  • this flight was not really stable because all the gain for the gyro was going into one channel meaning all the motor are in heading hold mode so they are fighting each other the next day i separate the gain and put motor in rate mode it was super stable like i have a FBL on it,

  • do a search on Youtube for "Tricopter Acrobatic." Click on the first hit. This shows some of the capabilities of a properly programmed tricopter.

  • U've been wanting to build one for a while but nobody sells a complete kit. Nitroplane could make a lot of money if you guys offered a complete kit (including the gyro board and instructions).

  • COOL, but I cant afford that even with hobbypartz prices :( I think it would be great for you guys to come out with a kit for this. A good competition to the parot ar drone if you want it, but not have to use a smart device to control it.

  • @nerdyrcdriver 4x motors $28 4x esc $30 1 ubec $8 lipo alarm $4 lipo $20 2 sticks to make an X $2 hk kk board $30 lipobattery connector wire $5 for 5 and you have just bought everything you need to build a cheap quadcopter bruv :) from there you can go fly OR start trying out some of the many flight controllers out there now :) or get wm+ nunchuk arduino pro mini and a sheild and you now have everything needed to MAKE your own flight controller that will auto level like helicommand :D

  • @0n3m1s1s0 Then show me one doing banked turns and forward flight! The fact is if you could the V-22 would be easy to build. That is why you can't take these types of setups and make then work like rotary wing aircraft.

  • @0n3m1s1s0 I build the real deal just so you know. I'm pretty sure the engineers are smarter then you when it comes VTOL aircraft design as well. I'll let you in on a secret about these setups. They can't roll cause the center of gravity would change so much it would crash faster then you can think. You can't tilt the nose down for forward flight without the CG being constant. One reason you see it turn on its center axis.

  • @panther3002 You need me to spell it out for you. Just look at the center engine. Its the only one that tilts to control direction. If you notice it only tilts forward and backwards very little. Even the side movement is shallow to keep it steady while it rotates. One reason they use gyros to keep it on center.

    It can't roll cause it has no airfoil for lift, or enough forward flight to even make enough with those little propellers. You need to understand how rotary wings work.

So, you're saying that programming the three motors using a Futaba 7C radio, for instance, as if a 120 deg CCPM swashplate, with the pitch being controlled by speeding up the rear motor (bottom of the "Y" shape), for instance, while slowing down the front motors, and roll being controlled by speeding up the right motor, for instance, while slowing down the left motor, and leaving yaw as is with a single servo, will *not* work? Interesting.....

  • @WizzRacing Wizz, you are completely wrong, and you obviously have no idea how these operate. The "center" (actually rear) motor, only tilts left right to control yaw, it does not tilt fore/aft to control pitch. Pitch and roll are controlled by varying the speed of the motors. They CAN and DO roll. It does NOT need an airfoil to roll. In fact, it has 6 airfoils, 2 on each prop. You seriously need to just shut up as your making yourself out to look like a complete dumb shit

  • @ArionRaine Your as ignorant about rotary wing physics as your reply shows! You can't "Roll" it. All it has is pitch and Yaw one reason it stays flat and rotates on its axes. You roll that thing 30 degrees and it eats dirt! The gyros can not compensate for that much roll.

    A damn rotor is not an airfoil, it creates lift thats it. The collective gives it forward motion from changing its AOA. You only get lift from one blade the advancing one. The other is given neutral status to avoid over speed

  • @WizzRacing WOW, you are SERIOUSLY one big idiotic TERD. They can roll, they do roll. AND the props ARE an AIRFOIL, The blade profile is an AIRFOIL you retard. This DOES NOT use a typical helicopter rotor, it used airplane props, and both blades produce lift. And yes, you are correct, with a heli rotor, in FORWARD FLIGHT, the advancing blade creates most of the lift. However, you are COMPLETELY WRONG when it come to this tricopter. Just do some research!!!

  • @nitroplanes Did you program the tricopter using either a 120 deg or 140 deg CCPM swashplate mode on a Tx in "heli" mode?If not, give that a shot. Each motor will plug into the respective places in the Rx to act as one of the 3 servos on the swashplate. Since the swashplate's collective pitch is linked to the throttle in this mode it causes all motors to rev simultaneously using the throttle, and to rev cyclically using the elevator and aileron controls, thus allowing control just like a heli.
