But also, you're right about them being Detroit Diesel engines. GM Contracted Detroit to get a decent motor after the fiasco with the 5.7. They can be relatively slow, but are certainly work horses. With the 375 ft. Lb. of torque mine puts out I have been able to do just about anything. I have done little things as I can to increase performance. I think that Banks did indeed make a turbo kit, but it's cost prohibative. I think the 6.5 kit off of a Chevy truck should work just fine though.
I actually just got rid of a rare car, a 1981 Chevrolet Impala 2 door, it's in the video's I've posted. It had the 6.2 diesel, (stock). This car was one of only 313 that recieved the 6.2 ever. They all went to the federal government, and most to the FBI. They were all the 2 door which didn't even get the diesel as an option and with the 4 door and station wagon the only choice was the 5.7. I swear by the 6.2 too that impala actually got a road tested 52 MPG at 65mph. I loved that car.
One of the really amazing things though is that people have just assumed that since the Olds 5.7 was such a clunker that the 6.2 and the 6.5 were just as bad. I think that the smear campaign against the 5.7 just extended to them by association. The real truth is that these engines were complete one of designs compared to the 5.7 and have been extremely reliable if maintained correctly.
You're absolutely right, the 6.2 did come out in 82. Actually the Suburban I have is an 82. I have been amazed at how durable it is. It has over 300k miles on it and still starts right everyday. It has been well maintained and barely uses any oil over what they were expected to when they came out. I just wish they made some aftermarket parts for these engines as they would be able to perform just as well as any of the new engines coming out today. I'm going to retrofit it with a 6.5 turbokit.
@heavyd2062 I recall Banks having a turbo kit for them called the Sidewinder I think. Wasn't the 6.2/6.5 a Detroit Diesel design? My buddy in Texas swears by the 6.2 and oddly enough, the 5.7 Olds diesels, he was an engine rebuilder in the Army and knew how to make them last. The 81 Olds Cutlass he has with the diesel gets 35 mpg he tells me with the 4 spd overdrive and close to 30 with his 84 Chevy 1500 with the 6.2, just don't expect them to get up to speed in a hurry.........
Truth of the matter is that regardless of which you prefer, you're going to insist that your truck is better. I'm a GM man, I have the 6.2 diesel in my Suburban. I get almost 30 mpg's and love my 30 year old Burb. does this mean it's better? It had more torque but les Hp out of the factory than either Dodge or Ford at the time, and better fuel economy. But less hp. You decide. I still prefer my simple cast iron 6.2 than these new aluminum blocks today. I prefer it over all 3 makers today.
@heavyd2062 I know that all the 3 have cast iron blocks, I know the Duramax has aluminum heads, not sure about the Powerstroke but I know the Cummins never had an aluminum head, it's a 1200 lb hunk of iron. I used to work on the 6.2 when I was in the Army, I know a little about them and what you said is true, but the 6.2 came out a few years before the Cummins, 1982 or 83 I think to 1989 for the Cummins in the Ram and mid 80's for the Ford, I think it was a 6.9L then, going off memory.
wow yall are a bunch of fags, I have to agree with mopartechnician. Not only is the cummins proving itself every day on my ranch, it out preforms my two other ranchhands chevy's, chevy's that are worked on every other week. A late 70's dodge cummins is the single greatest creation of trucks that has ever blessed this earth. (excluding the lines of powerwagons and maybe even the ford 7.3)
You see I've noticed a pattern in Cummins fans. They think they're the best. Thats far from the truth. If you educated yourself you'd know its strictly fan based. Just because the Cummins came before the Powerstroke and Duramax doesn't automatically make it better. This is like watching Ford Mustang fans fight with Chevy Camaro fans. And dodgekid83, if being a Duramax fan makes me a pussy feel free to come to Utah and fight me toe to toe. Kung Fu and Jujitsu training. I'll be happy to educate.
