  • I saw Ten Years Later in 79 in Oakland, Sammy Hagar headlined and Eddie Money guest appeared. Anyone know where the album cut was recorded?

  • It is Ten Years Later... I saw them in concert as Ten Years Later.

  • saw tya at skegness rock and blues 2 weeks ago and they were superb, obviously not alvin lee but the guitar player was excellent and they were one of the best bands there. but rock on alvin, cheers. mac in sunny scunny.

  • Thisis a great version of this classic. I'm a Ten YearsAfter fan since the 70's and this is new to me. Glad it was posted on Youtube.

  • Trivia: Ten Years After based their name on the 10th year of Elvis breaking onto the music scene in '56. At least according to Wikipedia.

  • Got to see Alvin lee and ten years after at the fillmore east when they made the live album 1970 sat 4th row 2nd best show I ever saw. The first best show at the fillmore east was new years eve 69-70 Jimi Hendrix.

  • They don't make men like him anymore. Thanks for sharing~ ~ *hugs*

  • @Texasfilly101 really,,,,,,,,,,hugs,,,good lord

  • hey joe 1 of the BEST out there it 'd be great with Eric Clapton leading.

  • Not that good at Gee-tar is he?

  • they were called "ten years later" for a while, so I understand the confusion.

  • Alvin's always great

  • The great Michael Burks does a cover of this song too. Burks is in Lee's league too. Look him up and see.

  • next best thing to Jimmy's Orig version.

  • THE GREAT ALVIN LEE ONE OF THE GREATEST GUITARISTS THE WORLD HAS KNOWN. TEN YEARS AFTER OR TEN YEARS LATER. ROCK ON....

  • I'm suprised the world didn't Implode cause of Awesome, when Alvin played this live in 1979

  • If you don't like Alvin Lee you turn around and get out of here. A.L. is exceptionally underrated guitar player, singer, song writer. He never go his due by critics and he and TYA have to be the most underappreciated band of all time. Those of us who were fortunate to be turned on to them, well...the rest of you missed the boat.

  • GREAT...........

  • god damn it <3 , it's so beautiful

  • Seeing all of these idiots telling the person who posted this to Change The Name To "Ten Years After" makes me wanna Shake the Shit Out Of Them. Ten Years After was named so because when Alvin Lee, Ric Lee and Leo Lyons formed the band it was 10 yrs after Elvis's biggest year in Show Business 1956. Alvin, Ric and Leo (TYA) haven't played together in years and Alvin's been using the name Ten Years Later since around 1978. OK Kids... Let's Review... IF YOU DON'T KNOW SHIT... DON'T SAY SHIT... K?

  • @motownharry True brother, but don't forget about TYA'S Keyboard player Chic Churchill remember? I saw them live in 1973, Albuquerque NM. Great Concert!! Alvin Lee in my opinion is one of the best Lead guitarists of all time, and yes, unfortunately under-rated & as far as of the rest of the band...Kick ASS!!

  • much, much better than the original one

  • this is the heaviest version I have heard of Hey joe and as you can hear he is not imitating Jimi hendrix he is beeing his own and thats true music

  • @blackdude57 Some folks don't know it but Hendrix Covered this song, it was First Done by The Leaves in 1966. Their version was faster and much less Soulful but good none the less. If you look I'm sure you can find it here on the Tube.

  • @motownharry

hey joe was the flip side of the leaves "where were you when I needed you" I believe, and the version I heard first.

  • People only know Ten Years After...:(((

  • my first concert was a ten years after concert than i saw him with ten years later fastest guitar player ever

  • I'm wondering if some people are watching this video? I know Alvin Lee was in Ten Years After...but, this was 1979, when TYA had broken up and Alvin's band was called ''Ten Years Later'' as printed on the ''Ride On'' album cover, that shown in the video.

  • @HotRockinJohnny Could someone translate this into English?

  • @HotRockinJohnny I was lucky enough to see the Ten Years LATER tour when Alvin and friends hit Bristol in 1979. It was one of the most memorable gigs ever for pure musicianship. Even a pretty long bass solo was worth every second. Happy days.

  • I gotta say, I like this version better than Hendrix. He really nailed this song. The only version I listen to now.

  • Sit down, shut the fuck, and listen!

  • my fav guitar player

  • Thanks for the upload, even if it is a static image, there's no live version of this by Lee, on here, so thanks for the clip. :)

  • Dude fix the title...it's "Ten Years AFTER" not "Later"

  • @IkarosK The album title and band is called ''Alvin Lee - Ten Years Later - Ride On'' --

''Alvin Lee finished out the 1970s with Ten Years Later who also released two albums, Rocket Fuel (1978) and Ride On (1979) and toured extensively throughout Europe and the United States'' - Wikipedia

  • @HotRockinJohnny Oh I See...sorry dude!

