  • Thanks! We sing this in our Anglican church, Kenya. Means a lot to me personally

  • My Grandfather and myself both grew up going to the boy's brigade. This was their hymn and it reminds me of the connection that I have with him so much. It was even played at his funeral and I could almost feel hi standing next to me. A song which still stirs memories n me even at the first note...

  • 1st Petaling Jaya, Malaysia.

  • This hymn has special place for me , as i was going through rough time some point in my past and this hymn held me to be strong and know if i anchored my faith in Jesus i would get through and i did with flying hope at the end which has not dimmed .

  • SWEET!!!

  • 26th Belfast great hymn

  • sometimes it stuck in my head !

  • This is fantastic. I came looking for this as it is not one I am familiar with as I don't think we have ever sung it at my Methodist church, and we are due to sing it at my Grandad's funeral on Friday. He was a keen and dedicated BB leader earlier in life.

Looking thru YT at the various versions of this hymn, I am struck by the solidarity and faith in the comments from members of various BB company's around the country. So different to comments you usually find on YT.

    God Bless.

  • LOVELY - Many thanks!

  • The best version of this fabulous hymn on youtube.

There are plenty of modern choruses and sing-song stuff for the light hearted. These wonderful Victorian hymns need to be sung with gusto, with a good strong thump!

  • It comes from Hebrews 6v19,20 We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain, where Jesus, who went before us, has entered on our behalf. Fantastic verse, fantastic hymn.

  • hurray, i finally found a good version of our anthem, I have me presidents badge and working on my queens as we speak right now :) gd time gd time

  • Boys Brigade 2nd Comber!!

  • definitely a meaningful hymn. this has been a favourite for the ex members of the Boys' Brigade in Singapore, the Stedfast Association. We meet once a month for fellowship and learning and this hymn must always be sung. it reminds us of our Anchor, Jesus Christ, of our lives. This is Jimmy Png - ex Boy and offcier 25th Singapore Coy and Hon Capt 33rd Coy. Now Cluster Representative of West2 district. Once a BB always a BB

  • Interesting how you refer to your anchor as Christ, as an ex-Boy's Brigade (Presidents' Badge) boy myself i've always thought "anchor" was a metaphor for your faith.

  • @proverbspng

I found Jesus as my Saviour at Boys Brigade camp on 16th August 2004 when i was a 16 year old boy. Its because of dedicated people such as yourself that didnt give up on the trouble some kids like me and instead prayed for them until they met Jesus as there saviour. May our Lord Bless You and keep you my brother.
