The Mark II has the advantage of a different geometry compared to the conventional unit. If you notice, the up stroke is slower than the down stroke. The advantage of this is slower fluid intake into the down hole pump. The up stroke of the unit is when most "work" is being done in the pump. Fluid is being brought into the pump and the fluid is being discharged at the same time.

What is the advantage of having this unit over air balanced units and conventional style units with counter weights?
