  • Oh, the politicians - just like Vietnam.

If it had been left to the military, it will get resolved.

Innocent people in war A L W A Y S will get injured, killed and families ruined.

    How long ?

    Do you want to dance?

Get in and lay down the authority.

  • It's great that our guys were giving out gifts, that actually made me feel quite emotional. However, I felt mixed emotions...giving the elders turbans and radios seemed so insignificant and frivolous having destroyed their homes and livelihoods. I felt sympathy for the elders..

  • if you think about it this is the start of world security,

  • last 2 mins... whats the song pls

  • @EvoXism Moby - God moving over the face of the waters

  • @BigDaz omg wtf i love you.... looking 4 it sooooo long!! Haha hear it at x factor 2 years ago ^^ :-*

  • May God bless and protect these brave men and all others fighting for our safety. These warriors should be honored like heros, because the truely are! My gratitude to the British Marines!

(I also personally knew many US soldiers and marines who was stationed in Iraq; and I want to join the US Navy after high-school.)

But until then, I, and the rest of us all hold these people in high respect! We owe them our safety!

  • Thanks Sweden. The British really are the deal: modest, decent, realistic.

  • 5 years on we are still there

  • British Soldiers are good Army should come back

  • lol the goverment is always corrupt

  • Respect to the british !

    from Sweden

  • Damn, I bet that the guided missiles you are using cost 10 fold the price of the buildings they destroy.

My uncle was a merc. for the Soviets back in the 80's , a Mi-8 pilot, by his words Afghanistan is a place that a westerner can not understand .

May all your soldiers return home alive and well.

  • lol ' welcome to my carpet'....: |

  • what the hell are the elders going to do with a radio?

  • @ghost41894 Well listen to broadcasts seems the obvious answer.

  • @ghost41894 so they can listen to afghan radio... ( pro coalition radio )

  • @ghost41894

They love the news on the radio, allows them to be connected - in the know

solar-powered, hand-cranked radios to Afghans who live in remote places or lack the means to access news and information.

    OMLT,

  • @ghost41894 Imagine if they where bugged so the British could hear what they where saying. I think though the British broadcast pro government propaganda.

  • Cornel and General is a fuckin a Joke.

  • 10:34 there is a fucken afghan ginger!!!

  • don't children just love to argue... ;)

  • Funny how everyone who comments on these things are suddenly experts on all matters military. Learn a thing or two about both American and British Army/Marines before you make yourself look ignorant.

  • Indeed, Reddhawk. Thanks God there are free open books at everycorner library. Vietnan mistaken tactics and Nazists-NATO treachery alliances, as examples.

  • poeple dont even argue with yanks about whos best Brits or yanks, just watch the clips see the imature americans yellping and screaming ,while the Brits just get on with it while underfire,i havnt yet seen a yank give a fire control order ie add one hunred ect ect there bloody useless i wish they would give us ther kit and leave us to it

  • I like your spirit, but disagree, haha

  • Yea, that video were the Americans doing all this woo shit, i posted a few comments on that, the Brits as youre right just get to it.

  • win the firefight ,fight through , re org

  • I'm about to join the army as a royal engineer, i hope to be attached to the royal marines, because they are the best regular army fighting force. I've got nothing but respect for what they do. Glad to see they're finally getting noticed. They go through hell for other people to be free.

  • Who did you join?

  • I'm joining the royal engineers as an electrician, I have to be attached to a regiment, I'm hoping to get in with the marines, I know a few marines and they are hardcore. As the ad says 99.9% need not apply, I want to be with the other 0.01%

  • probably just genral, because if you follow the marines to somewhere like kandahar, the dutch, canadians, americans are thire etc, so if the americans need a technician urgently, and the brit is available theyll use the brit. Like if you watch back in the videos, they called on a dutch aircraft for support.

  • God bless the soilders in afganistan and iraq along with the people of those nations and their mission.

  • @Zyx340 The British are our cousins. Almost every American can trace their families ancestors to England. I'm an American. My father came from Puerto Rico in 1953. My grandmother came from Scotland in the 1921. England is our mother country. We must acknowledge it. Also kill those dam fucking muslims. They need to get the fuck out of our country. Like Patton said the U.S., and the U.K. are brothers in arms. I'm also a veteran of Jonestown, Guyana. Jim Jones.

  • @Seysheisa just settle down the IRA.they also a terrorist not only the muslims

  • @Seysheisa every american can trace thier families back to england?? what about Poland, Italy, GERMANY ( by far most ), French, Dutch etc.?

