You are so right. I grew up not celebrating halloween. And now my children don't. They had a harvest fest at my church and I just felt that it is still celebrating halloween. People look at me crazy, but I won't be moved. We are not of the world, so we shouldn't try to fit in with tht world. Thank you for this video...

What do you do as an alternative with your children? Do you have a movie night with pizza,etc? What my church does is take the kids out roller skating and have pizza. This is what we call harvest nights, not only does this keep them from going out trick or treating, but it also gives them a chance to fellowship with each other.
@praisenworship23- My husband and I have not been led to do any alternatives to Halloween. We feel that God is not an alternative for us and we do not recognize Halloween as a holiday important enough to find an alternative for. Around here, the only time Halloween is discussed is to provide information as to why we shouldn't celebrate it and how the root of it encourages things that do not glorify God. Other than that, the holiday isn't mentioned. For us, its just another day to pray :D

Hey sister! I enjoyed watching your video! Do you buy gifts and all for christmas? So you wouldn't wear a costume at all (Halloween or not?). I really like how the book (or you) is (are) explaining why Halloween should not be celebrating.
@Khadcabo-We don't celebrate Halloween @ all. Honestly, I don't do costumes period just because it is like the ultimate worship, to 'become' someone or something as part of a celebration. I just want to be like Jesus, that's all :) and thank God that I don't need a costume for that, lol. Seriously though, we don't dress up or eat candy, (which they don't candy often anyway), or trick or treat or even run the streets at night period. As for Christmas, I'll have to make a vid on that :)
@Khadcabo- Also, yes, the book really elaborates and explains why Christians shouldn't celebrate Halloween. It really is a good and thorough book. I feel blessed because God answered my prayer the next day by leading me to it. He is faithful! Btw, the author has more books, although I haven't read them yet.

My daughter never even missed it and when she was old enough to understand why we didnt celebrate it she understood and we never had a problem,
@sdaryab- Good job in setting down a God foundation from the beginning :) It really is important to do this because the Bible tells us, "Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not depart from it". Also, thank you for adding that you didn't have a problem when she was old enough to understand why you don't celebrate it. I think that 's most people's fear about making decisions that involve their children, that and something else but I'll save that for another video:)

It can be hard for those that aren't sold out for Jesus to let go of their traditions and desires, no matter how damaging it is for their spiritual life and walk with God :( We must find our strength to change in Christ in order to succeed.
