Look at ancient maps of the Persian empire -- they include every part of Kurdistan.

What are you talking about? Kurds aren't Persians. They are Iranic. Big difference - and their language is closer to Armenian (another Iranian language) then Persian. And according to scholars such as Vladimir Minorsky the Median Empire are the ancestors of the Kurds, while the Achaemenid Empire is the ancestors of the Persians.
But their culture is more close to the Balkanian cultures, such as Serbian, Bulgarian etc.

Azu or Hizan (near Lake Van) by the name Kurti or Kurkhi, similar to KURD. anyways, isn't what your asking, similar to me asking: what makes Germany, Germany; or India, India. What I'm implying is that you can't ask why a country is what it is. There are documents referring Kurds to that region.

As for archeological findings in Northern Iraq, they're are plenty. I just recently paid a visit to the ancient city of Zakho, just miles away from the Iraqi-Turkish border, and I will tell you that I was dumbfounded when I explored the area. There was an old bridge, most likely built during the Roman Empire; it looked quite similar to ancient aqueducts

It mainly consists of Kurdish people, as well as Assyrians, Armenians, and sometimes people from different creeds of religion. The Kurds are an Indo-European people that have a language and rich culture similar to that of the Persians and to a larger much larger extent, Eastern Europeans. Unfortunately, they have not yet felt independence or tasted freedom.

I dont know, but they can answer about the generations with help from cuneiforms and lot of other help aid. I dont claim that Wikipedia is 100% correct, but lot of modern information about survivng history today and news from 1900s.

@goflamesgo93 No, but lot of things is true on wikipedia, but not all.
There is diffrent models wich some peoples believes on. Atheists believes in their modell wich they think have right about the year, but about existences by before and after its can be same. without they believe the years. Even bookd wich is atheists signed explaining in their way of model. its difficult, but archeologists have their own believes of models and morals to believe without religions method and atheist method.

Wikipedia is easy way to show peoples about what informations there is about lot of things. Mostly of the thing are from facts book wich is done writed on Wikipedia by peoples wich are intressted by the subject they wrote about with mostly of the correct headline from fact books. I can prove you lot of facts on Wikipedia wich is also wroten in fact book I can read same information from.

You can found out that cordyene were a native people.
Kurds are mixed people with ancestor as Hurrians, Elamites, Gutian/sumerian and medes. I can proove you that before assyrians empire were over states wich were owned by native people, assyrian land were in south Iraq as neighbour to sumerians to west. Assyrian empire was conquested over native peoples homeland.

@goflamesgo93 Now I have understanded more about cradle civilisations over Mesopotamia. The first people were Sumerians, Then later elamites to the east of land of sumeria, then after akkadians in west of Sumeria while also Hetites and hurrians over north Mesopotamia as natvie people. Asyrians were native people in Babylon as most north in "Ninawa" while the lanf of Karda were owned by a native people according sumerians cuneiforms. Assyrian empire was over those conquested states by assyrians.

@goflamesgo93 Semitic is also about peoples. Arabs are semitic people, that means they have their root in semitic history. Steal, sumerians were not semitic people. Semitic is about also generations and group of language. Arabs are related with assyrians.
Sumerians does not exist today, so kurds have their closest relation with Indo iranic people, thats becasue of medes, but root of kurdish history is sumerians. Thats because that only knon that Gutians kings had sumerians names.
