one thing missing from all those games you listed elborracho really just one thing they don't have that gears does, it's enough already to make the game not suck. No cliffy b didn't think outside the box other then the gore, but it nails every conventional way to make a shooter pretty perfectly. This isn't even getting into the awesome online play and the fact that it is one of the best visual showcases for the 360.

Unless you're retarded or in serious denial you have to know SR was only popular because: a.) it was 360 exclusive, b.) GTA IV wasn't out and it was a nice, little game to hold people over, the first next-gen sand-box game. no it's not bad, but face it it's an average game, good at best. gears 2 was a game for new gamers. Gears 1 was one of the most hardcore games out there because it took a lot of practice to master. a person couldn't just pick it up and be very good with it. games that are good for new gamers are halo 3 gears 2 and Call of duty4 and 5. they have it so a new gamer can get a lot of kills easily and their easy to master.

like contra was a game that pushed the limits of casual games but wasnt hardcore. Hardcore games are always targeted to an older audience. Games that take a long time to beat, have good story lines, and game play that you can really get into. Casual are games that you can pick up at anytime and play and get right into it but the experience doesnt last long.

one thing missing from all those games you listed elborracho really just one thing they don't have that gears does, it's enough already to make the game not suck. No cliffy b didn't think outside the box other then the gore, but it nails every conventional way to make a shooter pretty perfectly. This isn't even getting into the awesome online play and the fact that it is one of the best visual showcases for the 360.
