@xnalivs hi Alison is from the UK not Ireland - she was borne Geneviève Alison Jane Moyet on the 18 June 1961 at Billericay in Essex in England - when she joined Yazoo in 1981 with Vince Clarke she was know as Alf - just for your information -
great vocal..so sad to watch knowing we lost her not long after..i remember watchin this at the time thinkin how good she was..shame she never toured with her last two albums..miss u dusty..x
such a shame it cuts off - that was a really exciting moment actually. I never expected this performance to be so good - I put off watching it but what a great last hurrah for her
Her last live performance on British TV---and as wonderful and classy as her first performances in the 1960s, but with a maturity and interpretation won from decades in the biz.
What a class act and what a fantastic performer. There is nobody like her around today.
Beautiful - As Carlos Santana said on Jools Holland " I listen to women singers for inspiration". Or something like that. True words....Pure heart and experience!
I remember watching her Induction to the Hall of Fame in 1999 waiting to record it only her and Paul McCartney were my greatest interests, this woman is my idol.
her vocal cords are clearly damaged from the years of abuse here, lost a bit of the originality/power she had in the 60's but gained a more smokier aspect to her voice
I heard 'Old Habits Die Hard' and began seeking out of of Ms. Springfield's library. What a consumate professional, great sense of humor and perless talent. The words to this song are sadly ironic. I miss her.
I was thinking the very same thing..... what an incredible white soul voice.... too many incredible songs to say one is a favourite... but I really loved NOTHING HAS BEEN PROVED. Thank God for YOUTUBE and that we can see her sing eternally... I Hope anyway..
Magical Dusty performance find the DIVA in top form as usual...nobody could ever match that smoldering soulful voice and Dusty you are missed!!! This is a great moment...
Yeah, The Great Lady was nothing short of a walking, talking, singing miracle. She always looked beautiful right to the very end. In my eyes, well, in all of our eyes, she always be beautiful & will remain forever young...xoxo
I still find it difficult to hear Dusty singing without having a lump in my throat. Same with Kirsty MacColl. This is a real showstopper. Lovely to see Dusty being backed by great singers including Madeline (Bell), Sinead (O'Connor) and Alison (Moyet). A real tour de force. xx
where's a woman to go-the bar...that sounds like a FABULOUS idea! hey, does anyone know who the chick in the long black leather coat is, the back-up singer standing by the piano man?she has an AMAZING voice....XOXO
@steve01274 I'd say the better Alison Moyet material is her later stuff - check out the gorgeous 'If You Don't Come Back To Me', 'Momma Momma'... in fact, everything she's done from the 90s onwards- all on YouTube - simply incredible. And this video is superb - many thanks for uploading.
Yeah Alison Moyet is a hugh Dusty fan, and even recorded material on a Dusty tribute album. Unfort. She did'nt get the recognition here in the states and her 2008 tour here was cut short.
It was only shows like Ready Steady Go and Top Of The Pops (don't know about American ones) that got her to mime - it's easier to produce that way. She was always live on 'The Dusty Springfield Show' that was shown on the BBC in the late 60's, scenes from which are on YouTube.
I'm going through a bit of a Dusty phase at the moment. I was disappointed to see that she mimes quite a lot of her performances. But why? When she can perform like this? It's absolutely legendary. It's a crime I tells you.
YES! SOMEONE POSTS AT LAST! The mark of a true great performer, there was something almost knowing about this performance..as if there was this last finale vibe..
I also have this on tape from the show and have tried to upload it on many occassions without success, I am glad sombody has uploaded it so all Dusty fans can see her last performance, check out the backing singers Alison Moyet and Seanhead O' Connor. Rip Dusty xx
I have this also on tape from the show and have tried many times to upload it without success, thanks now every Dusty fan can see her last performance, Look out for her backing singers, Alison Moyet , and Seanhead O'Connor. Great stuff, RIP Dusty xxx
