I have a 15 week old dark red male bully who needs a taping...how long do you keep the tape on, what's the best way to get it off, and do you ever 'change' the tape like a dressing bandage?
Hi, Use baby oil (unscented) to remove the tape, slowly work the baby oil down in the tape so it comes off without pulling out their hair and more importantly without any pain! Then clean well, dry and use an antibiotic cream like neosporin if there are any sore areas where the tape may have rubbed, you have to watch daily to make sure all is ok with their ears, this is ONLY a cosmetic thing & it's not worth damaging their ears or causing them pain only for cosmetic, be careful!
Yes, that is something you have to be careful of, you should never tape their ears if there is any soreness, infection, cuts, etc. you need to dissinfect the area first with alcohol before taping. Also never "rip" the tape off, you could not only pull out the fur which would hurt a LOT but you could also rip the skin, I use baby oil I start at the top of the tape and gently work it in with my fingers, it works great, no pulling on the skin or hair and no pain. Always check daily, keep them clean
We taped our bullmastiff's ears...he didn't mind the tape! But after a week this awful STENCH was coming from it! We had to RIP off the tape b/c it was stuck, and it tore off his fur, it was the worst thing I ever. I'll never tape ears again! Just message them, that works just fine if you keep at it!!
Good video & Nice dog. How often do you have to do this? What age should you start and what age do they usually stop having to be done? I have a 13 week old pup and just one of her ears are starting to raise up. Also the collar looks very nice are they available over the internet?
