@twotonemunki I think the only reason he didn't need to scout so much is because he knows idra's play style, which is normally very macro. Bomber didn't even wall in because idra basically always gets a fast hatchery, drones hard, and plays defensively in the beginning. Against other players that may do quick harass, you should wall in and scout. I think Day9 should have mentioned this because it's probably the main reason this build worked; knowledge of opponent.

@CiabataTv It is kinda fair. Unless you're a professional player, you shouldn't be talking about balance. It's that simple. Watch the dailies, learn ways to improve and go play. When you think about balance, it's just ruining the game for you. "Urgh this is so unfair I hate it!" instead say "Hm, maybe if I did this, it would make it more possible to counter and beat that, now it's not so unfair! :D"

And honestly, even at the highest level, the only part where "balance" comes into play is not even balance at all, but rather the meta game -- if there's some new "unstoppable" strat, whether an all in or being unpunishably greedy, that somebody figured out, the only thing unbalanced about it is that it's new and nobody has found a viable counter to it yet.

but he is predictable as he mainly goes for a macro game so that is how bomber can confidently expand with so little forces

@DJCr0ssify to be fair, walling off would imply that Bomber expected Idra to cheese/attack very, very early. Idra's playstyle (as far as I can see) is macro-oriented.

In other words, no wall in = enough respect to believe Idra won't resort to cheese.

If early crisis management is a concern, use the wall at your main ramp and build the expansion command center in your main. It slows things down just a bit with the build, but it's safer.

Bomber, I'm sure, is confident in two things: his ability to manage a crisis situation and take less damage then they've expended to deal it and in the fact that Idra isn't going to all-in. These two things make him OK with speeding the build up by leaving himself open.

@MrHav1k The game is ridiculously well balanced... No game in Masters or below is at a high enough level to even see imbalance IF it exists, and the same is true for most Grandmasters. Judging by the stats of recent GSL and MLG's, I personally think that it is so balanced that any further changes would make it unbalanced.

The only time where there will be a major need for some tweaking is when Heart of Swarm comes out and all those new units are opened to the players. But that's just completely normal since there's no way blizzard will be able to imagine what kind of exploits the average user will do.
