  • damn i miss good pumpkins

  • The people who created rock music judge it.

  • 1 guy can't click and point accurately

A amazing song from an amazing band

  • i miss the 90's so much!!!

  • i miss the 90's so much!!!

  • Amazing song, amazing band, amazing drummer at work. Peace.

  • this was for real in 1991! siamese dream was even more magical. snaiieieieieieieieieieieieieieieieieieieieieieiieieieieiellllllllll! ( best part of the song 2.48)

  • best song ever

  • Corgan's writing is epic

  • Adore Suxxxx.

  • Kick ass song!!

  • holy shit man! i must have broke up eight pounds of pot on the cassette cover of this bitch..riding around in the jeep with my two best buds hell if i know where they are now...damn man almost twenty years passed me by quick it's a shame music today isnt as good as it was back then

  • Comment removed

  • I like their early stuff so much. I didn't like it when Billy Corgan became obsessed with the color black and techno music. I don't even like the way he sings in their newer stuff. This stuff is so raw and real.

  • @leahgoins76 Adore's an awesome album, though.

  • Back when the Pumpkins were at their best! This album is really really good!

  • i know that surfin cliches are bad,,, but,,]]!

this SERIOUSLY reminds me of BIG waves in newquay, UK,.

    those brits love gish......

  • Best song on Gish by far. Window Paine is really good too.

  • @Ioweyousome I have thought Rhinoceros is the best one for a while. We used to drop acid and listen to this. The peak is awesome to Rhinoceros. I have started to like this one more lately. I don't know why.

  • Amazing song. Listening to it is almost like having some sort of spritual experience.

  • gunge!!

  • I had the pleasure of meeting and greeting all the members of the band 2 years ago with autographs on all my cd's what a pleasure that was!! Kids don't know what kind of music this was back in the day rock on Billy. BTW they put on one hell of a show

  • @Jaydogs99 Kids don't know what kind of music this was back in the day? That's funny. Cause we all thought you kids back in the day were stupid for listening to this crap. And now those kids are calling the kids "kids?" (psst- hey kids- back in the day, this music was so not where it was at- just for mainstream pop culture art school fags- don't let this dude patronize you- we all wanted Smashing Pumpkins and Nirvana and all that Lalapalooza/Pepsi Generation shlock to die slowly and painfully).

  • @79hyperwave I can't tell if that's sarcasm, and i don't wanna start a stupid arse youtube fight just felt like saying, you're a bit of a downer, i'm only 16 now and think this music is sweet. Don't bag it out like that dude, this is genius.

  • @hchn333 Nope, no sarcasm intended. And yes, this and Siamese Dream were actually good albums (well... kinda). But all this stuff was so corporate, so mainstream, so commercial... this is a stretch, but it would be like you coming on YouTube when you're 50, and there's some 40 year old commenting- "Phaw, you little kids nowadays, you little whippersnappers have no idea what good music is, back in the day we had Lady Gaga." Understand?

  • @79hyperwave Haha, i actually do see what you mean. Good point to, thanks for replying :)

  • So beautiful

  • The lost 94 tapes version is cracked out as all shit but it's really good.

  • FLOWERS MAKE THE SUN SHINE FLOWEEEERRRSSSSS

  • I was in the 8th grade. She was beautiful, and for my birthday she gave me this CD.

  • @83yomomma lucky son of a bitch

  • @jcaps1990s HAHAHAHAHA, .... but then she left me dude.

    :)

  • Absolutely incredible song. Definitely among my top 5.

  • @Voidspirits

Look up the album Laterus by Tool...that was made in 2001....and one in 2006, 10,000 days. I love smashing pumpkins, but I also love Tool. Here's a link for a Tool song.

  • Damb this makes me kind of sad cause when i first heard this i was probably 15 or 16 years old in jr.high and now i'm going on 35 in less than a month away with 3 kids whom one of them is going to be 13 next year. where does the time go?

  • @nando19751 haha yeah im 29, i remember listening to all this music like it was yesterday. You are right, time goes by super fast. Good music stays with you forever.

  • @esham2001 Lucky, I hate being 19 and not being fortunate enough to grow up listening to this music as it was coming out. Ah well!