Wow, I posted this 3 years ago just poking some fun as I'm friends with both truck owners and we were out on the beach having fun. The comments just crack me up! I've been a Cummins guy through and through since the 70's, Cummins in my Dodge, KW and all the other big n small trucks I've driven. I like fast TRUCKS period. I mean, where else can you pull over 6 tons, run 13's in the 1/4 mile and achieve over 20 mpg in a 3 1/2 ton vehicle?? DIESEL ONLY BABY!!!
a street fighter can kick a kung fus ass, trust me, alot of my friends are into that shit and have been, can kick some ass, but no usual street fighter
Everyone on youtube has friends that know how to fight or has some badass car or truck that dyno's some ridiculous number. Post videos of your friend(s) kicking a guys ass who knows a style of martial arts. One of the most street effective martial arts is Wing Chun Kung Fu. The style Jackie Chan uses in many of his movies. And Jujitsu is a necessity simply because if someone can't fight standing up they take you to the ground.
@recniabsal fighting styles are unnececary, If you can't fight a person with how you instinctivly fight, how would you do any better by wanting to harm them by training in some gay foreign fighting style.
I have witnessed on my college campus, a regular american guy fight some faggot aisan kid that was a brown belt in tai kwan do (however you spell it)

That's the general idea of being a fan, is thinkin that whatever we're fans of we think they are the best. So, yeah...it's strictly fan based, but that's the whole idea big idea. And talking about fighting over a diesel video on youtube is dumb
@c3h9e4v7y actually light trucks ie dodge ford chevy or gmc wich ever ur identity crisis gm truck wears as a badge it goes ford dodge then gm ford sells more diesel trucks than gm or dodge and if i could afford one of these diesl trucks i go for a dodge not as tough as a ford as far as chassis goes but a powertrain that cant be beat that offers the same benifits as ford ie solid front axel
ur smoking something funny pal. cummins is the best diesel in the world. they put cummins in semi's they put em in earth movers that are bigger than your house. by the way duramax is made my isuzu so just shut up
Nothing wrong with aluminum heads. In fact they perform just the same as iron. Is it supposed to be a diss that Chevy uses a different metal to accomplish the same thing?
nahhh, they crack all the time. and who uses aluminum on a diesel!!! sure maybe those little diesels they use on sedans and other small cars but for heavy duty use?? or maybe..just maybe...the duramax was just never designed for the extreme use the cummins was.
Proof that they crack all the time? Feel free to show proof rather than talk shit. People have doen studies and have found aluminum took the exact same abuse iron heads did. And the Duramax takes extreme abuse just fine. Unless you have proof of that as well you're simply talking shit like any Cummins fan.
chevys quality sucks ass my company has 15 chevy trucks that are pussythey brake when we work them too hard. our 20 Dodges have the strongest frame and suspension and can be pushed the most without braking like a chevy. lol fuck chevy and their worthless engines.
I bought a Cummins because they clearly last longer, especially under duress because they don't have teeny rod bearings and only five mains like my v8s, but before you slam the dodge pickup itself, look at the newer ones with their larger control arms, wheel studs, bigger input and output bearings on trans, etc. They are pretty heavy duty. All the big three are superior (and inferior) in many ways over old school trucks.
lol the duramax put out too much torque for the traction he had on those wheels lol oh well you win some you lose some.
-Duramax/Allysontransmission - Ultimate and longest lasting power ask any mechanic in America if they have ever worked on an allyson transmission and they will laugh at you and tell you they've never seen the inside of one and don't ever expect to. They don't call allyson transmissions rock crushers for nothing they still use allyson in volvo semi-trucks
@BrewSquad i work for Cummins and see alot of volvos cause they only use our engines and have never seen an alision in any volvo seen alot of auto shifts and auto shit 2s but never an allision the overall design of a traditional auto maticcan handle a n14 or an isx torque load it would burn up on even a light load
Cummins, powerstrokes, duramax.. blah blah blah. Any motor can have a potential to shine better. It's all in what is bolted on at the factory. However, this is no proof of anything but the differentials and tires. I will say this, without the limiter that dura will hold 3500rpm. :D That's when they scream.
Nice vid, put some paddles on the rims and watch who wins.
