@kingi6030 he writ this version but it can be disputed where it was originated from for example in Te Arawa its nga wai o Rotorua and the song represented Hinemoa swimming to her loved one Tutanekai on Mokoia island. The thing with Maori is we copy each other's stuff alot such as utaina mai and Toia mai haka pohiri (powhiri) that we forget where it really originated from. All our arguments are biased towards our iwi being the authors but we will probably never agree to who composed it first

Yes, I know but you are able to substitute Rotorua for Waiapu. This song has alot of versions but because I know that Waiapu is more commonly used I put the substitution Rotorua in brackets. It has been changed many times for all the different parts of New Zealand.

Those will be words that didn't exist in Maori language until colonization. There are several words that did exist that also have these englishized versions as well though.

Actually many Māori words are taken from english language, because in traditional times, they didnt have paper, so didnt need a word for it, nore pens, or rings. Its just like how English take words form the Greek and so on.
