplement that. Secondly, the amount of assists he gets obviously means he has the passing ability and vision to match any other midfielder. Put aside club rivalry.

@987costa But his output is so immense how can you not appreciate that? The only way he could be more complete is if he was faster and had more tricks on the ball, but lots of attacking midfielders don't play that way because everything else they do is so good. Lampard is on par with Xavi at least (counting still playing players) as the top attacking midfielder at the moment. Who would you say is and why?

@chesterinoaussie .first of all.yes he is very valuable to a team with his goals and assists. however how on earth is he on par with xavi?xavi is a better passer,can dictate the game,has better vision,creativity,,etc. how on earth is lampard complete?gerrard is more "complete"than him.he can tackle,head, takes set plays,pass,good technical ability,etc.another ex would be raul.sure hes the all time top scorer in the champions league but does that mean hes better than ronaldo,rvn or romario?no.

@987costa maybe we should just agree to disagree but I think most commentators would put Lampard up there with the best attacking midfielders in the world right now, maybe excluding international form. If he is getting assists then that obviously means he can pass because he is the person that provides the ball for the scorer? And Gerrard hasn't really hit his top form for almost 2 years now. I wish he would play better but he doesn't. Raul has nothing to do with it either- he's a striker.

@987costa actually you kind of did, and I understood what you meant- that the amount of goals you score doesn't mean you are the best. Well that was wrong anyway- Raul only has that many Champions League goals through sheer number of appearances. But that doesn't relate to the Lampard situation at all- Lampard consistantly has some of the best concrete attacking output (goals and assists) of any player, therefore he is a top attacking midfielder. He doesn't just get it from appearances.

My favourite Juve player of all time. Might not have had the format of Zidane or Del Piero, but he was alway such a hard worker. he would leave blood, sweat and tears on every pitch he stepped on to.
I remember that match against Real Madrid.,,, 1st half he could get nothing going and it was difficult to watch. 2nd half he was like godlike. He was everywhere and noone could stop him and that is a rare feat. Pure determination and will!

Krasic is really nothing like this guy. Nedved was a brilliant winger/passer/advancer but also long-shot specialist. Krasic has one long goal I know of. Not too sure about this guy. At least he'll bring in some much needed tenacity and pace.

Nedved was one of the best football players! His physical & stamina was incredible! Once I watched a friendly match of Juventus @ stadium. He started to run on the field from practice & never stopped running til the end of the game. No one could miss his blond price-cut head on the field! I also admire his great character that he remained in Jeventus with Del Piero, Buffon, Trézéguet whereas Cannavaro, Zambrotta left when Jeventos demoted to Serie B. Thank you so much for this awesome video!!!
