  • fu*k COD and all that sh*t, I want to play THIS!!!

  • Its nearly dead . isnt it ?

  • @Kuchen90000

Real life things getting in the way of development, so the mod's in a bit of a torpor. The free members of the development team are working on some deathmatch-style levels in the meantime.

  • @FriedchikenCamo I think i gonna try to Spam steam for Steamworks support

  • great job these are fantastic looking levels

  • nice video i need to say why there is no more nt_saitama? looks like it's not has been renamed and bit changed like all the other maps from closed beta, someone still has the saitama map? would like to play it. thank you

  • @Hinatadan

The layout to nt_saitama is the most confusing of all the NT maps created by Deej. Later on he decided to scrap it. Kind of a shame because some of the areas looked really nice. (I'll check around for the sources.)

  • @FriedchikenCamo hm okay thanks for your comment it's a good feeling you guys still have a look at the game ^^ thx.

  • Nice!

  • what game is this?

  • Source Engine mod. Check out the links in the description section if you like.

  • @L3v1Te neotokyo

  • The best map to me is the train map. Okay, its not complex and detailled as other maps, but it has its own style of atmosphere and design.

Its different from all the typical map designs^^

    N1

  • Love the music

  • what is the name of nt_Seikan? cos i dunno if they changed it like they changed ujiwa or whatever the office one is called

  • nt_bullet

  • Wish nt_Seikan was released... it looks awesome.

  • It was i dont see it on the map list

  • I love this mod so much that I told all of my classmates to join me on Neotokyo!

  • moddb,com/mods/neotokyo/downloads/neotokyo-client-07032009 now stop asking!

  • Amazing work, both the mod and the music.

    Grats

  • it is ghost in the shell?

  • Neotokyo is sorta based ib that anime.

  • this game is fuking awesome

  • will this mod be added to steam mods section for easy installation?

  • Not yet... download in any other service for now, but when installed it will appear in ur steam with success...

  • lol

  • Looking forward to this mod very much.

  • MOD,GAME whatever it is it looks good. Is it out? to download?

  • Should be soon, but who knows.

  • Neotokyo is on the final stretch of development. It will be released as a free download on multiple sites, compatible with any game that comes with the Source SDK Base.

  • Will this come out on steam or do i have to go to the direct torrent link?

  • releasing today

  • looks promising will be waiting

  • omg i think this is the onlllllllyyyy game im anxious for it to come out.

  • its not a game,its a mod for half-life 2,it requires it

  • lol watever its still new to come out and the characters and skins and guns arnt in neother hl2 game.

  • If a Mod is good enough, I think it would be safe enough to consider it to be a fully blown game.

By the looks of it, NeoTokyo looks promising enough to give commercial titles a run for their money. Mods used to be just "mods", an addon if you like, to a full game. But this is too good to consider it as just a "mod". Also, many upcoming mods look possibly better than the engines they are based from. Look at Black Mesa: Source for example.

  • Can't wait to play nt_shibuya, but it actually looks a bit more like this: /watch?v=pI7kjwdHeHY (my video).

I wonder what it'll look like in the final release considering this video is pretty old.

  • As far as I know, the Shibuya map has been scrapped for the time being. Don't hold your breath for it.

  • Will there be voices and in which language would it be done, Japanese or English?

  • There are some environmental sounds that use Japanese voice acting. PA announcements mostly. But as far as gameplay goes, expect to use voice chat to speak to your teammates in whatever language you prefer (Like Swedish).

  • I see. Well, how about for any particular voice commands like for example? In TF2, there are voice commands for calling Medic, Spy, Incoming, Activate Ubercharge, etc. by hitting z, x, and c and then pressing the corresponding number. Will there be anything like that and if there is, will the voices be done in English or Japanese?

  • None planned as far as I know.

  • Ah, oh well.. Hopefully, they might consider it eventually. Now, I'm wondering about the gameplay in general. Will each player have access to any weapon or will it be class-based?

  • Direct your questions to the Q&A thread on the NeotokyoHQ forums.

  • cant wait for release :3!!

  • you can also load the map in gmod and use the moving camera addon ^^ which is a whole lot easier

  • Hmmm, How do you create a flythru like that

  • The complicated way would be to use the demoui command to script all the camera angles and movements. And if you know how, you can also export an avi file directly from the engine demo tool.

But I'm sure there is a command to reduce the spectator movement speed. Also, lower the mouse movement speed and then use fraps while trying to make smooth movements through the maps.

  • how to make those flashing animating advertisment textures?

  • They're called animated textures (I think), and they are made by linking together multiple TGA files with a VTF. The process is kind of complicated as far as I can see, but there are plenty of tutorials that show up in a search.

  • i remember playing this on UT, i thought it was a lot better then red orchestra and stuff. but there was barely anyone playing it.

  • its not out

  • yeah... whats that have to do with what i said.

  • He probably doesn't know that there was that Unreal Tournament 2004 prototype. Oh well, no real harm in being a little too pedantic.

Kind of a shame that no one recorded gameplay videos of Neotokyo UT, I didn't hear about it until it was too late to play with anyone.

  • Tell DJB that nt_seikan could use an env_shake effect to make the motion of the train seem a bit more believable, but apart from that the quality and everything is absolutely superb. I also just noticed Ed Harrison's MySpace page is telling the world that the NT soundtrack is complete. Does this mean you're releasing soon? :D

Either way awesome work. I'm looking forward to the eventual release with all my soul.

  • Already done. The fps view will rumble every time that passing train goes by. Spectator mode doesn't seem to show this effect.

If you mean to have the screen subtly shake all the time, I'm not sure if I'm prepared get motion sickness. ;)

Releasing soon? I'm not really sure, the lead coder still has a long list of things to do, but everyone else is still generating content. For example, Ed Harrison is currently working on weapon sounds now that he's done with the music.

  • Interesting, I didn't know he did sound effects as well. Sounds like you folks still have a lot of work to do, although it's nice to see some activity. Keep up the good work!

  • I like the look a lot. Very nice.
