If you all think that "bmwfanz" idea is whack, then you're all stupid. A single five foot long tank can hold up to 5000 psi. The technology used in this engine that you're watching is over 100 years old. In fact, they've already made a compressed gas powered car.
Dont got the whole discussions yet, but they are already really fast 100% electronic cars existing: Audi E-Tron and (even older and in Serial Production) the Tesla Roadster, as well as the chinese BYD (Build Your Dream) !!!
Except for the "cool" factor (which by the way, this is cool) how is this producing more power than the air that's being forced into it? Why not just hook up an air wrench to the wheels?
@nicjasno dude, its useing compressed air to power the engine. How do you think the air got pressurized in the first place? Electricity. Planning on putting a coal/nuclear/hyrdo station on the car? lool
@nicjasno and also, doesnt it require electricity to produce the compressed air that powers the engine so its even more effective to use an electronic car?
@bmwfanz That's a very good question since it hasn't been build in a large scale to my knowledge, but it would be an enormous amount and would require a gigantic tank of compressed air. A standard car consumes about 20-50 litres of air per second when working hard(I'm not kidding). Then imagine trying to push the pistons in a large engine with only air instead of very powerful explosions. You would need an extreme amount of (constant) pressure, and a lot of air!
@bmwfanz You would have to store a lot of compressed air, and that uses energy. Biofuels are probably best. They give out CO2, but only as much as is being used up to grow more fuel. Cars don't need their engines to be changed, and no new pollutants are being released.
To transport enough compressed air to power a car would require an enormous tank. The energy to compress the gas would have to come from somewhere like solar, or more likely coal. You'd also have an enormous tank of compressed air in your car. It would be a safety hazzard.
@bmwfanz do you know how much air is going into that...alot for the size of that engine and it scaled up.... bad even with fourty scuba tanks full youll get maybe 6 miles
@bmwfanz well people have tried but oil companies are very bent on hiding such innovations. for example, we have cars now that can run for an hour on 1L of water. BUT do you think any manufacturers are going to release this at any point in time? everything is controlled by money, not the interest of society
sorry to sound ignoant to all this but are these engines "off the shelf" to buy in shops or is it something you have fabricated using lego and custom made parts as there are pieces in there I dont recognise from my younger years of lego technic building!
I don't know why, but I find this video funny xD The hose falls out, the rearwing falls off and goes flying the car shakes around, and apparently something off screen falls apart xD
Did the front wheels fall off in the end? I seen the front drop down :-) Also, put a couple drops of oil down on the floor under the tires, reduces vibration, and parts might stay intact longer :-)
now you need to build a multi-geared transmission out of legos....i bet that will be more challenging than an engine. Either way its pretty freakin cool

@d34dbol7 The New mustang with a V8 pulls .96 on the skid pad. The v6... with 305 horse power and 31 miles to the gallon pulls .97. That dominates most if not all European cars in that price range. AND it has a solid rear axle, so that's stronger than any dual independent rear suspension will ever be. In my opinion, it's pretty damn impressive that a car manufacturer can achieve ALL of those numbers in the same car.
@iloveto69yourmom The new mustang is a damn impressive car, especially for that price range. I wish i had one. V6, manual tranny, gt suspension package. Any color except pink would do. :)
@iloveto69yourmom u plonker u mean they put a live rear axle to save money an u kno an bmw m6 could own the mustang but to be fair i would rather hav a mustang cuz it has more character

