the term "miao" only affect hmong in se asia to the western countries. the miao themselves in china don't seem to have a problem labeling themselves miao. if i'm not wrong, i bellieve the infamous hmong-chinese singer mee hang refers to us as miao in her song something "Little Umbrella"
So MiaoZu mean young plants in what language? Where can i get this info about MiaoZu and Miao if any different. What is difference between just Miao and MiaoZu anyway?
'miao' means young plants in Mandarin. However, 'miaozu' only refers to the people. The implication that it was derogatory comes from translating Chinese literally, character by character. This is wrong.
Young people often call themselves "miao", meaning they are the "young plants" who will be the future. They are not Miao people.
'Zu' means 'clan' or 'nationality'. There is no difference between Miao and Miaozu. It is like saying "the English" or "the English people". The same thing.
i love this song...hee hee...
and what is up with everyone talking about Miao and Hmong and other stuff? I personally don't really care...people is people...

"Miao" does not mean "Tundra" and "Tundra" does not mean "strong plant bush grass". You are wrong in both languages.
The true name is Mong? Utter garbage. Maybe you meant Hmong, but they are a subgroup of the Miao.
Please take your ignorance somewhere else.
BTW, there is no need to post your comment 5 times. Once is enough.
