@ thomasbyrne1 - There is evidence outside the Bible that the Romans knew that Jesus was being worshipped as a God. This is officially documented in a letter from the roman governor of bithynia. And it is consistent with today's oldest manuscripts.
@ thomasbyrne1 - Perhaps you should actually look into whether in fact these textual variants actually call into question the major doctrinal claims of Christianity. The fact of textual variation does not mean the meaning of the text was substantially altered. In fact most of the variants are the equivalents of typographical and spelling errors.
@kgross102464 Yes it does. It absolutely does. How can Judas die in 2 different ways? In ACTS and LUKE. He can't ,. How can chapters of MATHEW be word for word the same as MARK unless they both copied from another text.
God gives us a choice to either believe and accept that he is our Christ and Saviour..so if you decide not to thats ok too..thomasbryn1..........God is not like man, He does not think like us , is ways are not man`s ways so we can never ubderstand Him..but i believe He is there.
how can you be sure. don't you ever think he isn't there. can you share anything that is real in your experience that can be shared. I am very much unsure of this and feel that it is wrong to be so sure of something ( just because of faith)that seems so invisible and undetectable
When you ask "how can you be sure", I ask, "what makes you so unsure?" I could tell you about my horrific car accident 2 years ago -- how I somehow managed to survive and not sustain long-term injury: if science were the rule of law, I'd be severely maimed but miracles happen, and I praise the Lord for that. All things are possible for him who believes. Life presents circumstances beyond our understanding; it is the curiosity of a childlike faith that brings us closer to Truth. Keep seeking =)
i am glad you have had such a blessed experience. Can I ask what you feel is the reason that many people die from car accidents everyday and are not saved? Is that proof for god' not existence? if you conclude that it is not and it simply a case that this is random chance experiences for those people , Then you must conclude that your own experience is equally random , albeit on the fortunate side . ihowever ,Didn't science deserve at least a little thanks fro the medical assistance you had?
Alot of the time we're not [[: We can't muster faith out of thin air. The bible says that faith in God, comes from God. So alot of the time, the fact that we have faith at all... is an assurance he's there [: Every single day of my life God walks with me, whether i want him to or not. And every now and then he really is there. His love is a substance that can't be mistaken. Trust me, talk to God a little and he'll talk back [:
thomasbryn1, Im sorry you have been hurt and are still hurting. To believe in God is a choice we all have. With that said, when you die, where are you going? I would challenge you to read the bible, if you can find anywhere in the bible that contradicts itself then please show me, but, you wont. God is real and is alive in me. When you stand at the judgement seat of God, will he say "Well done my child", or will he say, "depart from me for I never knew you" Thomas you have been prayed for today
I will be happy to send you some contradictions from the Bible to you .daren't post them here it seems I am being red handed with a down thumb every time I post. How about just Jesus' lineage to DAVID .There are 2 different lineages in the gospels with different numnber of descendents between himself and KIng David. Which one is correct?
Gospels: Matthew 1:117 and Luke 3:2328. Each traces the ancestry of Jesus back to King David, to show his fulfillment of prophecy regarding the Christ. and each are different..also each refer to JOSEPH as the source ..funny thought he was born of a virgin
I have asked myself this often too-why Joseph why not Mary. I guess because it was relevant to the Jews at the time, who the lineage goes back to when it comes to the father. I think as Jesus came from God it doesn't really matter ;) To answer the question: The explanation I found was that one lineage is the lineage of the heirs to the throne and the other is the lineage of priesthood (as in the "real" parents). Both of them trace Joseph back to David. It is said that Mary comes from David too!
Have you asked your self why the EGUYPTIAN book of the dead is very close to the ten commandments given by MOSES and that the slaves would all recognize it as the same ?
Well, I didn't even know what the Johannine comma was, before I looked it up. I'm not really worried that this was inserted, as it still doesn't change the fact that Jesus died for me and my sins. And no - I have never asked myself that about the 10 commandments - as all they do is show me that I am a sinner and need Jesus. Sadly, I don't speek greek nor can I read it - so I have to trust the holy spirit to lead and guide me...
The BIBLE of JOHN MILL of 1707 cites 30,000 additions and marginal changes ..they are all bsed on the earliest GREEK texts that were rediscovered by him. These sorts of additions were added by the early church to support their false claims about JESUS ..i.e virgin birth, deity, etc etc ..before you believe I urge you to look into the TRUTH about the origin of the BIBLE
@thomasbryn1 If you actually read the text in Matthew 1:16 it states Jacob was the father of Joseph the husband of Mary, by whom jesus was born,.... the whom is referring to Mary who bore Jesus. And if you actually read Matthew 1:18 it says .... Mary had been betrothed to Joseph, before they came together she was found to be with child by the Holy Spirit. This states she was a virgin and your conclusion was a biased reading on your point to try and disprove Christianity.
@tawco09 You speak as if I haven't read or studied the BIBLE . Drop that straight away as I assure you i have. What are you referring to here? My original point was about the 2 different lineages, unless you are referring to an older one that I have forgotten? What is your point?
thomas, I would highly recommend you doing more research on these scriptures. It is clear that there was more than one "Joseph" in the bible, but there was only one Joseph, husband of Mary. As far as believing wether Jesus was born of a virgin or not, the bible makes it very clear. I would also have to fully agree with the statement made by munopah 8 months ago. If you decide to not belive, its your choice. I do pray that you will receive the truth though.
I have studied the Bible , and i recommend that you do some research as well, the John Mill Bible of 1707 would be agood start. The lineagses refer to JOSEPH JESUS FATHER .read them again and tell me they don't.The truth needs to be found through looking at the FACTS not ignoring the sources. The Bible is contradictory and badly sourced.
dont argue ppl, aruguing does not bring glory to god ><

2 thomasbryn1 - The 2 descriptions of Judas' death are not in contradiction. They are independent testimonies that have been reconciled.
