  • gorgeous look! I'm going to run to the drugstore now and buying this!

  • Just discovered this video after watching your 500th video, and I am so excited about it! I am buying this shade today and trying it!

  • I had to go look this video up after watching your 500th- do you know, I have owned a Tapestry Taupe, since I was in college? That and French Vanilla- I wouldn't be without those two! They're some of the very few cosmetics that I consistently "hit pan" on and go out and repurchase!

  • I never saw this video before it was featured as one of your top 10 in your 500th video but I <3 this! I am sooo bad at doing an "outer v" but this makes it seem like I'm great at it ^_^

  • gorgeous! you look a lot younger with less make-up (not saying you look old with it).you are beautiful

  • i'm going to use this look for christmas! thanks emily!

  • You look so gorgeous with or without makeup<3

  • I would love to know what brand/type that little square brush is. I think you said it was from Coastal Scents, but is there an actual name for it? Thanks!

  • You look so young and youthful when you have less make up or very "natural" looking makeup. nonetheless BEAUTIFUL! <3

  • i love this!!! i added to my favorites!!!!

  • CG oughta give you a kick-back for promoting their products! I went out to specifically purchase this shadow today and after trying it out, I really love it. My fiance likes "enhanced natural" looks on me so hopefully he'll be pleased too. :o) Thanks!

  • OK, I went out specifically to pick up CG 'Tapestry Taupe' shadow after watching this vid; my first CG cosmetic purchase EVER (!) tried it on and LOVE IT, and I have you to thank!! :-)

    Happy Holidays!

  • i saw this like a month or 2 ago and i went out and got it! i normally hate CG eyeshadows, but i love this one. It's sheer enough so it works for any skin tone!! i love it!!! :D thanks emily!

  • GENIUS!

You look gorgeous and so fresh faced in the vid :)

  • EMily this is an fabulous video...can you do more on single eye shadow looks??????????????????

  • i just bought taht color today!!

You are my fave u-tuber! You give great information and ideas. Thank you so much.

  • cool! thanks for the tip for the lower lashes! i was gna buy the collagen mascara bt im saving so i might achieve the same look except the tapestry covergirl eyeshadow

  • fantastic tutorial....Thanks, Emily

  • I've had that one color Tapestry Taupe in my makeup collection for 11 years. It is always the one color I fall back on when I'm in a hurry or want a neutral eye color. Whenever I get down to the last bit of mine I always buy at least 3 so I have them in case they discontinue it.

  • I just bought this eyeshadow,

    and love it !

  • Ah! I absolutely love this tutorial, it's perfect for me! Thank you soo much, <33.

  • Great look for the day....very useful :)

  • You look really pretty in this video because your makeup is really light and fresh. I also like how you didn't use so much eyeliner for this look. Very creative idea!! =)

  • very beautiful

  • This is so great! It taught me about brushes and their effects, too.

  • i love watching your videos because youre always so happy and smiling and i enjoy it. youre never boring. YOURE THE BEST! :)

  • unique tutorial.

  • You remind me of home - Oreana, IL! I used this the other day and WOW - thanks.

  • Such a wonderful video! I like the techniques that you used to apply just one shadow! AWESOME!

  • its nice! love it!!!

  • could you please tell me what brushes you used? thank you!

  • I'm going to try this for a modernized pinup look. White shadows and pencils end up looking like an ashy gray on me, but taupe generally works. Thank you for sharing! This is a very clever video.

  • It would be really neat if you made more videos like this in a "Super Simple" series. You could show us how to create looks that use three items or less.

    You're awesome :-)

  • hehe i totally do this too on days i have no time to get ready! with satin taupe from mac, however...FAVORITE SHADOW OF ALL TIME!!<3

  • i totally love this

  • GOOD VID :-)

  • do you like that mascara? I bought it and HATED it! and it takes a lot for my to hate ne mascara lol I thought it was super flakey and super super clumpy! Just one swip and my lashes were clumped.. it wasnt the brush but the formulation

  • Since I have started watching your videos and applying your tutorials to my make-up routine, I have received many compliments. Thank you. This is another great look. I am a school teacher so ideal for returning to work in a couple of weeks.

  • Cool :3

  • great idea for a video.

  • smaaarrrrrtttt!!

  • This is awesome!

  • LOL. I do that sometimes, when I run out of idea in choosing colors.

I normally use woodwinked or those brownish, goldish, bronze as my lid color.

