  • its not directly the physics card power that does that, it can just inturprate that, so the aegia cards arent more powerful, they just have drivers

  • @FrostXByte

    Rofl. That was pretty funny.

  • @Burn1ngSn0wMan Consoles are horrible.

  • @doom3134 why bother replying to a year old argument? ..........

  • @Burn1ngSn0wMan It depends if you still hold the same opinions or not.

  • ещё один фейк

  • are they using the same graphic card?

    which card?

  • my XFX Geforce 9800GTX+ have ageia PhysX

did the game look different when i buy the ageia physx and put it in my pc??

  • only physx supported games

  • if i have 2 ati hd4870x2 and good cpu 4x3.2ghz and 8gb ram can i play with physx?

but i search after ageia physx and the shops in germany dont sell this cards.

  • не че так, интересно...

  • aegia, is that a graphic card(s)?

  • no its a physics card

  • its a physics card but its included in mid-high grade nvidia gpus from 8/9/100 and 200 series.

  • yes ageia as made graphics card ,they are called PPU physics processing units

  • If you run a program that's not optimized for software (CPU) rendering of course it will lag. I'm running the newest games GTA 4, Fallout 3 with no lag at max settings without any need for a shitty, expensive PhysX card.

  • Well...

9800GTX+ is the way to go... not the old 9800GTX. But the fact that you said either card was crap is incorrect, even the old card is still decent.

  • How can you call the 9800GTX, still on e of the best selling most affordable cards on the high-end market a crappy card? what do you think sold more? 8800 series cards, or the ATi 3xxx/4xxx cards? the 9800 still has a much bigger hold on the market then any ATi card. Sure it is a rebranded 8800, but it has a shrunked die allowing for it to be OverClocked higher so it goes faster.

  • nVidia bought Ageia. Havok still has a good grip of the market. All Source engine games like HL2, TF2, CS:S and ETC, use a modified Havok engine. There are many games with their physics support. Though, I love Physx, honestly, Havok is actually better than Physx. Unreal Tournament 3 rocks ass with Physx,

  • 9800 GTX is better than a Ageia card. Havok is providing all of the physics in the games now, but on the other hand Ageia and Nvidia work together now, also so if your going to get a new graphics card go with the 9800GTX it's way better.

  • Umm the new 9800's come with aegia physx.

  • As do the 8800's.... haha.

  • Cell Factor for the win!

  • is this Cell Factor?

  • Looks awesome! I just ordered a PhysX card, I can't wait to play this game on my new rig.

  • Well, cloth and fluids are some of the main things with PhysX, turning it off is kinda like putting on a blindfold.

  • What's ageia PhysX Card?

It's a second "Cpu" wich is used, to calculate Physics in games. When You have got a good good CPU the Ageia card is unnecessary Waste of Money. If you haven't got a Ageia, the physics will be calculated on your "normal" CPU. So an Ageia Card is just for reducing the usage of your CPU, to ensure Gaming without lagging. Many games doesn't support the ageia, so the Computer will calculate Physics automatically on the CPU, without using Ageia PhysX Processing Unit.

  • It's not a CPU it's called PPU "Physics Processing Unit". Even WITHOUT the card you can run the game and you can even run it smoothly you just need a better computer if you don't have such a card.

  • Noob answer, because you dont even have one your self. Its in some games, that make high usage of physic (and are way more fun so) a huge performence boost (even i have a quadcore). And using PCI Slot for SLI???? ROFL. Graficcard bases Physics are stupid, since you cant do many things with that, because it can only be visual, but not interactive...

  • dude its more than 2 decades since people used graphic cards on pci slots PCIe is the shit now

  • how you turn off cloth, i cant find any where in config

  • it s called marketing adn that what ageia is doing now. i got a card and i got it out of my computer. no proper game to use it for!!! and my oc q6600 does very ok even with crysis with has some kickass phisics

  • sure the crysis physics do own but when it comes to trees its only an animation

try playing crysis on the lowest setting for all the eye candy and then put physics on max then you will see that the trees dont even move unless you shoot em

  • i dont know what all this flak is. i support any other company besides nvidia, amd, ati, and intel willing to make a stand in this shit-toss of a tech race

  • " a small portion of current game use it" yeah! Moreover when the aegia PPU is used you may have CPU lantence during explosion or other important effect which require PhysiX...! I mean a french test of the aegia physiX show in one of this current game ( I don t remember the name ) the CPU has too much information to translate to GPU. This is translated into the game in FPS crash ...

