  • i have a dumb Question... what kind of video card works in that????

  • Thanks for posting this video. I've got a power supply issue myself (at least I think that's what it is), and I intend to dissasemble the entire computer and give everything a thurough cleaning. My computer currently is shutting down abruptly every so often. I couldn't easily figure out which screws in the center of the processor needed to be removed.

  • @pocoapoco2 ,

Loosen all the screws on the processor. For this model, the screws were appyling pressure keeping the processor in place. In other models, the screws need to be removed. Good Luck!

  • Yeah that sucks that Snow Leopard doesn't at least support G5.

  • help i need to format my new HDD in my g5 but i dont have the OS, this is the main HDD

  • @towdow3

You need to acquire a OS X Leopard Disk. The new OSX Snow Leopard will not work for the G5.

  • @5DMus the next things is....i have a disk, but it wont boot from it at all, its an install disk...

  • @towdow3

Call Apple and ask them to refer you to another store that deals with older Macs.

You'll need Leopard or below (Not Snow Leopard).

Sadly you'll need a Intel Mac to run Snow Leopard, there are no possible hacks to put Snow on G5.

Ubuntu PPC or another Linux PPC is your other options. Slower Macs should use Xubuntu PPC.

Ubuntu PPC is best suited for PowerMac. Free and Legal to use.
