Sue shouldn't have died. It was very symbolic in the first one, and well, frankly- I don't think of the second film as being part of the "Carrie Canon".
As often happens with horror films, you can really only rely on the original for the "canon" and the rest, in my mind, is just speculation/fiction/someone trying to make money off an artwork that they shouldn't have touched.
@Treemeadow , I know you posted this a year ago....and I strongly agree. I don't consider Carrie 2 canon, just as I don't consider all the Alien movies that came after the second one canon.

I know the book is not the same as the movie, but if you ever read it, Sue Snell kinda comes off as a trifling-ass conformist whose actions aren't quite as sincere as they seem in the film. So not sad about Sue getting impaled. BTW Kids puking blood? It looks like a sleepover.
I think they killed sue for a couple of reasons. This is the second movie to the Carrie movies BUT it is the last Carrie movie also. I think. BUT Rachel was about to Kill that jerk football player WHEN the spear went through his head it accidently went through Sue's. Rachel didnt mean to kill her but it accidently happened. She was the last survivor of the Carrie White incident and now Rachel's boyfriend is the last survivor. So the death was an accident. :( But she shouldnt have died!!!!

Rachel was nowhere as sympathetic a character as Sissy Spacek's Carrie was. In fact, I found her to be ungrateful and grating.
