great video. actually i saw this about a year ago, now i am planning to tolt a climb outside my town and find this video very helpful. i have couple of questions, do you use aid gear such as fifi hook+etrier as you go up? and whats the spacing between bolts? thanks.
Great video, i was wondering if you should use a torch wrench to tighten the bolts. I understand that it would be a lot to drag along with you, but just wondering if you have every heard of this. Thanks for all of the videos, keep them coming
Never seen anybody use one in the wild but that would be the way to do it. Most people over tighten the bolts and they become spinners a few months down the road.
Why not use cement epoxy? I used some building all the seating for the new giant stadium. It has a pull streingth of 4500 foot pounds. Raited but it failed at 7500 lbs lasts for 20 years just saying we used all threads for our anchors. just a pesky idea and try the makita lithium ion cordless drills last for ever and very light weight.
Good vid, but you should be painting that hardware to match the rock. Use a quality primer, and prime the bolts & hangers ahead of time. Then carefully paint the bolts & hangers with an ultra flat paint. This will also protect the hardware from harmful corrosion.
I have access to a great compressor and spray gun and can get primer and paint for a song. My idea is to paint the entire crag to match the bolt and hanger. Thanks that is a great idea.
@elvis237 I agree, these are the best certainly the best rock climbing videos on youtube, and in my opinion the best instructional videos full stop. What an awesome guy.
not exactly, the camera is about a year old. This bolt thing though is the first time I published a HD vid on youtube. I am really impressed at the quality. Not sure how google does it. The original upload was 1.3 gigs and took about 6 hours to upload and 4 hours to process but the end product was worth it. I am going to do all future vids in 720p. Really look at how ruggedly handsome I am, you folks deserve nothing less.
are you Joe McKay or Mike Barter?

Glue is excellent when done right. It is the done right part that gets me. Mechanical bolts are much simplier. for guys like me who are not to smart.
mikebarter387 2 years ago
@deathmarch5 what size battery pack would you use for rotohammer: 18v,24v, or 36v??
SymAmineC8H11N 1 year ago
@SymAmineC8H11N I have a old Hilti T! which is 36 volt. I use 3 motorcycle batteries compounded to produce 36V
mikebarter387 1 year ago
@mikebarter387 Same. I have an old Bosch Bulldog 24v and use two motorcycle batteries to the same effect. Works well.

@SymAmineC8H11N This drill is 36V but 24V is common also
