Thanks for the video. I believe that mortise and tenon with our modern glues is considered as overkill in most types of furniture. On the other hand i think that dowels are extremely strong ,more than sufficient alternative and faster joint and compete in strength with mortise and tenon joinery; many tests have proven it. As far as pocket screws I admit that I try to use them as much as I can as long as the customer doesn't spot them. (makes me feel guilty) but I had no problems so far.
