I never thought Hayes was overly bright. First he gets busted trying to smuggle hash on an airplane. Then he makes a run for it after he fingers the cab driver to the authorities on where he gets the hash; only to get caught and seal his fate in the process. Then he goes on to destroy Rifki's money. He should've known that Rifki would just go on and snitch to the guards and put them in more horseshit. Don't get me wrong, this is a good movie and I like it a lot, but the guy was a grade A idiot.
