It is partly PlayStations fault only because they could have handled the situation better. But its the people that have no lives and hack to get personal info, its their fault. It happens on XBOX, PC, PS3 all the time. I can understand hacking a video game but to get personal info is going to far and need to be sued/or locked up.

Besides this issue has happened and continues to happen to many corporations, some handle it better than others. ppl w/ no lives have been (are still) hacking XBOX, PC, PS3 to get personal info."Xbox Live is suffering a "Service Alert". XBOX is having problems with phishing. and if you dont believe XBOX has been down like this search on Google XBOX 360 outage of 2008. I just hope that PSN users wont get to discouraged and continue to use a PS3.

For all the people wondering if trophies will be protected and carried over to the new psn, if they are or not, it doesn't matter because if you synced with the severs before the outage happened, you hav all your trophy info in your system. IF and when the psn comes back on, you can just sync back up with servers with the trophy info in your system if your trophies aren't there.

@Xeophian lol you think, but you dont know. ive had my xbox for 2 years and play it atleast an hr every day. the only time it has ever been down is when they completely redesigned everything on the dashboard, and had a huge update. took 1 day to completely redesign xbox live. and no its never been hacked, because we can actually afford a good firewall and tech team to keep 14 year old hackers from shutting our network down.

Its sad to see some people that are fully addicted to online. Don't you know what single player means? The games back on PS2 age were mostly Single player experiences and I didn't see so many children here on youtube trolling the videos. Its sad too that youre going to buy a 360, I don't know if it's better to be without access to PSN that you've never paied for a week or two and pay $60 to play the 360 online. Do you expect a 5* online service from Sony when you've never paied to do it better?