Duramax had more wheelspin because it has more power :) Thats why it didnt win, and thats the only reason. The chev will be on the road long after the pos dodge goes to the bone yard. The poor cummins will be the only part of that truck that isnt worn out. :)
Chevy Duramax engines are great, but Dodge Cummins is American made if that has any influence over your decisions(im an American but alot of cars made here suck). Duramax are made by ISUZU in Japan by a GM/ ISUZU joint venture called DMAX limited.
stupid know-it-all tree huggers,i havent moded my truck cause its a mechanical motor, cant chip it,but the fuel pump is turned up with a 4 1/2 exhaust, its LOUD!!!! it shakes my house when i pull up
I love reading these discussions.. People really run their mouth today without the full facts. There is a reason why all of Europe has gone to diesel.they are part of the Kyoto occord, you know.. the bill George Bush wouldnt sign to help reduce emmissions. And dont tell me I should only use my diesel for business or else its a waste. My family enjoyes our yearly vacations in our 32 foot 5th wheel camper pulled by my diesel!
Gay tree huger's don't have a clue. I wish people would get their facts straight before they spewed comments force fed to them from society and special interest groups. Shows the lack of intelligence in todays impressionable youth. If they would only study, learn, and apply....
Oh really? Welp, lemme fill ya in on sumthin. 1) I enjoy my 25 mpg and beating the pants off alot of other cars. 2) It's DIESEL you fool, not GAS. It might help in saying 2 letters to you and a number. JP-8. It's DIESEL. 3) That ain't my truck. 4) Pound for pound, diesel is way more powerful AND efficient than any gasoline powered car. My 7000 lb truck gets up to 25 mpg. Your tofu fartin 3500lb Gore-mobile gets 45. Do the math and see who's more efficient and not just look at a number.
You tree hugging hippies are so freaking tunnel visioned its not even funny. You only look to see what mpg the vehicle gets, but you don't really look at the big picture (just look at al gore and is bullshit that he tries to spread) First off diesels burn at about 1.5 times more efficient and with more energy than gas, which in effect means that you use less diesel (yes you guessed it, a diesel uses diesel) than to go the same distance than you would in a gas vehicle.
Also do you want to talk about another hippie creation, ethanol? Well if you idiots would of done some research you would of found that it causes food, fuel, shipping costs to go up. And, the big issues, they need about 2 million gallons of water A DAY to product ethanol, that means the water already needed for crops is being used to help your crazy ides.
And, the final thing that you gore idiots overlooked, when you burn ethanol in your vehicle, your producing 70% more greenhouse gasses than you would with regular old dinosaur bones, and when you use e-85 or any other blend of ethanol, you have to essentially use 1.5 times more gallons of gas to go the same distance.
If you actually knew anything about diesel, you would know that it has gone up tremendously in price because now everybody trasferred over to fucking diesel. Just shut the fuck up.
I bet I know more about the engine than you know about global warming, dude I went to college to work on cummins, and I worked on them for three years, I guess I know just a little. The reason diesel has gone up is becuase the idiots have converted most of the refineries to make ethanol and whats that mean? Supply and demand. Do you realize how much water it takes to produce ethanol everyday? Do you know that ethanol produces 70% more greenhouse gasses than plain ol' gas.
So I guess it's all Dodge, Ford, Chevy, GMC, Honda, Toyota, Mercedes, VW, BMW and countless others fault for making diesel powered vehicles. Go to Europe, majority of the cars there are diesel and get 50% better fuel economy with same power as gas. Oh, and your government knows what's best for you. Now everybody transferred? Diesel cars trucks have been here since the 70's. They're more popular now due to the power and efficiency. I've been around diesels for about 20 years.
I didnt say diesel you fuck face, I said all these big engines with so much unneeded horsepower, its a waste! And it wastes gas too end of discussion.
Didn't say diesel eh? Wow, don't we have a very short term memory. We actually USE our trucks, you know, to WORK, tow trailers and such. And my old GAS truck towing the same trailer loaded with a car I have gets only 8 mpg. My DIESEL truck gets 16 mpg. Stick to something you know about instead of what your Gov't spoon feeds to you, as hard as that might be. We can turn on and off this extra power with a push of a few buttons. Some people would rather have fun with engines like my 2 friends here.