  • cool trick thanks =)

  • great idea but in al honesty hun I think this isnt any quicker then grabbin a few shades and using them all!!

  • I love that eye shadow. I actually think I have like 3 of those. Its definitely a great color to wear when you want some shimmer but dont want to take the time to deal with more then one color. Great tutorial!

  • I'm going out tomorrow to get that eye shadow!! I love it, as always!! I so look forward to checking your blog to see if you've uploaded a new video, its like a present!! I love it! Thank you so so much! Also, my CVs (in CA) is having BOGO on Revlon til 8/22, just an fyi :)

  • LOL at 1:23 "Pack thy shadow"

Thank you emily! this was a great idea!

  • YAY! Thanks for doing drugstore makeups!!

  • I loved it Emily! very simple, great for on-the-go when we don't have that xtra hour to do multiple shadows...thank you for your excellent tips!

  • you sound like a newscaster :)

  • She is :)

  • thank you soooooooooo much for this video!!!I love how you have been doing alot of drugstore tutorials lately!!! thank you again, and please DONT stop making them,I love them!!! I dont use mac makeup or anything expensive(just drugstore)so i very much appreciate these videos!!!keepp them coming :D

  • great job! keep up the good work. im so glad you use drugstore make up 95 percent of the time.

  • That was a great video, Emily! Thanks very much for sharing. It never would have occurred to me, and now I can't wait to try it. :)

  • Love it! :-)

  • Thats crazy it looks like you used multiple colors ! great tutorial . = )

  • thank u emily

  • Hehe this is my mother's least favorite color>taupe.

I like it though, I think it's the most natural crease shade.

  • your so pretty! and i love watching your videos :] hahah

  • beautiful look and wonderful idea as always!! :)

  • How well do you like that mascara? I was very disappointed! It clumps and flakes on me!!

  • this is an interesting tutorial! I never thought about using one shadow to create such a pretty look! Thanks for sharing!!

  • I love taupe eyeshadow! I wear it daily in my crease. It seems to go well with everything. How does the elf primer compare to others?

  • I've used Urban Decay Primer Potion and Too Faced Shadow Insurance and I have to say that the ELF mineral eye primer works just as well for me as the expensive and more well known products. I've tested them by using the ELF primer on one eye and either the UDPP OR TFSI on the other eye. Twelve hours later...I could tell no difference between them. I'd definitely recommend it!

  • hmm gotta try it! I like the TFSI, i use it everyday and the tube lasts forever unlike the UDPP

  • Very pretty, thanks Emily!

  • Tapestry Taupe is my favorite shadow,so it was great to see it here. Thanks!

  • how much is it?!?! i want it!!!! please respond some1!

  • Comment removed

  • okay thankss (:!

  • the eyeshadow is about 3.50 USA. depends what store you get.

  • thank you (:

  • yup

  • How much is what?

  • I love that you always do drugstore and easy looks. Not everyone can afford the expensive stuff!! <3

  • Great vid! This is my usual look because taupe is so natural and easy to wear.

  • oh I wanted to come on and thank u for thetip about dollar general carrying the elf brushes. I went there today and picked up the curler that I was gonna order online with stuff and the brushes so now I basically dont need to waste ordering so thanks a bunch I got the huge powder brush and the all over lid one and the angle lid ones but I just love the curler it actually works and doesnt crip my lashes lke others so....ty again and tak care!

  • Great tutorial. Perfect use for one shadow and the different brushes give it the illusion of different colored shadows. You just keep getting better with your ideas on videos, Emily! :)

  • I like this 1 eyeshadow, multiple looks tutorial. I think you should do more videos with different eyeshadow singles too! Also, what happened to the weather hair tutorials too?

  • Simple yet polished look.

  • Thank you so much(:

    This video really helped.

I've always been looking for a cheap, natural eye look and I have found it !

Thank you very much ! I love your videos a lot(:

    Thanks again<3

  • nice =)

  • Thank you so much for this! I love taupe colors, but hardly ever see any tutorials on it. Also, taupe is a fantastic summer color, I think people forget about that.

  • thanks....its really pertty...

  • lovinggg all of your videos, i get so excited when i go to my homepage and you have created another vid :D:D

this look is fantastic for my sisters wedding this friday!! and its soo simple!

...i hav greeny hazel eyes...would you do a purple eye...for a hazel eyed person perhapss??? PLEASE? :]]]

  • This is my favorite CG shadow- along with Champagne. :) love it! Thanks Emily!

  • great tutorial :) i love it :) using only 1 e/s is a great idea!

