  • i don`t like this recording. technical it`s very good and it sounds ok even if perlman, heifetz etc. are muuuuuch better. but i ask myself if this smile she has is real, if this interpretation is her interpretation or if she is one of these drilled asian child which has to represent something or somebody...

  • Esther Kim , I love you !

  • FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!! It´s my favourite performance of Sarasate´s Zapateado, without a doubt!! BRAVO, BRAVO and BRAVO!!!!!!!

  • What a fantastic, fun, and charismatic performance!

  • como kisiera tocar asi

  • Music hath charm to soothe the savage breast..

  • puta chica como lo menea

  • @DiegoMartinez01 es.. COREANA. Y lo de puta te lo puedes ahorrar, por respeto y demas.

  • @OtakuugiRl no

  • @DiegoMartinez01 WTF???

  • her playing is good. But is zapateado a practice piece? Did Sarasate orinally mean it to be pracitce? Because musically, it's not that good...

  • MY NAME IS ESTHER KIM I SWEAR

but younger than her way way way younger like i was born on 2002

  • Appreciable!! really.

Nevertheless this piece has been played at its' utmost best by Midori Goto.

  • did anyone else notice she once in a while glanced at the camera? kinda made me mad

  • @pinkbananas21 Yes! Who was she looking at??? I couldn't pay total attention seeing she doing that!

I think it was her teacher or something...

  • @BrendaHolandaViolino I believe she was glancing at the pianist, who also happens to be in the direction of the camera...I think. 'Cause she's supposed to do that to make sure the accompanist is following her right. xD

  • omg!

  • she holds her violin kinda weird lol but she's still amazing!

  • best version i ever heard

  • NO ARMPIT HAIR!

  • I prefer this over the 2007 performance. However, both are exceptional.

  • asian chosaky

  • no offense 2 her i mean shes good but my sister is 8 and she plays it alot better than her.no offense 2 her though

  • @turtoy1

    Wou,

Your 8 year-old sister can play betteer than Esther?

    Great!

By the way, is it possible to see and hear her in YouTube?

  • @beautifulviolin i dont know my sister is picky and she doesnt even play in recitals unless my mom makes her so hey want 2 b friends on youtube?

  • @beautifulviolin

Its quite amazing how many hidden violin virtuoso players eg @turtoy1 ...there is on youtube who claim to be better than the likes of Sarah Chang, Joshua Bell etc and in this case Esther Kim. As you say these unknown 'Virtuosos' are never ever seen performing in public or ever place a video of themselves on youtube, wonder why ?

  • @turtoy1 sure ;)

  • @turtoy1 your 8 year old sister can play better than Esther? Can she fidle? do vibrato? learn all the finger postions? i guess not because it would take like 9 years to learn all those. so ur a bitch! mmkay bye!

  • @sasusakuforevaz123 yeah she does and she turned 9 on july 21st so shut up and do u play violin? if u do i want to see you play it and upload it and i will send u a video of me or my sister. by the way y do u rite negative stuff on me bitch. so shut the fuck up and well go to hell. TTYL bitch.

  • @turtoy1 WOW all the finger postions?? theres like 30 of them. and yes i can play the violin and im not learning that song. upload the video of ur "sister" playing this peice. bye!

  • i stick what to what i say while technically it is flawless there its sounds to me too forced. i can think of little how to describe it.

  • i stick what to what i say while technically it is flawless there its sounds to me too forced. i can think of little how to describe it

  • WHAT THE WHAAAAAA???!!!!

  • Dear Esther;

If you are planning to go tu Spain and you don't have the visa don't worry, you go with your violin and play like that, and you will be welcome by the Queen and the King!!! Your interpretation and sound are fantastic!!

  • very good technique but i think that she is not mature to fully bring it off. in a few more years she will be able to make the Sarasate her own trademark but in this recording she is far to immature.

  • @Khalkin87 inmature?? is it a sing of inmature to enjoy the music??

  • que este es un Zapateado Inteligente :-)

  • That's an epic win!!!

  • She plays it so technically perfect! Brilliant

  • Te amooooooooooooooooo!! :D

    Exelente jeje xD

  • She's beautifull, her playing of cours also ^

  • Una belleza!!!!! Increible!!!! Es una de las piezas más difíciles de tocar en violín.

    Hermosa Kim.

  • Ha, I still love it!!!

