I havent seen any of the orange meters in SF.Itll probably cost more to install & service them then they will take in. U want a story? How about " Y does Mohamad Nuru, the DDO of DPW have BBS Wheels on his city vehicle?" Y does he have "Alunimum Rims" at all and not the Steel Wheel the Crown Victorian comes with Factory Stock? He's my neibor, it makes me sick to watch him have the city workers every couple months cleaning his yard, throwing his trash away, on our dime! Id rather give it Homeless
I'm on the fence with this issue. I used to volunteer with the Salvation Army's Mobile Feeding Unit; passing out food and social services information to the homeless. Some of them appreciated our efforts, and others boasted a sense of entitlement. Are there people begging for money for drugs and alcohol? Yes? Are there people out there begging for money because they need it to wash their clothes, buy toiletries, or aspirin? Yes. Panhandling is too complex to be curbed by a meter.
I agree! I think it's just a way for the city to collect more cash. Anyway, I highly doubt it will inspire the homeless not to beg for money. Then again, I was in the city yesterday and there was quite a huge group on every corner of homeless begging for money. I never realized how bad the problem was. But all in all I'd rather give my money directly to a person than to any governing body any day...for whatever they choose to use it for.
These "charities" spend a small fraction of their funding on actual services. Most goes to inflated staffing costs.