  • @DutchPetriot actually most of Americans are Scottish, Irish and mexicans

  • @vxphsycoxv that is not true. the largest group of white americans is from german origin: 17.1 percent. Or look it up on wikipedia:Race and ethnicity in the United States

  • Well done our lads! Best armed forces in the world, bar none. I hope the Taleban get wiped out & Afghanistan gets back on it's feet again... :)

  • The reporter is a little biased against the military effort. And why so critical. The arguments are crystal clear. The Afghans hate the taleban, and think that the ISAF overall are doing a good job. You can't just win this kind of war overnight. But a ambitious journalist like him want to broadcast some flashy resualts, and get's disappointed by a slow but steady progress.

  • i am amazed by the video . its a lot harder to fight .. i shit my pants when they were firing .... that was some tight shi out thea.

  • I am from Afghanistan and lived under the dark Taliban domination. They destroyed my country and killed thousands of innocent people. They are wild animals who still kill my people every day by roadside bombs and suicide attacks on the streets of Kabul and other cities in Afghanistan. There is no place for them among the oppressed people of Afghanistan. Save humanity from them. Fuck them and kill them.

  • Indeed mad respect to the British. Though they model their armies after us, they operate under a completely different military doctrine. Good job lads. I'll see you on the other side! (USArmy) Hooah

  • Nice comment but please explain how the British Army is modelled on the US?

  • While I respect US Forces immensely, I have to say that no Commonwealth force, (British, Australian, New Zealand, etc etc) models itself on US doctrine..

But, it is true that we do train a lot with US Forces in order to familiarise each other with how the different services of the respective nations work. In this way, misunderstandings can be reduced and combined operations can take place without mistakes.

  • well said...

  • If anything the entire US Military is modelled on the British system. The British Military was around well before the USA was even on anyones conscious.

  • superstupidface, your name describes you, death of AA troops are in thire thousands death of Brits are in thire hundreds, i think that explains it all really, we dont 'model our army after yours' the fact is, if countrys didnt have armys or strong enough ones, they would get invaded, so just because America has a strong army, dosent mean people follow you country.

  • This war could have been won 6 years ago if the US hadn't messed it up. Instead of instantly starting on reconstruction projects in the south of the country US instead started building military bases and randomly bombing villages. So they lost their chance to win the hearts and minds of the people.

Now the brits have to clean up the mess the yankees left. Poor brits. I feel for them and I can understand if they feel frustrated.

  • Yeah i see your point but without those bases you cant start construction projects because if you dont have bases you have no soldiers and if the workers start getting attacked were do the soldiers come from to help them ? thats why bases need to be built first. What they should do is bomb the poppy fiels, they keep sayin they have heroine and drugs, they patrol these fields all the time and dont do anything about it.

  • yeah of course bases are needed but at the same time a heavy reconstruction project is vital for future prosperity.

In this case the Americans failed all. They failed in the south and in the east.

I went there last year. And seriously I could hardly see any improvements since my last visit (3 years ago). The only visibal improvements were by the Japaneese, the south koreans and the germans.

  • 354ryan, America dosent own all of the bases in Afghanistan, and the Americans arent the only ones in Afghanistan, airbases are shared by many diffrent forces, so please dont try and be smart. Thire are lots of heroine fields, if they spent thire time bombing heroine fields like you idiots do, theyd be short on alot of ammunition and supplys, they are of hundreds of achres. And if they did that, theyd be getting on the wrong side of te fghans, They dont want to do that.

  • Amazing series of videos, really heart wrenching images and stories from the locals. God bless all of the troops over there fighting, may they be safe.

  • Immensely moving video. My heart is with them all out there.

It is also a pity that it is a true fact that when our guys have pulled out, the country will just fall into total chaos again, and it will all have been for nothing, unless the occupation lasts for 50 or 100 years or more, and becomes another colony, like India.

And in 50 years or 100 years, these lads will be forgotten.

But they won't be forgotten in mind, at least. All the best to them, and come home safely!

  • When im older im going to join these guys

  • Same here mate, well gonna have a good go

  • best pound for pound army in the world!!! respect!

  • Oh yeah, and the Dutch! Nice work with that airstrike - totally blew them away! Hat's off to you boys

  • My utmost respect to the Marines. Your a credit to our country. And really, really fucking brave! Jesus I could never do that. Very proffessional, honourable. Keep up the good work lads, for Britain and the west.

  • im joining the royal marines with my mate

    in march

good luck to the others in there

  • Excellent Documentary.

