@maisfeliz LOL. i just had my tonsils removed 2 1/2 weeks previous and as a result, temporarily lost all sense of taste in my mouth. we talk about it in the other videos too. and you werent supposta hear that. lmao.
@virgult Aye, but with the capo on the second fret, she's back up to Standard E. I would hazard a guess that she does it this way, as opposed to the more obvious method of tuning to Standard E and forgetting the capo, because she perhaps uses strings of a sufficiently thick gauge that she must avoid the danger of over-tightening them. But why she doesn't play it in Standard D, as on the album, is best known to Kaki herself.
A second explanation would be that her alternate tunings are closer to standard D than to standard E, and she feels more comfortable using a capo than tuning the guitar in a completely different way. I didn't notice the album version was in D... i'm going listen to it right now.
Yeah, she doesn't seem to be tuning quite that far to get to Standard D. If you can read .gp3 files (e.g. with TuxGuitar) and have the music from ultimateGuitar, you'll find Standard E being a tone too high when playing along with the album.
And yet another in my top 5 favorite Kaki songs. Such variation and so many great parts in just one song. I can't believe how fast and flawlessly she plays this live. The part at 4:54 is one of the greatest sections in music.
I'm so in love with the way she plays...

I think she's playing a bit too fast and messes up a little bit... not that anyone else is even close to how good she is at what she does.

It's not even an actual *standard* tuning, she's tuning a full step down, in D, or something like that! :D Go kaki, we all deeply love you!

Could we love her any more deeply?