  • @NoRulesInNam me too im 18 right now and all my music is from the 90s pretty much

  • @esham2001 Me too

  • @esham2001 Time goes by too damn fast.

  • reminds me of my childhood

  • Definitely one of my favourite Pumpkins songs. Beautiful... just beautiful. <3

  • boy this is my favorite sp song... "When you wake up yr all weak"

  • great guitar tones in this song. Pumpkins went for the feel, and got it.

  • Siamese dream is so over-rated. I prefer "Gish" over Siamese Dream. For one thing, Gish has a darker, straight forward hard rock sound that I loved as a kid in about 94 or 95. Second, I guess because I was only about seven or eight at the time, i love it because me and my dad used to listen to it in his truck every day on a cassette. I still have the same tape, but i haven't seen my dad in years...This brings back memories for real man

  • I love that backing vocal in the second chorus, it helps the song build up to the end very well.

  • @Haushinka1000Hours you are so right. that is the perfect, perfect moment in this song. that is the bit i wait for, every time....

  • loves it, just absolutely loves it!

  • damn i love this song

  • Jimmy is a great drummer. But Grohl will always be the best to me. He hits the drum set with soooo much power. He's just an amazing drummer!!

  • @ericmeloman85

Jimmy's technique requires A LOT of experience Grohl's are not bad but they're quite simple, you're right that he punishes the drums tho :)

  • @ericmeloman85 ...no drummer compares to John Bonham ever

  • Gish has the most awesome drum sound ever recorded + Jimmy is ace!

  • Find me a better drummer. I dare you.

  • @failboats , John Bonham, Neil Peart, David Grohl, Mitch Mitchell, Buddy Rich, Keith Moon, Ian Paice. I like Jimmy Chamberlain very much. I always mention him when it comes to drumming, but he isn't better than Bonham, Peart, Grohl, Rich or Mitchell.

  • @amstell13

He's better than all of them bar Bonham dude, in my opinion anyway...But i'm glad you didn't mention Moon as being superior, although he is a legend, he is much more famous for his off-stage antics rather than his drumming (which is often overrated). And I've never heard any drumming by Grohl which compete's with Chamberlain's heavy jazz influenced power drumming man

  • @amstell13 Well. It all comes down to opinion. Dave Grohl is my favorite drummer. But I think Jimmy is better than him. But you think Dave is better than Jimmy. Y'see?

And all those drummers all do a different style of music that requires different type of skills and talent.

But thank you so much for mentioning Mitch! He's soooo underrated when it comes to drumming!

  • This is from one of my favorite albums, Gish. It's such a beautiful album. I'm happy to find it here because I'm having ipod/itunes problems. ;c

    Thanks @SoundgardenDevotee

  • The sad thing is that you have to point towards greatness. The smashing pumpkins were the greatest live, rock act in the 90s! I grew up in that era and musically Billy owns Kurt! But I also love my Janes and Alice in Chains!

  • ah yes... when that beautiful build up starts and jimmy goes crazy makes want to air drum xD

  • this song always makes me smile for some reason

  • I can't describe how awesome this song is...

  • Don't forget blind melon. It's enother band of epic musical greatness...

  • Flower takes the sunshine.

  • this kicks ass

  • It is amazing how much wonderful music this band made

  • beautiful

  • enjoy this cos i doubt any one can write alternative like this any more :( gonna be all shitty n dubz from here on in i think :( 90's was best ever

  • @pantsface111 don't worry friend, i have yet to enter the music scene yet. revolution is in order.

  • dxm ya billy greatest album of all time in any genre i swear this music is extraordinary

  • what is "dxm" ya?

  • It's a drug in cough medicine. He's tripping balls while listening to the Pumpkins.

  • I wish the pumpkins would start making music like this again. I'm only 13 and started listening to the pumpkins this year. sadly i think there coming out with a new album I've heard its good but not as good as this.

  • i think the new album is called Teargarden By Kaleidescope. im 13 too and i just started litstening to the like in the summer of 2009. i love the Smashing Pumkins!!!!!!!! they are amazing!