I've always considered the British to be like older brothers to Canadians like myself. You guys are miles away from home, doing your job and you should all be proud of your contributions.

You give them hell brothers, and hopefully, I'll be there giving them hell with you in about three years.

  • canada is a great counrty us brits are proud to fight by your side

  • well said, abbo02

  • we british love Canada. you are nothing like your southern naighbour, lol. Regards mate.

  • I'm joining the British Army just go get enough money to move to Canada, and I think I might get to go there for part of my training =)

  • I'd have to say that this series of documentary videos is the best I've seen here on YouTube. Britain certainly has an army of courage, and bravery.

  • And skill my friend.

  • Total respect to you Guy's

  • total respect from your countrymen

  • Best wishes to anyone out there. Never fear you are not apprieciated- you country loves you. come home safely boys.

  • Great set of vids.. thanks for uploading, we should be proud of our lads

  • bitish army are the best in the world.........

  • i apprieciate the invaluable work the US and UK soldiers contribute,as a Falklands veteran my heart and soul goes out to those fellas keep up the brilliant work

  • Its a great video... music is fanastic. Very sad though. British lads miles away from home fighting a war that they and others think isn't going to end. Opened my eyes a little! Thanks and chin up lads!

  • goog info

  • Good job commandos keep up the good work lads! watching british troops like this inspires me 2 want 2 help an do my lil bit.

  • Deja Vu. Everything looks the same as 20yrs ago and ppl behave in the same way.

  • Im joining 1RTR and im gonna say ROYAL MARINES....GOD BLESS YA!!!!!!!!!! THE BEST!!!!

  • Watching all 4 videos was the best thing for me

I have been thinking of joining the Marines but not to learn to fight for freedom and I am glad to say I'll see you guys out there I'm going to sign up today!

  • good job lads

  • Awesome series of 4 videos. A real testament to the professionalism of the British Army. The US Army should stop watching John Wayne films and take the time out to learn from these boys.

  • yer you no that acornflyer.

  • god bless you guys. i am a proud canadian, and our guys are there for the same cause as you brits. let freedom reign forever.

  • Wow I really have gained a lot of respect for our troops after watching this. They seem so defeatist and demoralised :(. You're doing a good job, keep it up. British Army is fantastic.

  • good report, bbc always does the best job when it comes to important world news, unlike our shitty american news that spends more time talking about paris hilton getting fingered than the two wars we are currently involved in.

  • @durden007 yeah..fuck them

  • @durden007 lol

  • @durden007 thta cuz americans would rather hear tht.

america is going down the drains

  • @durden007 LMFAO, awesome comment.

  • @durden007 I agree, and I'm American too.

  • good job lads,

    upmost RESPECT!

  • What an incredible documentary... really shows people the scope of what's going on there, and the fact there really is a cause worth fighting for, and one which the british forces and their Nato allies are fighting harad for. a fantastic effort on their part. I'm prous to call myself British after seeing this...

  • I respect these men so much, I just hate to think that all this is a lost cause, I am still considering wether to sign up to the Royal Marines, I was in the cadet force for 3 years, I justthink that you never know who the enemy is - thats the main problem.

  • the goverment bullshit a bit though they said to us that the dutch, france and cannada were going to help us but we havent even seen them......top mark vid shame it only shows the peacfull times

  • The Dutch, Frence and Canadian air force have played and are playing a major support role with the British Forces because of the RAF being so strung out. Also the Canadian Army have been doing alot. You even seen in that documentary that it was the Dutch doing most of the airstrikes.

  • oh im not to do with raf im in logistics we dont see pilots or enething

  • the RAF is not strung out mate, it's running on fumes. useless if you ask me. 7 harriers is all we have for cas in theater.

  • Shame to hear that- looks like the government has been holding out for the Eurofighter for far too long.

  • Nice to see the british troops view for a change.

  • massive respect boys.

  • excellent vids,like the info,

respect too all our armed forces , well done and keep it up.

  • Nice report like this kind a videos :)

  • great report. keep up all multinational flags against terrorism!

can _anybody_ tell me the conjunction between the forbid of killing in origin quoran and the ppl killing others for "religous reasons"?

  • sure, islam does not encourage the killing of innocent people, but if the enemy does not allow or forbid people from Practicing their religious freedoms then violence is authorized only on people who are either forbiding or causeing harm to them adn the people of the country that they are in.

  • great job mates. reporters however make me puke.

  • These are very brave men doing a very difficult job

  • u got 2 watch all 4 its awesome

  • They should have used gurkha army against taliban.

