They need to scale small and not be about the graphics - none of those could be acceptable at 50*50px Gradients should be rare on a logo unless they are extremely simple because it's going to dither when scaled. A logo should be usable on a t-shirt(small), print design(med or large), the web (tiny to med.). Logos are very hard to get just right etc out of chars to cont...

these logos are appalling - a strong corporate identity has to be simple and easily reproduced at very small sizes - these are illustrations not logos - there is far too much detail. scale these down to a width of 30mm and everything disappears! style wise they are also very old fashioned - 1970s and 80s. An identity has to be symbolic and suggestive. whatever brief she is given she interprets literally - a good designer thinks laterally.

The biggest logo trick is to design in black and white first (since the client will need a fax version anyway). Simplify detail to maximize usefulness. It has to continue to work at smaller scales ( like a business card).

She´s got good points in this one so give it a rest. She is designin corporate logos and that means youre not gonna be able to do your flashy/artsy "Look mom i made this!"-type of stuff. Clients often are a bunch of people with no insight what so ever graphicly or stylewise so one has to mostly come up with a consept thats conservative and simple enough.
