kakashi lost his left eye whilst protecting obito. but on that same day they were celabrating the fact that kakashi was promoted to jounin but seeing as obito and kakashi hated eachother, obito didn't give kakashi a gift. a bit later, obito gained his sharingan (something they say you get after you're mature enough or something) and gave it to kakashi just before he died. rin (the medical ninja girl) transplanted the eye into kakashi just before obito died ^^