  • The UK and USA are great allies. I know from fact that both these great armies respect each other. Myself i am a very patriotic brit and i have serious respect for all the NATO forces fighting in countries like Iraq and Afghanistan.

  • Actualy, there is alot of tension. We're fed up with the US forces, its not often we get any respect from them except when we rub it in their faces. Being refered to as the flintstones and all the freindly fire incidents are really pissing the British forces off. Theres now a motto going around "US military: All the kit, shite soldiering"

  • There have been about 5 or 6 brits dead to friendly fire in the whole GWOT, pretty damn good if one looks at historical precedents. Respect for the British, and British forces in this country and among our armed forces is immense, I don't know how much more you could possibly ask for. Please go on any US military site to verify what I have said, or ask any US soldier how much he appreciates British help.

  • us soldiers appreciate ANY help.. if it werent for you guys, and countries like mine.. think about it..

    cheers

  • Do you know what thay used to say back in ww2....! It's was some like...

When the Germen's bombed - The british ducked!

When the British bombed - The germen's ducked!

When the American's bombed "Everyone ducked!

  • EVERYONE fucking ducked, cos the Americans probably couldn't aim the fucking bombs proper

  • I spent couple of days with the British troops in Helmand, city of Geresh as reporter. The British and NATO/ISAF troops generally are really doing a great job in Af. We can be really proud of them.

  • Any more video............I wish you all good luck!

  • Ultimately the parachute regiment and royal marines are far and away the best non s.f units in the military today (worldwide). The best examples of this are 22SAS(80%para reg) and SBS 80% bootneck need i say more . First 2 units to head up the op herrick deployment , para reg then royal marines.I have also worked with u.s marines and have found them to be un-fit ,overconfident, undertrained and TRIGGERHAPPY, just look at there R,O,E.

  • Royal marine commando's well there commandos. They have longer training ect that the USMC's..

  • The paras may be an elite unit, but that doesn't make them special forces. The Royal Marines may be more deserving of the special forces title because of their wide variety of tasks and abilities. But no Royal Marine in his right mind would go head to head with any other regular infantry regiment for the simple fact that royal marines are a light role amphibious raider type unit, and infantry regiments are more heavily armed and have a much bigger logistical tale.

  • The bootnecks ain't special forces pal, they are another elite reg, thats why they are put en par with the red devils. Also, the bootnecks are far from light role, they are just as kitted out as most other regs if not more than.

  • No they wouldnt let much info out about the sas cause they would know who ever is watching/listening and wanting to do us harm will have that information. & its the same with the MI5, your not ment to tell anyone that your in the MI5 or in the SAS for scrective reasons but there will be people who you can trust, like your parnets. Thats the only people i would tell anyway cause i know they wouldnt say a word but your not ment to anyway...

  • yeah nice one mate

  • but either way when they work together (falklands, for example) they are unstoppable!

  • i think the best way to summarise the parachute regiment and royal marine commandos is that they are both 'elite infantry'. they are all infantry soldiers, paras being the airborne infantry of the army, whilst the royals are naval infantry. they are both specialised in different areas, so its kinda hard to work out which unit is better. but for me its the paras!

  • Para reg is the only unit allowed to give direct support to Uksf, Marines are good but they have been found out in recent times and are only now getting as good as a regular army infantry unit, I have seen this first hand !

  • chris2para, you might be right about that. The Royal Marine may not be as good an infantryman as a Para or even a regular grunt, but he isn't meant to be. He does, however, have a whole range of capabilities that the Paras and infantry in general simply don't have. One misconception people have is that all elite units have to be better than your average grunt in infantry skills when this is rarely true.

  • Yes. But the british marines are the best in the world. The american marines are overrated.

  • The Paras are harder than your average grunt, but I would not consider them special forces. But given the mission and the versatility of the Royal Marines, I consider them very similar to a special forces unit.

  • the paras are a unit, I met a Para of the 2nd battalion, and hes just came home from afigahnstan, They are the most elite unit excluding Special forces (SAS, SBS)

  • The British army is the best in the world!

  • i respect all people that fight its country

  • we should take out all forces out of Iraq an deploy them in Afghanistan and fucking wipe out taliban.. man

  • lions led by donkeys

  • oh snap

  • i salute you! im joining the british army

  • Bring back Lawence of Arabia

  • good old RMC. good to hear your doin an ace job:D keep up the ace work.

  • Royal Marines take care of business!

  • in diesem video sieht man gute und schlechte seiten!

