Is this a joke? Reducing HP to simply a company that makes printers is preying on the ignorance of your audience. I could say Solarwinds is predatory company that buys up decent software, slaps their name on it, jacks up the price by 500%, then spams you for the rest of your life for even browsing to their website. HP guys show up for work in suit and tie, Solarwinds guys show up in a anime t-shirt with action figures in their office. On topic, however, neither product is worth the cost.
Personally, I would buy a PC from HP and then install InterMapper to monitor my routers, switches and printers. Orion is a costly downgrade from InterMapper.
I Have 6 cisco Switches And M Using Orion NPM Problem Is Npm detect Only 2 switch And Other 4 Switch Show In unknown devices plz Help Me What I Can Do Thats Show In My Main map Of Network
Man good things comes with good price tag ask anybuddy. dont compare camry with a limousine. and if OV's days are numbered than orions days are done. :)
See below comment. But you are correct HPOV can be configured to do more than Orion, but do the costs justify the return over something like Orion? (p.s. i dont work for Solarwinds)
I've been using various NMS platforms for the greater part of 10 years. Most of my experience is with Openview and Aprisma/CA Spectrum. I recently tried out Solarwinds Orion for a client. I gotta say, as far as robustness, Orion is equal to HP or CA. The cost is a no brainer. The issue that I see is trying to get larger corporations to switch over to Orion is not going to be easy. However, for companies new to NMS, or upgrading from say InterMapper, Orion is a great choice, in my opinion.
This geek is really dont know what is openview and what is all about. he have a cheap solution for his cheap product and for his kind information HP forums is full of IT professionals and HP is the master of NMS tools and for his concern orion not even able to make printers

Will Orion do autodiscovery and build its own map relationships or is that done manually?

Your not speaking english or making sense. HPOV is over priced, hard to configure and costly to maintain. Its days are numbered if you ask me