  • @HotRockinJohnny you are right-I saw him in Chicago then

  • @IkarosK je suis bien d' accord ( de guitare )

  • @IkarosK & deepsabbath It was freaking TEN YEARS LATER at this time! I saw them at the Long Beach Arena this tour. I seen 100's of shows and still to this day that Long Beach show is in my top 3. (Gotta love the YouTube "geniuses"!!!)

  • @IkarosK Dude, he was in Ten Years After, then later he was in Ten Years Later.

  • @IkarosK that's right

  • @IkarosK I saw Alvin Lee and Ten Years Later in 1979 at Raincross Square in Riverside Ca I still have the handbill - Ten Years Later was a play on Ten Years After (1979) just as Ten Years After was a referance to the beginning of Rock and Roll in the 1950s

  • TEN YEARS LATER? ITS AFTER!

  • @MrDeepsabbath - The album title and band is called ''Alvin Lee - Ten Years Later - Ride On'' --

''Alvin Lee finished out the 1970s with Ten Years Later who also released two albums, Rocket Fuel (1978) and Ride On (1979) and toured extensively throughout Europe and the United States'' - Wikipedia

  • There are 0 crazy people in here, and that is just great :)

  • sabe lo que es bueno.

  • Fajne , ale Jimi jest lepszy !

  • this poor rolling stone list starts well with Jimi and duane Allman but then there a lot of bs including the absence of Alvin near top

  • @renfieldvonklauss Rolling Stone was a musicians magizine, in the 70s, they just went down the drain like all this new crap music

  • He is better than Jimmy Hendrix!

  • @rafaelserial no way dude

  • super awesome...

  • Cleaner and more sensible than Hendrix all day long !

  • @harmonicablueslover Cleaner than Hendrix? Why would anyone in their right mind want to be cleaner than Hendrix?! And more sensible?!! That's like saying you want to be whiter than Jeff Foxworthy, or fatter than Paris Hilton. Doesn't make sense? It's not supposed too...

  • Check the date, 1979- 1969= 10 years later so it might be 20 Years After.

  • WTF??? ten years later??? its ten years after

  • @giantzrule123

ups wrong push should be up :(

  • the best r*b band ever

  • Holy shit thats some good bass or what

  • HE WAS THE GREATEST GUITARIST EVER, AND THE HOTTEST!

  • @renfieldvonklauss Written by a bunch of dumbasses?

  • alvin lee is the best guitarist no question, he can play circles around hendrix and clapton

  • @fatas412 whoa! whoa! pump your brakes there buddy! : )

  • does anyone no where i can get a sticker kit so i can make my guitar look like his

  • The guys from Rollin Stone know shit about nothing. Their best lists are all crap.

Check out Guitar World. The are in the know.

  • He should be in the top 10 along with Rory Gallagher and Frank Marino!

    Thanks kick ass

  • Alvin is great!!!

  • FANTASTIC

  • One of the greatest guitarists ever!!! I still have all my records from my parents and mine from 80 on and they still sound great on that old record player. Wish I had a reel to reel

  • I love this song in all version!

  • Best version of this song I ever heard... Jimi would be proud. Alvin integrates his feel and guitar wizardry making the song flow and glow...a real Rock n' Roll Gem known to not that many folks I believe.

  • SO GOOD, SO GOOD.

  • he's not in the rolling stone top 100.the editors are deft or too young.

  • I know he rank high on some web based sites pure old school classic blues Rock at its best

  • Aye, Rolling Stone has been a rolling joke for a long time now.

  • I had to look the list over for myself just to confirm what you said... It's madness! What kind of idiots do they have working over there at Rolling Stone?

  • that list is bullshit anyway-Kurt Cobain better guitarist than Eddie Van Halen-wtf

  • @wallba neither was rory gallagher so i think it's to assume that list was a crock of shit

  • @wallba Sex Pistols' description is perfect for both rolling stone and rock n roll hall of fame: PISS STAIN PISS STAIN PISS STAIN!!!!

  • @wallba i agree man they rock

they mst be too younger to remember lol

  • @wallba Agreed..Alvin was an integral part of the second British invasion..paved the way for most metal guitarists to come!! Thanks to Mr DS for posting this great version of Hendrix.

  • fantastic

  • AWESOME

  • Great Version of this song....Thanks man
