With that statement I totally agree. I raced NHRA Stock, and Super Stock in the '60's and saw a couple of very quick Swiss Cheese Catalinas. A real crowd pleaser was Burlingame Pontiac's 4 gear 421Catalina 2+2 on 8" rubber, that would hike the left front in first gear. VERY impressive. And a great looking car, too. 8 lugs all around. Nice.

389 Pontiacs were, (and still are) a performance joke. 383 MoPars would regularly shit on 389s. So did 327 Chevrolets.
