see what i have to deal with is that my right arm is my strong arm but i wright with my left hand and i can only close my right eye and aim with my left so i shoot pistols with my right hand cause its stronger but with rifles i have to shoot left handed im just all sorts of messed up haha but its what im used to and im a pretty good shot
@brotherskeepers111 so if i got a left handed upper for the ar that im about to build would i be able to use a right handed bolt assembly or would i have to get a special bolt for the left handed upper
@unicornlxi I should have waited. You just answered my question. I suppose any AR mag will work. One more question: what type of gas system does it use?
Not going down the $400-$700 road but may have to spend more than $100 for somthing that works properly. I really hate buying junk from China. I will keep reading reviews... got time to research. Thanks.
I am not sure what sight to put on it. I want to shoot it a bit with the iron sights first. Been looking at a lot of sight reviews. Too many to choose from. I will probably go with a red dot because I don't want to spend much more than $100 unless I can find a good range that is not too far from me.
@mkstn1400 Red dot is a good option, but most of the eo techs and aimpoints are in the 400 to 700 dollar range. There are some options out there for the 100 dollar range, you just need to research it and read the reviews
Hey, I was wondering if you have tried the DPMS tactical bolt release? Its not like the Magpul BAD lever as it doesn't cross over through the trigger guard. It seems like the DPMS version is made for lefties. It sells for less than $10.
@Renagadepatriot Its not that difficult really. I would suggest you check here on youtube, there are some good videos on cleaning and lubing the AR-15
what is the forward assist for and do?,I`m new and looking to get the 2tl one.one is the mil spec mean? And is the 556 rd bigger then the 223rd and which one is better?
@Fishyninjabreadman Sometimes when you pull back the slide to put in a round, the bolt may not seat all the way, at that point you can tap the forward assist and it will seat the round. I believe this was probably an issue with earlier ar designs, but it has never been an issue with this rifle
Sorry if you mention it, can't watch the whole vid... Does the aperture on the top rail intervene with the dust cover for the ejection port/shell ejection at all? (most technical sentence in the world I know..)
Amen mike, same reason why I'm going for an LEO job, cause I want an active roll in removing scumbags from my community, not making it harder for good citizens to protect themselves under our "inalienable" rights
Ahh, the prince 15, It's basically an allen wrench lock out. Take out the allen screw and it's full function...that's for the magazine I'm referring to. I wish I didn't have to know about that, but it's California brother, all the rules are different out here, as much as this is a liberal state, they are very conservative about our gun laws out here.
@mrpicky510 I got it, thats sad man, I got friends here on youtube who live in europe who dont have the restrictions you guys do. It makes no sense to me that we are all Americans that are guaranted the same rights under the constitution and yet our rights are so different
@brotherskeepers111 Man, it's state laws, like I said, things are so much harder because of the law makers, this is considered a violent area, but most of the crimes are gang related, and carried out with hand guns. But after the north hollywood bank shootout in 97 where the guys had AK's, our state has banned so many things. AR's are deemed assualt rifles so we have to try to bend the rules. Honestly through...people will shoot something up with an 870 if they are motivated enough
@mrpicky510 Its a knee jerk reaction from these guys, everytime there is a shooting they are quick to call for more laws and restrictions that do nothing but harm law abidding gun owners and make it more difficult to protect themselves. I dont know what it will take to make them realize that rule after restriction after law will not make criminals stop criminal behavior. If that was the case I would not have a job. The bad guys dont care how many laws there are on the books.
man, it's such a pain in the ass, I have to buy the lower through an approved FFL, after that I can get any upper assembly that I want any additions that I want, buuuuut, the mag has to be 10 measly rounds and either locked into the lower, or it has to have a "bullet button" or a "prince 15". Crazy thing, look at the stats in my state...no one commits crimes with the AR, gun laws are just punishing responsible gun owners, oh well.
I've been looking into an AR 15 build for myself out here in California, and as you know already, there's all kinds of subtle little things we have to do to legally own these. It's kind of tricky, but it can be done. I don't own too many long guns so this is all really new to me, however, I know I can build a pretty cool gun, as long as it's a 10 round mag.
@mrpicky510 Man that stinks about you guys only being allowed the 10 round mags. This is a great platform of a rifle, so many possibilities, just have to be careful and not over do it with to many gadgets.
NICE RIFLE!!! I am a lefty also and have always used right handed rifles since I was ten. In the military I used a M14. So I am use to using right handed rifles. I have a MAK 90 and a Armalite 16 inch M16, both right handed of course. Nice video!!! You have a good channel!!! Thanks for the info.

For a guy that says that he isn't a reviewer you sure did a great review.
Have you heard of POF, they have a truly ambi lower where the bolt release and mag release are on both sides and done very well. They are expensive but very very nice. It'd go very well with your stag upper.
Take care and stay safe, I hope that business is slow at work :D
@1AbominAble1 Hey man, thanks for the comment. I have heard of the company, but I am not that familiar with them. I will check it out, but based on my LEO salary it will probably hurt my feelings LOL
Great vid. I'm going through school for LE right now, thanks for your service! Great vid, and for a non-reviewer, you do a hell of a lot better job than other people out there that claim to be. Keep it up
Great vid BK, great bit of kit, my ol' Man was a South paw, so i got took taught to do a lot of thing "wrong handed" including shooting (as im a "righty") lots of good info including the history of the company (i enjoy the background knowleage) for a "non-reveiwer" you did real good bro! all we need now is some footage of that bad boy pit'n some lead down range! ha again top job and respect BK take care brother.
@TheDishD Hey Dishy my friend, thanks for the comment man. CMT has been making milspec receivers and parts for alot of years. Thankyou for the encouragement, but I still say I ramble on and loose my train of thought to much. I need some talking points like ol Nutn, LOL. Footage is coming man, I plan on burning some rounds soon. Take care my brother down under
Great vid, I'm left-handed, but we went with a right-handed Stag because friends and family would also be shooting it sometimes. We love the EOTech 512 also. There was just a bit of rattle in our stock butt-stock, so until we got some MOE furniture, I applied some UHMW tape to the inside of the stock and it worked great (see our vid on how we did it).
@drzmanproject Thankyou for the response sir, I have been a big "fan" since I saw you and your son running and gunning in Nutn's allstar video. I believe I have already seen the video you are referring to, but a revisit wouldn't hurt
Ah ha! Something just didnt look right on that rifle and I just figured out what it is when I saw the part about the dust cover... it's not a "true" lefty rifle, just a lefty upper. I was air-gunning (kind of like air-guitar but cooler) and then my mental image got to the bolt and mag releases.
I think some company needs to sack up and make a fully left-handed AR-15 with lefty ergos on the upper AND lower. Stag Arms is on the right track but I wish they made a left handed lower too!
man... I really gotta get me one of those! How much is the "lefty premium" versus the standard model?
Being a southpaw myself, I fully understand the "hot brass to the face" issue and every one of my guns (except my awesome bottom-eject Ithica pump 12GA) is made for righys. Backwards ergos I can live with, but the right side ejection can be a real pain!
Very cool, saw this in one of those tactical magazines a few months back and thought "about time" haha anyway, I have a Stag Arms upper assembly on top of a Bushmaster lower and I LOVE it so far. Excellent quality!
@TheSOGDog Yes sir, over the years I have had to learn to adapt to using right handed weapons, I have learned to use my trigger finger to release magazines and release the slide, even with most modern companies producing ambi controls, I still find myself reverting back to the way I have learned over the years