  • don't think any other band can really touch the pumpkins of old....don't think any other band can exactly nail the essense of what they put into their songs

  • that can be said about any rock band from the 90s. Each one was unique in some ways in my opinion.

  • Good comments people! Yes they just don't make music like this any more sadly! This track is just brilliant, what a tune!!

  • i wish i still had this cassette i remember the oldies like i am one window paine daydream listenin back in '96 or '97 with dad i was a kid, it was fantastic...

  • Jimmy's solo is unbelievable : 0 It's like sex... what a masterpiece, and so hard to play. Amazing song...

  • have you ever heard a song like this? will you ever hear a song like this?

    it is priceless

  • well foo fighters are really good too, but your right, not many bands are as good as smashing pumpkins

  • I love the songs before he put that ridiculous edge into his voice. Its just such a great brain massage.

  • how come their is no more music like this

  • if you ask me, i think that when corgan shaved his head, he lost the ability to make and sell good albums. however, i do like "adore"

  • what has hair cuts got to do with music

  • @The666thBowelOfHell it was a little bit of stating the obvious. it doesn't have anything to do with the music. but if anyone wants to be funny about it, they could say that when he did away with his hair, away went his creativity. you know?

  • @musicaleclecto lol!! i know, personaly i thought billy was fucking crazy but he was so creative.

  • everything

  • @The666thBowelOfHell A LOT! :D

  • @musicaleclecto like that guy from ancient times who'd lose his power when his head was shaved. can't think of his name...

  • @lewisaquilina oh yeah it was samson!

  • love this song!

    and SP too

  • I'm sorry to have to point this out - what music in the last 10 years is better than this?

  • @Voidspirits A Perfect Circle

  • @TheFragile89 True. True. I love their song "Pet." :3

My dad actually put that comment up, although I do like these guys. X3

  • @Voidspirits I have to agree with you there mate. This track is so good!

  • @Voidspirits Radiohead's In Rainbows...

  • @Voidspirits nothing is better or can even be compared to the pumpkin's they cant be touched not even radiohead can be compared to this , i'm not saying radiohead is bad , i listen to radiohead and i love radiohead but the pumpkins are just out of this world

  • @Voidspirits all pumpkins albums are masterpieces ,specially Mellon Collie

  • @Voidspirits Justin Beiber? and yeah that is supposed to be sarcastic!

  • Queens Of The Stone Age are a really good band from today IMO. But abosolutly nothing can beat The Smashing Pumpkins Im sure everyone can agree with me that they are the best band ever. Not to mention the song "Snail" is incredible.

  • @DX4LIFFE they are definitely my favourite band, but lately I have been thinking "Disintegration" by The Cure is the best album ever.

  • @Voidspirits seriously. you cant find this quality of stuff on the radio these days

  • @Voidspirits agreed but some of TOOL's music could mabye

  • @Voidspirits plenty... but virtually nothing in this genera. my favorite song on Gish!

  • @Voidspirits I would now say twenty years...

  • @Voidspirits frankly none.

  • @Voidspirits

There hasn't been much to compare to this in the last 15 years!!

Feel bad for the kids growing up today all they have is corporate feed that has no passion.

  • @megamo08 Blabla kids today blabla corporate music blabla....as if we didn't have corporate shit in the 90s. If i remember correctly Alt Rock and Indie were actually kinda born out of that.

  • @benski81

The music of today has no passion and it's very stale compared to the 90's Alt Rock was born as a response to 80's hair bands and Indie rock was born from Alt rock as a softer alternative. Sure there is references to corporations in Grunge rock but in away to not be so stale and uncreative bottom line is 90's music is just more creative in every way.

  • @megamo08 Some people might argue that there has been no "good" music since the early 1970's. I grew up on this. I love it. My bf hates this. He only likes much older stuff. I agree that it has gone corporate. But, you can't deny that music has progressively become less beautiful and less complex. The funny thing about is that we thought we were cool because it was dissonant and "ugly/pretty" so it was kind of sticking it to the man. Contrarily, we were deprived of beautiful music.

  • @thehalokiki You know nothing about music. No offence intended.