  • みずみずしく生きる喜びに満ちたダイナミズムは音楽を越えて私を励ましてくれました。

    ぴょんぴょん跳ねて行きたくなりますね。

  • she keeps giving looks at the camera.

just btw, did u compete in the 2006 chamber music comp in NZ? I ask because there was an absolutely amazing violinist there by the name of Esther Kim

  • Comment removed

  • @lulwuttttttt There is a NZ Esther Kim and a American Esther Kim lol . >< The NZ Esther Kim is amazing as well!

  • 女性版、月森蓮‥。

  • lovely one. enjoyed it

  • Asherel - Isn't that the most beautiful thing about this piece? Of course, technically, it is extremely difficult and complex. But the fact that she seems to be just having a blast playing the violin, is the most beautiful thing to me... My guess is, she is so great BECAUSE of her obvious passion for playing!

  • My jaw just hit my Chuck All-Stars!

  • When it come to Sarasate, she played in sheer ecstacy..

  • My favorite!

  • She is very talented, but Augustin Hadelich's version has more character.

  • Beautiful :')

  • charming, beguiling, flirtacious. good piece for young girl ... ole'

  • bravo

  • Das ist so toll!!

  • ... que pena para los que llevamos estudiando mas de los años que tiene esa niña

  • genial ESther Kim tu frescura alegria se sienten reflejados perfectamente en esta hermosa pieza de Sarasate

  • I love this piece by Sarasate. It is the first time I actually watch someone playing it.. and it makes me feel so much.... fantastic!!!!

  • ! que maquina !

  • this song is so much fun.

  • Sublime

  • You are happy to play the violin, aren't you ? And we are happy too to hear you!

  • I remember my orchestra teacher telling me this when I was in 7th grade! this was one hard piece to learn. Esther good work, very talented and pleasing for the ears. I listen to it every time I listen to musics.

  • heavy metal

  • It,s spanish music.

    Brava!

  • she looks like a small girl here. but she was probably 14? she looks smaller that shes amazing!!

  • This sounds so much better slightly slower- I wish all the greats would play it this slow it would sound loveley all those lyrical melodies

  • wow...

  • I've seen so many older and younger people play this, but I've never seen someone play this so amazingly. I think part of it is because everyone is always so freaky out about playing or serious. She's just happy with it. This is how all music should be played.

  • She is like...talking with her violin.amazing

  • By the way...Which violin is she using here... very nice sound

  • @wooo341 actually, the reason that asians seemed to be naturally more gifted at instruments such as the violin is because their culture is far more focused on discipline, hard work, and dedication that many western societies.

  • @rebellionVII thats the easy answer, the more intersting one is because their language is a tonal language. as in one sound or word means something different depending on how high or low your pitch is. making them hit the perfect note (or pitch) in their language, it gives them a head start.

  • Shit. Talk about remarkable!

  • race has nothing to do with anything, you just need to work hard.

  • I'm in love with this peice thanks to you :) you play it beautifully !!!

  • WOW BRAVO!

  • omg, such a cheerful song! do you know, i call myself after the classical song Tarantella. hehe. my nickname.

  • haha im good friends with her (:

  • amazing......I love it

  • Fantástico!

  • To YouTube Editor, why do you allow racists to post their comments here? These racist do not even know the difference between violin and cello and its not good to have babies with their cousins. Its called in-breeding. At least Koreans do not in-breed like some of you racists commenting here.

  • How old was she?

  • Très beau ! Une jeune violonste avec une belle carrière qui s'annonce !*****

  • Her music is amazing!!!!! AND I'm a huge fan of Asian music! ;D)))))

  • prodigio

  • she looks like she's enjoying the music! that's what matters the most! :D bravo!

  • EXCELLENT PERFORMANCE.

    I am goosebump-filled.

  • nope, she did a great job on the piece

  • @Obtulkaa i agree there is much for her to do too bring it off as the sarasate should be

  • Too much chinese in what??? First of all, she's Korean, but why should it matter what her ethnic background is?

She's not talented because she's asian. You only see a lot of asian child prodigies because many people in these countries encourage their kids to take up music in the first place, and hence their talents are discovered. You would see just as many prodigies from other backgrounds if people from those countiries also encouraged their kids to take up music.

  • More Chinese please. If this is what a young Chinese (really Korean but racists never know the difference anyway) girl can do, then I want to hear more.

  • alessiobenvenuti...you're a bloody idiot for being racist...so are you saying chinese are inferior? I'm one and proud to be...besides I bet you can't play the violin as well as her-or can you even play it? as for bad staccato and harmonics-no offence: you're just a sore critic

  • WOW is all i can say! looks like she had fun. thats really fast!!!

