What I meant was that it would have been great to have a man like this leading a political party on the No side in Ireland. Voting UKIP in the European elections is a pretty harmless thing to do as the European Parliament has no legislative powers. Yes, really. It only passes or rejects legislation drawn up by the unelected officials at the European Commission.

Strasbourg could be full of only UKIP MEPs and all they would be able to do is reject the EC's legislation.

Voting for UKIP domestically is a different matter and I think a UKIP government would be a domestic disaster. But I want to see lots of UKIP MEPs.