  • A lot of people don't realise if you goto the ageia site, you'll notice only a small portion of the current games use it. The PhysX needs a lot of code built into an application to be able to use the PPU fully.

Havok FX is software based physics, but good at that and well proven. I wouldn't be willing to buy a PhysX unless a lot more games use it.

  • when unreal 3 uses this ageia is a must because alot of games r licensed UT games so UT3 would be based upon ageia so Phsyx FTW

  • All the guys defending the card,u just realise that u bought a $150 or £ piece of shit, that no games use and, game developers can create better physics without the need of the card (crysis stranglehold, etc....) Dx10 was the final nail in that piece of craps coffin.

  • And when your mowing down people ur not going to notice their clothes being ripped, and dont say but what about the leaves and tress. Dx10 will do all that for you, dont say that about graphics cards (eye candy only) now u dont need to clock up your mobo with useless crap taking up a valueble pci-e slot and/or a pci slot.

  • Good to know. Maybe in the next couple years I'll be playing a game that actually uses PhysX.

  • Hmm... very suspicious, doesn't look too demanding even with all the physics. But doesn't matter about physX cards because almost no game supports it only graw and a few other games do like cell factor. I've also seen some review and the physx are not as realistic as they are advertised like clothing.

  • look at my videos i got a ageia demo

  • I think in order to get Nvidia's Quantum physics you must

use a motheboard with 3 PCIe x16 slots.

2 slots for SLI and 1 for physics. Now since they only mentioned the G80 series as supporting Quantum physics, I doubt they older cards will work as a physics processor. Now jamming 3 8800GTX just for the sake

of physics seems a bit ridiculous and think about the power requirements.

  • Actually Havok FX can run on a single GPU system with any of today's graphics cards, dual GPUs are just for the best performance.

That said it doesn't change much, it is still an inefficient way of running physics.

  • In case none of you got what I was getting at... you're all talking bollocks!

If you even took 5 minutes to read up on both PhysX and Havok FX you would know Havok is complete shit. GPUs should stick to what they are good at, eye candy. Which ironically is all Havok FX really is, none interactive pretty affects that don't really do anything but help Nvidia/ATI sell more graphics cards.

And for all you "I can run it without a PPU" people, turn the cloth back on...

  • Nah I am not trying to pick a fight :P I just wish people would read up on something before they bashed it to oblivion and promoted a different product they don't know much about.

  • I wonder if half the people arguing in here have even read up on the technology they are bashing/pushing? If they did they wouldn't have to debate it, the solution would be clear.

  • wankastic ageia haters go get a macintosh too maybe you want to videoedit and audio design lol

  • posts from sweden an uk ur so dumb too bad it hurts

  • I have a Intel Core 2 Duo X68000 processor and 2 NVIDIA 8800's. The PPU from Ageia isn't worth the money as I can easily achieve 85fps without one. The price is horrible to... My advice...Get a new processor!

  • Dude, spending £600+ on the processor "alone" to get the performance others are getting for £150 and still not being able to run the liquid/cloth physics they get is nothing to boast about.

  • What nobody seems to realize is that the software run is laggy because of the cloth simulation.

  • And all you complaining about that you really need PPUs today... quit the bullshit. Either you are from AGEIA or you probably get payed to say this BS.

Name 1 popular game (not like cellfactor, which noone really plays) that really requires a PPU.

GRAW runs fine without a PPU on my machine, and my PC isn't even High-end!! I have max settings (including 6x Antialiasing through CCC).

BTW there are no quad-core CPU's yet, so there can't really be any support for them yet.