Cars and trucks these days need to make at least 50. Take for instance the Toyota Prius, one of the, if not, the most fuel efficient car in the U.S. today.
Show me a Prius that gets 16 mpg towing a 8000lb load you short minded tree huggin retard. You sure don't know how to read. As usual, you only see a number, you don't read the whole story. Maybe a Gore Mobile serves your needs, but not mine. Worry about the soccer moms with the H2's and Suburbans, like they really need them to take the kids to school. I NEED a truck to pull trailers and to help me with my job. A DIESEL truck is the most FUEL EFFICIENT vehicle to do my job and make me money.
Well the moms are just as bad. But you really do not need to tow 8000 pounds unless it is for your own business. If you just dont need to tow anything and just have it for fun, then it is a waste then.
You're a worthless piece of shit. I can bet that you're sorry bitch ass is going to vote for Obama or Clinton just because you're a feeble minded media politic spoon fed assfuck. You need to take your little cheap sorry excuse for a car and drive off a cliff with your kids if you have any (Don't want to pollute to world, sound familiar?). I drive around all the time w/o a load w/ my Smarty tuner cranked up to 170 and blow black soot everywhere just to piss people like you off. Die cunt.
Yes, I'm an uneducated redneck that owns 2 40k + trucks and a nice house. I must be doing something right you dumbfuck.. I iz gonna trade my trucks in for a shitmobile likez youz.
O.. My bad.. Guess you own plane and park it in your driveway and drive it to the local gaybar. STFU you loser, no one cares what you do for a living, fact is that you came here to based on the title of the video just to leave stupid comments to make even people that don't know you wish you'd crash in that fucking plane you fly. Give up and go watch hybrid racing videos and preach to people who give a fuck.
Dude i dont care what you say you are not getting 16 mpg pulling. Trust me i am all about the diesel and there is no way in hell you are getting that mileage pulling. Quit looking at what your computer says and pencil it out for once.
Did it several times, 500 miles on the same tank pulling an SRT 10 Ram on an open car trailer at 60 mph. I had to hand figure the miles, that's how I got paid, customer didn't believe it either, saved him lots of money. Computer was reading 18. Pulling 6000 lb travel trailer, aka brick, I get 14. What probably helps is my truck is a 2wd short bed, the lightest diesel Dodge makes, if you can call 6700 lbs light and just takin it easy.
If you got it, a truck brought it. Including your tofu, your Prius, and everything you buy. Yup. Brought to you by me, your local truck driver. How much mpg should my 40 ton truck get, huh?? Make my costs go up and you're gonna pay, literally. I hate tree huggers. They make everyone else's lives miserable just to benefit themselves. We lost many good recreation spots to them. Bio diesel is the way to go today.
@bigcamcummins hell yea big cam fucckin hyuppie scum suckers make diesel burn more fuel no just so it looks cleaner wtf? pisses me off not to mention i haver to fix all the new emmisions bullshit they stick on my engines oh btw diesel is zero emmisions now so u hippies can suck a dick diesel = zero emissions more power and economy than a fuckin prius and yea these fuck tards have no idea about the big trucks on the road they just dont get it
People like you are the reason why i blow past hybrids, cut them off, and then lay the coal all over their peice of shit car. All with a smile on my face : )
Actually the price increase came the same time the switch over to the low sulfur diesel that is now being used. The process of refining to create this new low sulfur version costs more, and robs power...yet another donation from our lovely government!
Shows what you know. Let me know what you plan to do when those batteries die after about 100,000 miles. I'm sure they're very environmental friendly. Now, go and find a tree to hug before you start crying. Idiot.
the Highest HP diesels are the Cummins and Duramax but in stock form the Duramax is faster but i will say this all trucks have their good sides and their bad sides so theres nothing to be mad about just facts..
the Cummins is the king of high HP diesels but IMO they forgot to put it in a truck worth typing about..
Agreed Dodge in terms of overall truck are very well built, they don't last. GM has a really nice combanation going with the DMAX and Allison tranny. But if they put a Cummins with the Allison, that would be insane.