@gt4mazda yeah but the SBC get better gas mileage, is more reliable, and costs less to build the 1000hp, pluss we can do it on stop internals. What japanese car can do that: Skyline?....sure if you wanna spend that kind of money, Supra?....it wont be very reliable.
@yourcreator why would you disagree? american engines are down on power and efficency. the one redeeming faeture of an american engine is the tork you get out. but the overall power is piss poor. you use huge 5litre engines and barley get 300 hp. european engines can and do easily double that output.
@d34dbol7 you have no idea. make sure you speak you know what your talking about. no other country's engines can compare with Americans. I.E. the chevy LS series, we will talk about its smallest model the 5.7 LS1 which has 340hp, sameish torque and gets 28mpg. I like european cars and I like there awd systems but you cant get the same numbers.
@spartan177saber 340bhp out of 5.7 liters is shamefull....over here we have litlle tiny 2 litre engines that got 300+ hp....and you should get masses of torque out of an engine tahat size (5.7l)..you seen some of the german stuff nearly a 1000 torques in one merc...had to reign it back to 800 and something to stop it shredding it's own tyres.
@d34dbol7 you're missing the point. the point is that the 5.7 gets better gas mileage AND has better horsepower. who cares how many liter it is if it has better gas mileage, more performance and weighs the same as a underpowered 4 cylinder. I'm not dissing on foreign made vehicles, but you can't just rule out american cause its "a big gas guzzling 5.7 (or higher)"
@spartan177saber no alot of european cars have high milage aswell, but it's not just power/milage i'm talking about, american cars just can't corner well atall, they are shapeless through corners, body roll, understeer, oversteer any steer but the bloody right one, poor ride from bad suspension, like the new mustang it has leaf spring suspension, thats old and crappy. plus theres way to much cheapness in american cars it all seems tacky (shite)
@spartan177saber I agree with d34dbol7. I am a big car fan and had many quick cars. US cars generally are not as tuned as countries, they just go for big engines. If I remember right the Honda s2000 is a 2 liter and 240bhp. I owned a slightly modded Scooby and that was 2.0 and 300 bhp (oh the fun). My tt is 225 bhp and thats a 1.8
@burf2000 you listed all great cars and i love the little Audi TT's with the 1.8 turbo ('01+) and wouldnt mind owning one but who cares what liter it is if the 5.7 gets better/same gas mileage and more hp and torque, id say thats pretty darn good "tuning"

You know... you're absolutely mistaken. It's Japanese ricers that have small dicks, and that's a genetic a cultural fact. Now, that Americans have a tendency to build absurdly inefficient and big engines has more to do with tradition and national pride than small dicks. And this is a Colombian speaking, so you can forget about agreement by association.
@FeHgNa i have neither a small penis, nor too less self esteem, but i just like to sit in a car which presses you into the seat while you put the throttle down! its just an extremely pleasant feeling for me...
do you want to tell me that americans are proud of building inefficient engines?! and in average, japanese ppl havent got smaller wieners than americans have. look it up. and please, dont out yourself as an ignorant fuck by claiming that a whole nation has small dicks.

@bmwfanz this engine is powered by air pressure produced by an electric pump that likely gets its electricity from burning coal which produces CO2.
'Smart Cars' are worse for the environment than regular gas burning cars.
Srlancelot39 1 year ago
@bmwfanz You would have to store a lot of compressed air, and that uses energy. Biofuels are probably best. They give out CO2, but only as much as is being used up to grow more fuel. Cars don't need their engines to be changed, and no new pollutants are being released.

@burf2000 you listed all great cars and i love the little Audi TT's with the 1.8 turbo ('01+) and wouldnt mind owning one but who cares what liter it is if the 5.7 gets better/same gas mileage and more hp and torque, id say thats pretty darn good "tuning"
spartan177saber 1 year ago
@spartan177saber I thought the argument was they had less hp? Anyway your point is valid. If the 5.7 does 40mpg and has over 225 bhp I buy one
burf2000 1 year ago
@burf2000 manuel tranny C5 corvettes get 28mpg w/ 350hp and torque (on average)

You know... you're absolutely mistaken. It's Japanese ricers that have small dicks, and that's a genetic a cultural fact. Now, that Americans have a tendency to build absurdly inefficient and big engines has more to do with tradition and national pride than small dicks. And this is a Colombian speaking, so you can forget about agreement by association.
corotor12345 1 year ago
well this is an American speaking, and if you drive a hummer, ferrari, or lambo, you have a small penis. Fact in general.

@FeHgNa
We'll, I'd have to disagree... it's not exactly necessary that you have a small penis, it can be a matter of self esteem, or just good taste overall.
corotor12345 1 year ago
I agree!!!!
monsterrmann2244 1 year ago
and if you drive a shitbox yours is even smaller. :)

@FeHgNa i have neither a small penis, nor too less self esteem, but i just like to sit in a car which presses you into the seat while you put the throttle down! its just an extremely pleasant feeling for me...