  • I have downloaded Cellfactor, and I play it on a X1800XT. I had to tweak the installation files so it don't require a AGEIA PPU card, and I must say the game runs quite smooth. I have turned of a few settings, but other then that it runs great at 1280x1024, so I don't see what's the fuss about PPU's being required. Even if we will require PPU's for the newer games in the future, both ATi and Nvidia will build G-cards with integrated PPU's, or own PPU's..

  • physics should of been started during the video and sound card stage also the artificial intelligence cards should of been started also which would keep cars in grand theft auto from disappearing but since no one thought of doin that only 2 video card companys and 1 sound card company rule those markets lol

  • Another thing I noticed. You know that gravity gun that sucks things in for a few seconds, then it makes a huge explosion and sends them all flying about? Not a single user has been able to do it without it freezing right before that part in ANY video they ever posted. So.. PPU might be a bit overpriced, but really I've yet to see anything beat it, much less actually match it.

  • Even those people trying to prove they don't need the PPU by making their own videos of their computers playing it are getting extremely shitty fps. I want a good solid 60fps during the whole thing like it does for those PPU videos. Seriously I've yet to see a single rig run it without getting 15ish fps.

  • AMD's 4x4 = Operton with DDR Ram.

    Nothing new.

And still slower than the PPU...at least 25 times slower.

No CPU is great at SIMD...period.

  • So how many games is coded for a Quad-core CPU? ;)

    Only one...

Wich mean even LESS support..compraed to the +60 games, 6 games engines ect. comming for the PPU...

  • Ahem... Crysis will be a showcase game for AMD's 4x4 quad-core CPU.

  • Man, I wonder why Ageia even tries making PPU's.. it's just a waste of effort! Noone will buy these, especially if you are a gamer. Instead of wasting alot of money on a card you won't have much use of, you can instead buy a new Intel Quad core CPU (when they come out, soon) which you will have much more use of, and it will also have a whole core dedicated only for physics.. so wasting money on a Ageia card.. it just isn't worth it.

  • This 'demo' is BS. Plenty of people have shown that there's almost no speedup to using Ageia's hardware, and that software accellerated physics in Cell Factor are almost exactly the SAME PERFORMANCE. Don't pay any attention to this Ageia propeganda, and go do some research on the forums yourself. HardOCP's PPU section of the forum is a good place to start.. see how the users their like their Ageia physics cards.

  • No. Fuck you.

  • You are so uinformed it hurts

Running cellfator withut a PPU REMOVES fluids.

And if you try and look at cloth...well WELCOME 1-2 FPS!!!

    Do go read up...

  • You're a moron, you can try and stop people from doing their research, but they will eventually find out. Seriously check out what actual Ageia owners have to say. Cloth simulation and fluid simulation is already accelerated by gpgpu physics on graphics cards. As soon as Nvidia's G80 launches in a few weeks, say goodbye to any value Ageia's hardware has, it will have a Quantum Physics core with 20x more floating point power, read up on *that*.

  • Here's An Idea Wait For Ati & Nvidia To Integrate The Hardware Instead Of Wasting Money On A Card That 99.9% Of Games Don't Use!

  • Name me a game that uses NVIDIA/ATI's solution?

    Can't?

    Then you have your answer...

And for the record, a game using Havok won't do anything via GPU-physcis...

    It requires new gamecode.

So you want to use a solution that has 0% games?

    Terra - Clever, clever...not..

  • Havok FX is already being seen as the future by game dev's, why? Havok FX is on Xbox 360, PS3, and the Unreal 3 engine already, being added to more each day. Microsoft themselves are adding a GPU-based physics spec to DX, do a little research. I don't know if you work for Ageia or are just trying to justify your dumb purchase. Ageia failed.. game over, check out the physics specs on Nvidia's new 8800 card, then come tell me Ageia has anything to offer.

  • Havok FX (which is different than the standard havok middleware) is required for ati and nvidia's physics solution - thus far there are no titles (so.. 0.0%) that support it. It make's ageia's title list look like a smash hit.