Dude you need to do some research! Cummins is made by Cummins. I own landscaping co. and we have all makes up to 11 trucks that tow all year long and when not towing we are plowing. The gasser Dodge trucks have the best maintance record in our fleet followed up by the 3 Cummins we have.I had better luck with the Ford gasser then the Powerstroke. But have friends that had great luck with them. Proof is in the maintenace records for me and my mechanic, for us any way.
alright, thank you...well there seems to be a discrepancy in info. my apologies, i had a buddy who works on and drives the cummins kinda like u but not for a landscaping company, but i trust him with everything i need concerning trucks, and he has had his for a long time, i just heard the info from him...naturally thinking it was correct. thanks, again, sry bout that..
but duramax isnt really that great, fords (my favorites) have desent diesel and gas models, and im pretty sure again that dodge has the best for diesels on the line, but i agree that ford doesnt have much in the way of gasoline lines...or dodge for that matter.
motoxkid92 first of ford doesn't own cummins or they would use them as their diesel engines and the cummins engine is the best diesel engine out for pickups
yea, i know dodge owns cummins... but it might just be rumors, but heard ford started somethin with cummins a long while ago... im sorta agreeing with mth1492
well cummins is its own company the ford thing is they use them in their medium duty trucks like the f-650. And i sort of agree with him two i think that it would be amazing if they stuck a cummins into a super duty but the gas super duties are a joke, I'd still rather have a ford then a Chevy though
just to set you ford and chevy lovers straight... the dodge ram has more torque, HP (and if modded, the CTD is the only truck which can get over 1000+ HP other than 1 duramax), power, and is much faster. look it up gentlemen and ladies.
i am still searching for the site where i read about the 1000 HP trucks. once i find it, ill post it. then we'll compare and contrast. lol. but i read that there was only 1 duramax. ill look it up and let ya know exactly what i find.
uhh your goin to have to spend a lot more than a couple hundred bucks to make over 1000 rwhp, jus a tuner alone will get you 200 more hp and torque at best.... to get 1000 pry propane, nitrous, some tuner, and an endless list
Uhh, they're in soft beach sand with 7500lb trucks. And I wasn't implying who's better. But we all know real trucks have all their cylinders in a line of 6....
the duramax is built in the u.s. isuzu is owned by gm. gm and isuzu designed the engine nothing wrong with cummins just that they are in dodges. ford chassis are made in mexico. i had an o3 F250 and now an 06 d-max 2500. so my point is we outsource everything.
But also, you're right about them being Detroit Diesel engines. GM Contracted Detroit to get a decent motor after the fiasco with the 5.7. They can be relatively slow, but are certainly work horses. DieselMX34 2 years ago
Nothing wrong with aluminum heads. In fact they perform just the same as iron. Is it supposed to be a diss that Chevy uses a different metal to accomplish the same thing?
recniabsal 2 years ago
nahhh, they crack all the time. and who uses aluminum on a diesel!!! sure maybe those little diesels they use on sedans and other small cars but for heavy duty use?? or maybe..just maybe...the duramax was just never designed for the extreme use the cummins was.
DieselMX34 2 years ago
Proof that they crack all the time? Feel free to show proof rather than talk shit. People have doen studies and have found aluminum took the exact same abuse iron heads did. And the Duramax takes extreme abuse just fine. Unless you have proof of that as well you're simply talking shit like any Cummins fan.
recniabsal 2 years ago
chevys quality sucks ass my company has 15 chevy trucks that are pussythey brake when we work them too hard. our 20 Dodges have the strongest frame and suspension and can be pushed the most without braking like a chevy. lol fuck chevy and their worthless engines.
MPLSTORM 2 years ago

Nice vid, put some paddles on the rims and watch who wins.
steveo999911 3 years ago
GoGO you are retarted, the duramax diesel isn't made in japan its made in Ohio. ISUZU helped design the duramax but they don;t build them.
