@MrJkbubbabutt At least in this state you can, but not in california unless you run a DPF and other emissions junk, but then it wouldn't sound as good!
@Hotrodx199 Hell yeah! These old truck's were the shit. You could run em hard and they will start up the next day asking for more. I just got a 2011 freightliner at my job and it is junk. The freightliner part is good, but the cummins under the hood is junk. Been in the shop 4 times for emissions parts and it is killing the engine. I wish it were like the old days where you either had a big cam cummins or my favorite, screaming demon detroit's!
@CSXtrackworker unfortunately today all vehicles are heavily burdened by their half ass emissions
technologies, theres no probs with the CORE.. im only 21 but i love engines and ive noticed all the stuff that slows em down mostly is all the new "helpful" ecological add ons.
@CSXtrackworker Hey man to be perfectly honest with you, its not just Cummins having problems with the after treatment devices. Detroit's new line of engines are just as bad, if not worse. The only plus side to this emissions stuff now is that the tree huggers can't complain about trucks.
@CSXtrackworker yea california sucks! its the land of the fruits and the nuts..they would for sure make someone put a dpf and egr and other shit on a good ol detroit buzzin dozen
I would think that if one wants to collect these older 2 cycle diesels as one would collect older cars that there would be no trouble with it. But in California all bets are off. There are good reasons why they're called the "left coast" and "land of fruits and nuts."
@lt1caprice57l My old camera picked this up better then my current one. The video of this driving in the country was my old camera, it picks it up a lot better.
Hey bud I am 23 and been driving for some time.. But if you spend some time in a truck and have someone that can explain how to shift properly these trucks are very simple to drive. It took me a couple months to really get it down driving log truck
@454sskilla it aint that hard to learn to drive a truck im 16 and my dad drives a truck hes got 4 but he only drives 1 so 3 sits and that all i do most days is move'em and you get the hang of shiftin.
@454sskilla with enough seat time anyone can drive one..well not anyone but just about ive been driving 3 years now and im still learning alot.. there is plenty to learn about trucking its not just hop in and shift and turn the wheel...check out a driving school
@454sskilla Dude,im 15 too,my grandpa manages a truck company, its not hard. Its just like driving a stick shift car,but the truck has about 5 to 15 gears you have to go through.
@MrKTM121 Much harder to shift than a car dude, if the truck has a synchro box then yeah its like a car, but a roadranger is way different, upshifting is relatively simple and half the time you dont even need the clutch, however its the downshifting i struggle with, still cant seem to match the revs properly when double clutching...
@ScotchRB30DET ............forget the double clutching...............power shifting is the way to go!, of course you do have to do it properly................keep at it, it'll come with time.
@ScotchRB30DET Use the clutch to get going, then don't use it after you're moving, unless you're coming to a stop ie; Start out in 1st, bring the rpms up to shifting point 1200 +-rpms, then release the fuel peddle and when the strain comes off the drive line, move the shift to 2nd gear (before the rpms fall all the way back to idle, probably 900 rpms or so -this varies from truck to truck). Repeat all the way up. Downshift at 900 rpms, throttle up to 1200rpms then shift to next gear and so on.
actually it has 90s in there instead of 120s. It doesn't really smoke much, just a haze sorta but it has a lot more power now. The rpms was turned up so it now turns about 2600 which it can do about 68-70 mph probably.

does using the jake brake use more fuel???

@Zephingonecrazy No it dont use more fuel because all it does is close exhaust valves and builds engine pressure.

Yeah. I'm sure it will make noise now that they put 120mm injectors in today. It will smoke like a top too. Took the 60 or 65mm injectors out.
