Children are bombarded with bad information all day! Through Television, the Internet, and even at our schools. So I think trying to build some sort of structure of moral compass and faith is beneficial. They are teaching them to be an “army” of love and generosity, and not of hate and war. I went to a residential/sleepaway Christian camp throughout middle school and it was fine. It wasn't like this camp...it was more normal and less intense-looking than this one. It never stopped me from questioning my faith and making sure I wasn't following something blindly.

I went to a residential/sleepaway Christian camp throughout middle school and it was fine. It wasn't like this camp...it was more normal and less intense-looking than this one. It never stopped me from questioning my faith and making sure I wasn't following something blindly.

I feel that way sometimes.. i used to be a christian and i hated the rules of Christianity..but when i formed a relationship with God.. rules faded away and it all became about experiencing his love. I cant explain it but its beautiful and peaceful and addictive. I do not know of one "on fire for the lord" youth that I was with that kept up this charade. In the end, a lot of us start to actually think. I felt sorry for the kid who sat in front of the camp and admitted he was "having doubts..." ie his brain was logically processing that he was experiencing sheer foolishness. But they tell you not to think...
