Hello Sir voxGuru, you are blessed with a diplomatic facial expression and compassionate intonation keep it up Sir .Turn180 degrees towards romance and you will be complete.
I am feeling much difficulty in starting of the essay (Introduction). can you plz tell me something about introduction and how I have to start introduction?
I want to ask about the writing tasks. I mistakenly write my essay in all capital letters. It was an honest mistake and I am sure I will lose marks. I want to know how heavy the consequence for it. I hope you could shed some light on it. Thanks in advance.
Dear Voxguru, I think you elaborate more on the correction of those common mistakes. Please give example when you say: conjunctions & conjunctional sentences. The same applies to punctuation. I was expecting you to tell us more about punctuation, and perhaps providing examples. Thank you.
Hi Lucy - I'm not certain if there is any official position (policy) on handwriting for IELTS, but my advice is to be as clear as possible about marking the beginning and end of sentences. Capital letters and full stops are what marks the beginning and end of sentences, so lower case is easier to read and assess. You could, I guess, use bigger capital letters for the first letter of a sentence, but this is not what I would advise my students. Don't forget about paragraphing!
No explanation as to how to recognise this from other kinds of task 2; no information how to get ideas, how to choose grammar; no standard expressions etc. Not much use at all.
I am really confused because some say the rule is pencil for reading and listening and use pen for writing and some say you can use either both in writing. what is really the correct one to use? please help me with this.. thanks in advance.
The picture of the goddess saraswoti on the wall surprised me if it is kept knowing the meaning of the goddess thats great idea ......but letter written in the computer is unclear some time ....otherwise perfect !!!!
lol. im preparing for my ielts test tomorrow, thats how i got directed to this video. awesome video btw! its very nice of you to make these kinds of videos. anyway just want to say that i love your example of the no position essay. its just like a really confused person ranting and contradicting himself. hilarious!
The pic is of the Godess Saraswati (a godess of knowledge in Hindu religion). It is not buddha. Anyway, it doesn't matter which pic hangs there, better concentrate on the great lecture. Thanks a lot Robert for ur wonderful videos.
Well I don't take that to be a negative question, as I don't believe the intention was derogatory. Buddhism, as distinct from the world's religions, has a lot to offer those in search of spiritual guidance. I am not a Buddhist, but the world might be a better place were there more people who shared this philosophical orientation.
Thank you for this very educational video. I will take the IELTS exam next week, I know that all your videos will really help me a lot during the exam.
thanks very much i come accross your video when there was no book or material to help me out for my training. i like the way you express the ielts writing and i will never forget coz your every word is stored in my little mind. thanks very much once again and carry on with this wonderful job.

I have a question. I have read recently an essay assessed on 8 or more, but had 360 words.
1. Can I loos a mark if I exceed 265 words?
2. Can you tell me what percentage of native English people would pass band 7, 8 and 9? Have there been any research done on such subject?
Thank you

I am taking my IELTS exam today.
Can I write headings for the passages I write in the essay?
Plz help me out.
wiltuz 2 years ago
Good question. Thanks. Short answer: No.
An essay, as the video suggests, should have paragraphs,
and each paragraph focuses on a single argument that
is developed through reasoning and perhaps using examples.
Stay away from headings - they are more suited to business or scientific reports.
