  • John Denver is my favorite singer, and this is my favourite song, but I recognize that the interpretation of Olivia is fantastic. Congratulations for your video.

  • SIMPLY AWESOM MY FRIEND!!

  • Unbelievably wonderful!! More than well done!! Thanks so much, thanks you!!!!!!!!!!

  • @BiancaAmanda1 Thank you very much! I love Olivia and John Denver. Two awesome singer/entertainers. :-)

  • WONDERFUL ... THE BEST SING EVER !!!

  • BTW, wonderful video! Perfect footage and sound editing.

  • ONJ's version is lovely, but JD's is better, simply because he wrote the song & you can hear authentic pain in his voice.John suffered badly from bipolar depression throughout his life, & fan consensus is that this song is an expression of that.ONJ has had dark times too,but her default personality is generally a sunny uncomplicated one.. As a fellow sufferer this song means a lot to me.but as he sang, there is darkness out of the dawn. You can come out of it on the other side.

  • @ScattySafari Music is very subjective, so opinions can vary and lie in accordance with each person's perspective. That being said, many JD fans feel that NO ONE can or should ever sing his songs because he was the best at singing his material. That sentiment limits things quite a bit. He was extremely flattered when other people did sing his songs because that meant they got something out of it. I love anyone singing JD's song AS LONG AS they do it justice. Olivia does that and more.

  • @jrssjdca Perfectly said. I get the feeling from John and Olivia's song Fly Away, that they were good friends. I think he was perfectly fine with Olivia singing his songs. I'm a big fan of them both and think they should have done more together. They both are awesome.

  • @GreatestSingerEver01 Thanks, I appreciate it. They had very good chemistry as "Fly Away" would attest, and John in fact would ask rhetorically in concert where Olivia was when he was ready to do that song. There was a Colorado HOF event about a month ago that featured John as an inductee along with Red Rocks amphitheatre, and she was amongst the performers. I can't remember which song she did. There are photos of the event on Facebook. They were very good and close friends.

  • Jd didn't actually write take me home country roads it was recorded and a hit by both jd and olivia but it was written by bill and taffy danoff johns friends who were in jds band from 1971-1975 before they formed the starland vocal band

  • @Hannahorse715 Hannah, sweetie, that's not entirely accurate.Bill Danoff & Taffy Nivert did indeed write the 1st verse &part of the chorus, but then they got stuck.1 night in 1970,after JD &Bill & Taffy's band Fat City, finished a gig at the Cellar Door, & ended up having a car accident.JD broke his thumb. After this ordeal & a trip to the hospital, they were all wired. So they stayed up all night & finished it.JD wrote the bridge & most of the second verse. It's ASCAP credit is Danoff-Nivert-Denver

  • That was amazing !! Thank you for posting.

  • this is great I love oliva and john is one of my idols this is a great version u shoule do more videos like this thanks for such a great video!! kepp up the great posts

  • @Hannahorse715 Thank you friend. I learned that John Denver had written "Take Me Home Country Roads" for Olivia many years later after it was a hit. I would have loved for them to do many duets together. Their voices match perfectly.

  • u mean olivia sang it and john sang it and then u mixed it? wow, if that is the case u did a really super job.

    michael

  • @mettanc I first found Olivia's version and then discovered John's version. They sounded so great on Fly Away, that I thought I'd see how putting these two versions together would sound. It was very easy to do because their voices and the music matched up wonderfully. I would have loved for them to have sung many duets together. Sad he's gone. Olivia is still doing very well... got a new starring role in a movie she's filming now called "A Few Best Men." This could be big comeback 4 her.

  • @GreatestSingerEver01 Where did you find Olivia's version?

  • @bigtrukdon It's on Olivia's "Olivia Newton-John ~ 40th Anniversary Collection" I have been a fan since I was about 8 years old. That would be over thirty years ago. Can't wait for her new movie blockbuster movie coming up " A Few Best Men." Olivia is the best singer, ever! My channel name GreatestSingerEver01 is in honor of Olivia and Dolly - the two greatest singers, ever.

  • @GreatestSingerEver01 Must be a track that didn't make it onto an album in the mid-70's. Good cover of one of my favorite John Denver songs.

  • Olivia is the greatest. :)

  • @Physical926 You are perfectly correct! Olivia is the greatest singer, ever! She is a great songwriter, actress, humanitarian and mother. We all need good people in our lives that lift us up. Olivia is one of the most genuinely good-hearted people. I'm proud to be a fan.

  • Love the song and love the video. Thanks so much for sharing. Take care. Gwen