  • @Unremarkable1000 None taken. My bf knows a lot more about music than I. I argue with him sometimes because I enjoy the vocals/lyrics of songs more than the melodies/harmonies. He plays drums, guitar, sitar, tabla, esraj, bugle, ukulele, keyboard/piano...and records all of his own tracks to his original songs. He doesn't think lyrics are important. I enjoy the Pumpkins because of their Allen Ginsberg Howl like lyrics combined with the powerful hard rock of our generation. To each his own.

  • @thehalokiki Sorry, not sure why I said that, must have been a bad day. Rhinoceros is one of my favpurites also/

  • @thehalokiki

The fact that almost the entire later parts of the guitar solo is comprised of feedback and pick scrapes, and yet sounds so amazing is because not all dissonance is bad. Obviously you know this, but its interesting to note the Smashing Pumpkin's usage of feedback and overall terrible sounding guitar bits into solos and make it fit so perfectly.

  • @peniosasdasd Thank you for this comment. I couldn't put it better myself. It's what I've tried to articulate to my bf. With any type of art, good and bad are subjective.

  • @vansrok1 FAIL.

  • @Voidspirits White Stripes, The Antlers maybe. but I agree that its a very small list

  • @Voidspirits i love the pumpkins but anything by ozzy is better :p

  • @Voidspirits Absolutely nothing.

  • @Voidspirits well maybe not better but Poets Of The Fall are just as good as Smashing Pumpkins.

  • @Voidspirits Nirvana

  • @Voidspirits no music has been better than the Smashing pumpkins in the last ten years Today's alternative rock is lame

  • Comment removed

  • @Voidspirits i know NUTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @Voidspirits katy perry - firework.

  • @TbKBanana Please go and die

  • @Voidspirits the screams of an beautiful orgasmic woman? or maybe even that cant compair

  • i like 0:00 - 5:12

  • @peanutboy2pro WIN.

  • My god. I haven't heard this since I was 5.

  • Final one minute 45 sec- ie start at 3:24.

  • The final 1:45 is possibly my favorite 1:45 of all music I've ever heard.

  • amazing song

  • Sad day man Cassette tapes are so sweet there like a blast from the past when u find some of ur old tapes its a beautiful thing needless to say hahaha

  • Hey I know what you mean! I recently found the Melloncollie cassettes at a local thrift store...what a jem!

  • did came from a worn out cassette tape

  • This is one of those rare albums that always seems to sound a little better each time you listen to it. Thanks for posting.

  • I couldn't agree more with that!!

  • the best song they ever did. back when Billy Corgan was truly depressed and didn't have to fake it like all the crap they came out with after this the one and only great Smashing Pumpkins record.

  • good song

  • my most favorite song in the whole world

  • This album was amazing man

  • yes the greatest album they ever did , I saw them live with sonic youth so great

  • my god... i bet that was something

  • that would be such a sweet set!

  • and still is my friend

  • Descendant of Corganism at Amazon

REEEEEAl love!!!listen to this song and you'll know wut i mean... out

  • I agree, but when you misspell so many words it's hard to take you seriously at all man. Really now? Hole band? Whole*

    peace

  • I used to listen to this back in the day.

  • billy corgan still had his voice back then...

  • GISH is my favorite Smashing Pumpkins album. most SP fans I meet completely underestimate this album.

  • totaly agree

  • yeah, like, im in love with siamese dream, but gish is somehow even more amazing.

    its incredible.

  • I agree. I am one of those fans, sadly. Though recently I started listening to Gish again with a whole new respect.

  • I agree- it's the only album without a single weak song

  • I agree Gish doesn't have a weak song, but I don't think Siamese Dream does either. In fact, Adore was the first one to have any weak songs in my opinion. MCIS had some weird ones, but all of them had an insane amount of quality.

  • Hmm, quality perhaps but there's so many songs on MCIS which I'd skip, and a couple on Siamese Dream. Pisces Iscariot, though, all B-sides, is almost perfect. And the Zero EPs include my favourite Pumpkins songs but a couple of weak ones too

  • Perfect<3

  • do you by any chance have lull? i can't find it!
