I have a question and cant seem to find the answer too. Im going all out with passive speakers. with a pair of JBL active speakers for home and house party use.
BUT whats your opinion of a passive speaker with a bi-amp option??? I found a Behringer 18' passive 1600w with a biamp option. And whats your opinion of Behringer speakers? Ive been a fan of Mackie.
but if you were doin a gig for The Borrowers.......them speakers would be plenty big enough - in fact, you'd probably blow the little bleeders away with them!!
For my small gigs i use 2 prosound 400w speakers with a prosound 1000w amp. For my bigger gigs i hire out a system with JBL tops & bins. People often run down maplins dj equipment, but I have to give it credit where credits due, it lasts me.
I think Bose came up with the idea for powered speakers where one unit houses the amps for both speakers. They did the Bose 102's in an active version. Designed at the time for the growing trend for portable CD players and used the same driver as the Bose 802's (although the 802 had eight of them!)
I'd make a vid but don't have the stuff to put vid's on youtube. I had the Electro-Voice Force i25 dual 15 speakers and let me tell you for the price, they are my favorite dual 15's. Great stand alone speakers.
When i can use my paypal again instead of buying a game ill be donating it to you! Ill been watching these vids for ages and they are so helpful and fun to watch. Ill then save up for a set of decks lol
With the speakers you previewed, would/could you possibly use them for a house party? I'm doing a Halloween gig in about 1000sqft space. What speakers would you recommend? I'd like to include a sub/bass speaker with my configuration.
always best to go hear any speakers before you buy. compare what you think you want with what they have in the showroom. (no one has all speaker brands - but the comparison is very important)
These tiny speakers are great for maybe a setup in your apartment etc... where you can make too much noise. Also maybe monitors when your on the road but that's I guess debatable. :)
Hello, great vid, but just a little question, I've got a nice external soundcard (M AUDIO FASTTRACK PRO), and I'm going to buy some studio monitors. What do I need, passive or active monitors?
Hi, i would go for active if i were you, mainly because the internal amp is designed for the speakers, it's cheaper then standalone amp and speaker setup and it's less hassel to setup. Anyway your soundcard will not put out much watt so you need some kind of amplification. One tip: Don't ever amplify with a hifi radio system or something like that it will screw up your beatmixing!
for studio purposes i would recommend some active speakers because the sound isn't changed by an external amplifier and the sound is much more "origin", which is kind of important for studio monitors. i can recommend the KRK RP-5G2...one costs 150€ in germany (so 300 a pair) and they sound great. they're active, too.
sorry for my sucking writin, but my keyboard is fucked up...:(
a bottle of beer fell on it and the buttons are sticky, now...^^
Nothing is worth more than what you paid for it. Simple rule of the economy. You buy a speaker cheap, you get a cheap speaker. What the question is, is if it's suitable for your purposes.
Whats with the nagging about the wire colour??? As long as they don't get swapped at the terminals, so putting the speakers out of phase, it doesn't really matter.
The black line is only there to help identify the same cable at the end of the run. They could be any colour as long as you know which is which.
If it really mattered, one would be solid red and the other solid black.
I'm not an electrician, that's why I ask dumbie questions. But, can a wire....the wire itself.... be set as positive or negative? Wouldn't the power source determine its polarity? If that's the case, as long as you match them, it shouldn't matter.
hi, any wire can be + or - but if you set one to + the other side must be +, other wise you get what is known as fazing and this is when the sound seems to be holow and you have no bass! j
I Would certainly take them to a gig. They are Moniters, and when the crowd is full, you won't be able to here to sound coming out the system, it's either moniters or headphones.
its called a bi-amped speaker :D

hi, these speakers are too small, but you can get biger ones, same make, for a house party the 12"active would be fine. j

I recommend Passive speakers. Here's why!
1: They're cheaper
2: They're Lighter. When you're lugging these things around a lot as a mobile DJ, weight is a big issue.
3: With the money you save, you can buy one of those digital amps that are only 17lbs each. Again, its all about saving your back!
I'd only to active speakers for a 2nd smaller system, say, for ceremonies....
DJCyRo 3 years ago
so what are passive speakers?
quangphangbang 3 years ago
it needs an external source of amplification. active speakers have amplifiers built in
djhemag 3 years ago
without amp

But I think I ´ll have to agree with etsiej and DJCyRo!
Are you sure about that??

Great video.
Anyone wanna give me some speakers? xD.
lorrenzo13 3 years ago
Wrongly J.
The cable with the black line is negative and full red is positive. you have also speakerkabel which have only full rood and full black.
it has a black line so you dont cross the cabel.
