I'm not nuts over the Delphi. I would seriously try to test one of those new triolians. They might feel lighter weight and be slightly more responsive. I have friends that own Delphis and they love them. So you can't loose either way but I was not nuts over the Delphi or the Polychrome Tricone. I think the powder coating inside made a difference.
Hey! I like this guy.. He not only show's the guitars off...But he also plays them. There are a bunch of people on here that treat vintage guitars like only a god can play them so they hang ithe guitar back up. And move on without playing them.
Great video and really nicely illustrated ! Clearly two different sound, I was at Fine Resophonics earlier that year and I could testify how diffrent two Duolians can sound even if made in apparently the same metal. Of course 12 versus 14 fret is quite different vibes.
Pls advice if you want to sell some of those babies.I am as crazy as one can imagine about resonators..El Trovador rules my friend. You have a hell of great instruments.Good luck and remember me.
Im new at slide guitar. I just bought an Original Hound dog dobro. What type of strings do you recamend. I bought some "Dobro" brand steel strings and they sound like crap.
Thanks for this. I scored a 36 Trojan not long ago but I've been wanting a Trovador. This vid showed me that the Trov DOES sound "better" to me, but not THAT much better.
Did you mention what kind of cones you're using? Vintage? NRP?
I've got a pre-"Hot Rod" NRP in mine, but I'd like to upgrade to the new alloy.
original in my trojan, hot rod in trovador but it's close to the sound of the original cone. Hard to really identify difference except new one slightly more full sounding. Old one 5% more funky. In person the sound difference and huge thick warm bass of the trovador is dramatically different...
I love that Donmo. I only wish National (the new company) would make a tricone that looks like a single cone for us players who prefer the warm sound and sustain of a tricone but don't like the futuristic art decco looks. Instead they make the resorocket, a single cone that looks like a tricone. Go figure! On the plus side, National has finally started making guitars out of nickel silver, or German silver, which is the material used on the original Nationals. It's supposedly better than brass.
Yeah, I guess that's why I own both brands for that very reason. Sometimes the thinner metals can be as much of the tone as the metal type but I'm not sure any of them are really better, just different flavors ;)
These guitars made me drool. Just beautiful, thanks for a helpful video. I was thinking of purchasing a republic steel guitar, any opinion on these, they are made in texas.. Im in australia so cant get my hands on the rare beauties you have. Cheers
I think i like the trojan the best. But I am not for sure I think one of my favorite guitar of yours is that custom built sunburst acoustic guitar that sounded awesome. I also really loved the kay kraft and I am trying to find one on ebay right now!
why are they tuned to diffr=erent pitches? i preferreed the trojan but i liked the trov tuned down .tune the trjan down a step and you've got the business

Easy answer would be DAddarrio EJ-17 gauges are 13-56. Or go to my website and checkout the custom strings I sell. Good luck with it.

Yeah I bet I'd be blown away by a Trov if I ever got my hands on one. Someday perhaps...

No reason, I just picked them up and played them. I'll try to post more samples as time goes along and that'll help show more qualities I guess :)

I like 'em all but to my ear that Trov brings somethin' special to the party.
