Great Video. Would have loved to have been there to watch the start of the flow go past. Do you have any video from this location of the river when it was full?
@Cytacon This is Australia's longest river; that part of the river used to have regular boat-transport services on it... Talk about droughts and flooding rains... the river after this overflowed the banks; 11m deep and hundreds of meters wide in places, as it will be again in a 3 days...
@MGoose66 Australia sure got epic amounts of water recently, or at least parts of it did anyway. One extreme to the other. I guess the water table will be topped up and areas that didn't get rain will get some water coming their way, that has to be good news in places affected by regular drought. Just checked out the Darling river catchment basin, it looks huge.
Wow, have been searching different sites to see footage of these headwaters - thanks for sharing it. I am from the Gold Coast and can only imagine what a sight like this means to you. It is like watching a living thing - which I suppose a river system essentially is. Would love to see more footage, it really is incredible to watch.
Fantastic! Thankyou for sharing it, if it's expected to peak at 9m no wonder the neighbours will be lifting their pumps. Can't wait to see the extra water down stream in SA!
i remember swimming in the Darling near Menindie in the early 90s. The river was full then and that was normal. Awful to see it like this.