  • bomb you guys are doin a great job keep it the fuck up ill be out ther to join you in a year or two!

  • thermal imaging rocks :)

at around 6min 50sec in this video

  • Agreed on what one of the lads said earlier. It's a lot tougher than Iraq. Got about 2 good night sleeps out there. They didn't show everything, though. Probably a good thing.

  • its not about puting farmers back in business its about forming an army that can defend british and us interests in the country once the troops have left.

  • just got back from the royal marine recruitment office in manchester and u no wot...........the shit i hav to go through b4 joining is immense. i thought i was a fit healthy lad but what the navy expect of me to join is on a diffirent level. anyways im still dieing to do it so wish me luck boy'z

  • i start my 32 weeks basic training at lympstone on the 9th of july,i done my prmc and its tuff but trust me its worth it,email me when u start ur prmc and ill see u der,

  • I have worked with the lads in Iraq before and have nothing but the utmost respect for them. Well led, well disciplined troops, as an aussie i would rather be fighting with the dirty old poms then the yanks anyday.

Fuck Iraq its a worthless dust bowl, sort out Afganastan and find Bin Laden already.

  • Afghanistan is a nightmare - to get even the slightest idea of what it is to keep the peace there, you need to look at history. The periods that the British managed to keep peace in the region were down to maverick young officers of the East India regiments, who formed mobile light horse units, zipping around the place and keeping a high profile. They used diplomacy to unite local tribes (which had centuries of hostility between one another) in keeping out the threats of invading tribes.

  • Our lads are doing a grand job out there, keep it up boys.

  • great video, great proffesionalism, makes people at home realise how hard it really is.

  • weapons and tactics designed to fight wrong kind of enemy... Vietam revisited.

  • This vid show the profesionalism of the British forces, quite diferent from their US counterpart.

  • well it's a nice vid, respect for those guys... didn't even know the dutch where there for airsupport... ^^ one of the smallest country's of europe with almost the best army :D

  • Wow! What an excellent tribute to our boys. Tremendous respect to the men and women of the Royal Marines!

  • Joining The RM soon, cant Bloody wait :)

  • I just joined the US Marines, and I will see you guys out on the field. This video made me want to go NOW.

  • Get in there Royals.

You are a easily the best non-SF troops in the UK forces

  • having served in iraq and afgan(RM) its nice to see people giving respect to troops that die each day,i have worked with the usa troops in both places and have a lot of respect for them, so you kids that slag real men off that die each day should wait till their balls drop, eman87 you thick little cock go play cowboys and indians.

  • Well said mike and God bless you for your contribution. I'd like to see some airmchair critics spend a little time over there and find out what the real world is like.

    Take care

  • The NATO forces r there to reconstruct thier land but I haven't seen any video about reconstruction in Afghanistan. There were their to potect them but their own fire is killing them, from air and ground also. and u r saying local afgan people r with us. but actually a gorilla war can be faught without local support and taliban r gorilla fighters. Its then really surprising how they managed to fight in last 5 or 6 years againg most modern techlogy. What u want to show in such kind of videos ?

  • Thankyou Daz, I just sat and watched all 4 parts and as a Civie I have the ut-most respect for all of our frontline troops. And after seeing this, It has just doubled. Thanks also must goto the BBc for actually showing us how it really is out there.

  • I served in afghanistan with the US army a few years ago. I just sat and watched all four parts and I'm finally satisfied that a documentary came to the understanding that I had of the taliban situation from having been there for 9 months. Absolutely brilliant. I hope everyone involved with this film has a prosperous future telling the truth like this. The BBC makes my countries media look like the joke it is.

  • Too fucking right mate. well said!

  • Here im curently serving in the Royal Irish Regiment. I was serving in afgan. Bit word has went around and iv seen some shocking footage.. of the 9/11 from what i have seen. and hear it was al a set up. for control power and oil.. but aslo.the talibans kill and torture inocent people..some of us are begining to think we are doing the same

  • Brilliant documentary. I have literally sat at my PC for nearly an hour watching your posts. Are you in the military yourself ? i was in the army as RMP and thankfully did not go to Afghanistan.

  • Hey Daz thanks so much for the posts....5 stars across the board.

  • sounds like they have there work set out

if they can find they little buggers

  • all commands do the same american or british,,zhinch we're not talking about regular forces , that's they call specials forces , i like the footage, may you never seen american commandos

  • Very interesting and informative videos, thank you.

  • here you see the difference between british and american troops. you all know what i mean.