  • wow that sounded sooo pretty(=

i play the piano but my sis plays the violin..i mess around on it sometimes and i try to play the e and other high notes and i totally screw it up..lol

  • Maravillosamente genial.

  • how old is she !? shes amazing

  • Esther you've caused my heart and soul to quivered,i have goose bums all over hahaaaaahh

  • Do you still question GOD existent after seeing and hearing such beauty ???

  • whoa...

  • I think I've never seen a violonist play that well ... at least at her age, I'm breathtaking !

  • God dammit dude! If you compared this chick with the violinist in my school, you'd laugh, like histerically!

  • I'm in the NH Phil- we just played with her a couple weeks ago...she is great! She played the Beethoven violin concerto. She's also really nice too. She studies at Indiana now. A true musician

  • she doesnt look that very old either :P

  • I think she's like around 11. I don't really know but I am sure that she is at least younger than 16.

  • If you think those freak and fancy thing that she does with the fingers are her own idea, you should take a look at the original score. Every single pluck and ornament is there.

  • this is great; she actually looks like she's enjoying herself unlike so many other 'prodigies' you see :-)

  • omg, that was so awesome.

    she is AMAZING

  • Very talented violinist, I love it, motivates, moves and inspires.

  • She is simply amazing.

  • exelente me gustó mucho saludos

  • i think 14

  • o.O this piece is great!!!

and the violinist to of course ^^

  • how old is she here?

  • Amazing!

  • i have nothing to say,... but one..

    she rock!

  • does this girl go or did go to the purcell school

  • no... Juilliard probably.. but long time ago... I don't know where she is...

  • lol vv

  • Amazing! My sister tried to play this. Reaction: utter failure

  • i don' t think she is looking at the camera. i guess she is trying to look at the pianist so that they can match.

  • I don´t think so. The piano is probably on her left side (because of public). She is cool!

  • wouw!!!

  • omg she played it soo well, and its also a really fast tempo too. wow

  • Holy crap she's amazing

  • she is so good ! i think that she is a prodigy

  • wowee!!! she's awesome!! is tis taken frm a concour??

  • one really good thing is she looks like she's having fun and not freaking out about every little thing

  • i love when she look at the camera!! oh my god she's a genius dude!

  • increibleeeeeeee!!! me ha encantado. Ese sarasate de pamplona, gloria española!!

  • Very good!!! Brava. Good sound, very expressiv.

  • This is amazing!! the violin looks bigger than her! So good!!

  • Preciosa! Pablo Sarasate es el mejor violinista de la historia.

  • I take back my comment now that i look at it.

  • this doesn't seem right, too much reverb, I don't really think this her really playing!

  • It seems it's like a game for her! Well done! A-M-A-Z-I-N-G

  • very nice

  • I agree. Esther makes the music alive.

I wish I could accompany Esther someday.

  • If I could play like this I would have a lot of fun...

  • :O You spelled 'staccato' incorrectly...

  • Than you have a great problem with your hearing ;-) Kim is a great musician!

  • Being a musician and being able to play beatifully doesn't require impeckable technique... does it?! Plus listen to that tone, intonation and good UP BOW staccato!!

  • Comment removed

  • Very good. I didn't particularly care for her Staccato bowing (too heavy and too much on the string), but otherwise very good.

  • I listened to Heifetz and Szeryn play this piece, but I like Esther Kim's playing better. she is not only technically proficient, but she conveyed the beauty of the music better because she is young and natural. Her joy of playing comes through. Thank you for posting.

  • Ditto, Szeryng is amazing too, but he stylizes it too much for my taste.

This performance is like Sarasate without the excessive makeup.

  • yes I completely agree! Heifetz IS amazing but for this particular song, I felt like Esther presented the beauty in the music much better :)

  • ¡Ole mi niña! Excelente, maravillosa, una perfecta y genial interpretacion. Muy, muy, muy buena, very, very, very good.

  • She's so excellent !

    Bravo !

  • She doesn't play the violin... she sings the music with the violin!

  • Her techniques for Sarasate are unbelievable. Great Job~

  • Cara... que peste! hehehehehe

  • yes yes veryyyyyyy goood! =) how old is she?? she's very charismatic/technical/in tune.

  • veerrrry ggood

  • thank you for sharing this good video....she is excellent