ChevyPowa670 3 years ago
that was all about tire traction, switch tires on those trucks and the results would be different
sotso 3 years ago
Duramax had more wheelspin because it has more power :) Thats why it didnt win, and thats the only reason. The chev will be on the road long after the pos dodge goes to the bone yard. The poor cummins will be the only part of that truck that isnt worn out. :)

Chevy Duramax engines are great, but Dodge Cummins is American made if that has any influence over your decisions(im an American but alot of cars made here suck). Duramax are made by ISUZU in Japan by a GM/ ISUZU joint venture called DMAX limited.

Plus I heard on the "Open Road" station that ethanol fuels are some 60% LESS efficiant than straight gas or diesel.
jdmitchell2 4 years ago 2
See the little disclaimer on the GM vehicles running E85? They're a few mpg LESS than gasoline.
olznut 4 years ago
Hippocrate. Do you realize hybrid cars kill the Earth too? Go get a bicycle - just don't get in my way or you will get SMOKED.
CumminsTechnician 4 years ago 2
First of all this is so stupid. What dumb Americans we are. Do you realize how much gas you just wasted. Go get a hybrid and be smart.
MoxleyMauser 4 years ago
We didn't waste any GAS. You waste more GAS in your tofu fartin' Gore Mobile than our trucks EVER will.
olznut 4 years ago
You obviously dont know what your talking about you redneck fool.
MoxleyMauser 4 years ago
Do the math and see who's more efficient and not just look at a number.
olznut 4 years ago
You tree hugging hippies are so freaking tunnel visioned its not even funny. You only look to see what mpg the vehicle gets, but you don't really look at the big picture (just look at al gore and is bullshit that he tries to spread) First off diesels burn at about 1.5 times more efficient and with more energy than gas, which in effect means that you use less diesel (yes you guessed it, a diesel uses diesel) than to go the same distance than you would in a gas vehicle.
mopartechnician 4 years ago 5
@mopartechnician that is 100 percent true
36crazyfists63 1 year ago
Also do you want to talk about another hippie creation, ethanol? Well if you idiots would of done some research you would of found that it causes food, fuel, shipping costs to go up. And, the big issues, they need about 2 million gallons of water A DAY to product ethanol, that means the water already needed for crops is being used to help your crazy ides.
mopartechnician 4 years ago 4
And, the final thing that you gore idiots overlooked, when you burn ethanol in your vehicle, your producing 70% more greenhouse gasses than you would with regular old dinosaur bones, and when you use e-85 or any other blend of ethanol, you have to essentially use 1.5 times more gallons of gas to go the same distance.
mopartechnician 4 years ago 3
If you actually knew anything about diesel, you would know that it has gone up tremendously in price because now everybody trasferred over to fucking diesel. Just shut the fuck up.
MoxleyMauser 4 years ago
I bet I know more about the engine than you know about global warming, dude I went to college to work on cummins, and I worked on them for three years, I guess I know just a little. The reason diesel has gone up is becuase the idiots have converted most of the refineries to make ethanol and whats that mean? Supply and demand. Do you realize how much water it takes to produce ethanol everyday? Do you know that ethanol produces 70% more greenhouse gasses than plain ol' gas.
mopartechnician 4 years ago 3
So I guess it's all Dodge, Ford, Chevy, GMC, Honda, Toyota, Mercedes, VW, BMW and countless others fault for making diesel powered vehicles. Go to Europe, majority of the cars there are diesel and get 50% better fuel economy with same power as gas. Oh, and your government knows what's best for you. Now everybody transferred? Diesel cars trucks have been here since the 70's. They're more popular now due to the power and efficiency. I've been around diesels for about 20 years.
olznut 4 years ago
I didnt say diesel you fuck face, I said all these big engines with so much unneeded horsepower, its a waste! And it wastes gas too end of discussion.
MoxleyMauser 3 years ago
Didn't say diesel eh? Wow, don't we have a very short term memory. We actually USE our trucks, you know, to WORK, tow trailers and such. And my old GAS truck towing the same trailer loaded with a car I have gets only 8 mpg. My DIESEL truck gets 16 mpg. Stick to something you know about instead of what your Gov't spoon feeds to you, as hard as that might be. We can turn on and off this extra power with a push of a few buttons. Some people would rather have fun with engines like my 2 friends here.
olznut 3 years ago
Well 16 mpg just fucking fabulous!!