  • This look is pretty. I think you should do a video on primer you can make on your own. To give some girl who don't have money the go out and buy things (even though elf is 1$). I see a lot of complaing on here sometimes. I use a homemade primer and it works nice. I cleaned out a lipgloss tub and put it in there lol.

  • TricaPLeeAnn, Where did you hear of a DIY eye primer?

  • on youtube, there are a lot of tuts on it. You just need to use lotion that drys fast and mix it with foundation or concealer. I usually just dab a litte lotion on my eye lid and dap a little concealer on the lid and rub it in. it works great I tested it out with cheap eye shadow. it stuck. It not as great as urban decay but it gets the job done.

  • Nice look

  • Thank you, it's beautiful.

  • Hi Emily! As always awesome video, I really like how you just used the one color. I have to say it's kind of what I do everyday and save more completed looks for more special time.

I have the mineral primer from ELF as well, I like it OK, but I prefer their studio prim and seal product better. The primer is much stickier, and it comes with a sealer to use like a pen eyeliner, it's got a felt tip and kind of a mixing medium liquid. You dip in it an a shadow and use it as a liner. good stuff.

  • That's really really a neat trick! I would have never thought to do that with the same shadow!

  • "the darker side of this shade is coming out."

spooky. haha (: love itttt emily.

  • Covergirl tests on animals. :(

  • ! ):. goshh.

that ruins everything. they're my favorite drugstore brand.

    helloooo, revlon.

    does revlon?!

  • nope! revlon is an animal cruelty free company. they do NOT test on animals :)

  • i really like that you do a lot of drugstore videos

not everyone can afford the high priced makeup and you make it affordable for everyone and have great looks!

  • can you review the elf eye primer and compare it to other primers

  • could you please review ELF Mineral Eye Primer ?

    thanks!

  • This is such a nice, simple look. You could wear it anywhere. I really like it, thanks!

  • love covergirl

  • I have this color in a quad I purchased YEARS ago, and this color is almost a 3 dimensional shade.

  • I have a color from Everyday Minerals that's so similar to that one. It's Autumn Afternoon. I'll have to try out this technique one morning :)

  • That's a very pretty color! Thanks for sharing this look.

  • could you please review that primer?

  • i have that primer.. i like it :)

  • yeah i wanna

know what she thinks of it too :)

    thanks though:)

  • work it!

  • i have been searching for a taupe drugstore eyeshadow! thank you

  • Can you review that ELF Mineral Eye Primer?

    Please and thankyou!

  • Emily- I love the color and the affordability! Looks like Mac's SATIN TAUPE...Nice job.

  • Pretty, but practical. Just what I need in the morning!

  • do you think this color would look good on darker skin?i love the color, but im not sure if it's too light or not.

  • Beautiful look! 5 stars for you!

    :)

  • oooooooo!!! love this!!!!!

  • this is so cool!! I wouldve sworn u used more than 1 colour if i hadnt seen how u did it .Can u please do more of these? Maybe a series? Different colour each video :)

  • That was exactly what I was going for!! :D If I come up with more shadows that are sort of multi-dimensional like this, I will definitely do a tutorial telling you all about them! :D Thanks!

  • Its amazing. I asked 1 of the other gurus ages ago 2 do a look using just 1 colour she said no coz it would look flat and dull. This doesnt at all I love it thankyou. Perfect for girls that may just b starting out with makeup whose parents only let them use 1 eyeshadow

  • wonderful tutorial! what other colors, would you say, can do the same as this taupe shade that you have?

wouldn't it be great if you could do a series of such tutorials of just using one eye shadow yet can show depth (and make it seem like you have more than one shade on).

    thanks again ^_^

  • emily how did i get through a year of highschool with out you:D

  • what did you think of hte elf primer? i ordered it recently but have yet to receive it in the mail!

  • i want that primer NOW!!

  • as always, i'm never disappointed with your videos...very pretty and easy look...thanks Em :)

  • Can you do a review on the E.L.F Mineral Primer??? Thank you very much! :)

  • i second this request! Please and thank youuuu :D

  • Wow I really like this look:)

  • Emily,

Love the look!! I'm glad you love this color eyeshadow. I have been using taupe for the past few years now and its my favorite shade to use alone if i'm on the run or dont want to be too dramatic with my eyes!! ~Alison~

  • Is the Mineral Eyeshadow Primer good?

  • great look :]

very simple and quick to do.

can you do a review on the elf mineral eyeshadow primer?