Thats a fucking awful gas mileage you retard!
Cars and trucks these days need to make at least 50. Take for instance the Toyota Prius, one of the, if not, the most fuel efficient car in the U.S. today.
MoxleyMauser 3 years ago
Show me a Prius that gets 16 mpg towing a 8000lb load you short minded tree huggin retard. You sure don't know how to read. As usual, you only see a number, you don't read the whole story. Maybe a Gore Mobile serves your needs, but not mine. Worry about the soccer moms with the H2's and Suburbans, like they really need them to take the kids to school. I NEED a truck to pull trailers and to help me with my job. A DIESEL truck is the most FUEL EFFICIENT vehicle to do my job and make me money.
olznut 3 years ago
Well the moms are just as bad. But you really do not need to tow 8000 pounds unless it is for your own business. If you just dont need to tow anything and just have it for fun, then it is a waste then.
MoxleyMauser 3 years ago
You're a worthless piece of shit. I can bet that you're sorry bitch ass is going to vote for Obama or Clinton just because you're a feeble minded media politic spoon fed assfuck. Dude i dont care what you say you are not getting 16 mpg pulling. Trust me i am all about the diesel and there is no way in hell you are getting that mileage pulling. Quit looking at what your computer says and pencil it out for once.
chas212007 3 years ago
Did it several times, 500 miles on the same tank pulling an SRT 10 Ram on an open car trailer at 60 mph. I had to hand figure the miles, that's how I got paid, customer didn't believe it either, saved him lots of money. Computer was reading 18. Pulling 6000 lb travel trailer, aka brick, I get 14. What probably helps is my truck is a 2wd short bed, the lightest diesel Dodge makes, if you can call 6700 lbs light and just takin it easy.
olznut 3 years ago
okay man that make sense that you were driving 60 with a 2wd...that is hella good tho cummins is the shit
chas212007 3 years ago
If you got it, a truck brought it. Including your tofu, your Prius, and everything you buy. Yup. Brought to you by me, your local truck driver. How much mpg should my 40 ton truck get, huh?? Make my costs go up and you're gonna pay, literally. I hate tree huggers. They make everyone else's lives miserable just to benefit themselves. We lost many good recreation spots to them. the Highest HP diesels are the Cummins and Duramax but in stock form the Duramax is faster but i will say this all trucks have their good sides and their bad sides so theres nothing to be mad about just facts..
the Cummins is the king of high HP diesels but IMO they forgot to put it in a truck worth typing about..

2bad440 4 years ago
alright, thank you...well there seems to be a discrepancy in info. my apologies, i had a buddy who works on and drives the cummins kinda like u but not for a landscaping company, but i trust him with everything i need concerning trucks, and he has had his for a long time, i just heard the info from him...naturally thinking it was correct. thanks, again, sry bout that..

No problem. beleave half of what you see and nothing that you hear.
2bad440 4 years ago
not 100% shure bout that, but i did hear around by that it was made by ford... (would explain why there crap) but i think ur right
motoxkid92 4 years ago
but duramax isnt really that great, fords (my favorites) have desent diesel and gas models, and im pretty sure again that dodge has the best for diesels on the line, but i agree that ford doesnt have much in the way of gasoline lines...or dodge for that matter.
mth1492 4 years ago
motoxkid92 first of ford doesn't own cummins or they would use them as their diesel engines and the cummins engine is the best diesel engine out for pickups
jonxmartini 4 years ago
yea, i know dodge owns cummins... but it might just be rumors, but heard ford started somethin with cummins a long while ago... im sorta agreeing with mth1492
motoxkid92 4 years ago
well cummins is its own company the ford thing is they use them in their medium duty trucks like the f-650. And i sort of agree with him two i think that it would be amazing if they stuck a cummins into a super duty but the gas super duties are a joke, I'd still rather have a ford then a Chevy though

dodge doesn't own cummins, dodge simply has a contract with them to use one of their engines in their pickups
