I went to this location (by accident) when I was in Tokyo recently (yes, I kept my eye out for you TokyoCooney, but alas I didn't run into you) and during the day there was no line, but later at night (just as the sun was setting) I noticed that there were indeed people lined up out the door--I just didn't know what to say.
Hell yeah. I mean they were eating the doughnuts with beans and cury in them and I bet that probably wasn't working out so well so Krispy Kreme fixed all that. I agree Krispy Kreme really isn't that good either, useually the best doughnut shops are the ones that aren't affiliated with anyone. Ironicly my local shop is just called "Donuts" with a yellow light up sign and is run by a Japanese family and it's better than both Krispy and Duncan.
I am shocked and curious on why they'd wait so long for doughnuts, I mean they are good but still... a new game system makes more sense but it's whatever they want to do, I wish I could be that patient for food. XD
@FelineFantsy there isn' t that many donut shop here. but i guess the reason they wait in line for anything new ( or anything that came out on the news) is because they r looking for some happiness in life. they look for cheap thrills.
I guess it's quite sad for all those people waiting for that "stuff" .. I was at Kochigaya last year when KK opened up another store there and the line was stupidly long... They remain weird people...
After watching video 3 (or was it 2?), I imagine the Japanese would be quite surprised to find that these donuts don't have beans or curry in the centers.
Oh my god... that is fscking sad. Though I have to concede to the fact that their doughnuts are pretty good. But then, how would the Japanese know that? Hmm
There was still a sizable line when I went there a couple months back. I didn't bother, too busy exploring. Baskin Robbins is pretty popular there too.
Kevin, did you know there is a New York Donut Plant outlet in Shiodome? Much better than both Mister Donut and KK in my opinion, and way better coffee. It's next door to the Ampan Man store.
Man, I swear I was sitting in the Takeshimya Times Square department store on the restaurant floor which is across the street from that actual KK donut shop, It was absolutely hammering with rain and people were standing in line for at least half an hour to buy donuts. Now don't get me wrong donuts are nice but would I que for half an hour in the rain to get them? would I ***k!!
Hahahaha oh man I remember that! That must have been 2007, because I remember going to Shinjuku the day after that opened, and being utterly floored by the line there. I seriously saw at least 10 poeple in my train car goign home with krispy creme bags. The usually bought at least 2 dozen.
Hahaha Ivebeen there. The Krispie Kreme near the Tokyu Hands. And sure enough, ppl were waiting in line. I found it while getting lost in Shinjuku looking for shinjuku koen
haha its funny because i live in puerto rico (the caribbean) and they opened up a krispy kreme here like 4 months ago and the line was as big as that one and after 4 months it's still like that and its hard to get a krispy kreme! i haven't eaten one over here... so i went to vegas and ate 2 dozen to satisfy my needs and not wait in a line for more than 2 hours...^^
It is official... Krispy Kream has the best donuts in the world! <3
But tell me something... Was this line during the "cold" hours or was it when the "Hot" sign was lit? Because we all know that long lines form more quickly for fresh-out-of-the-oven donuts!!
oh, i heard about this! They also had Cinabon and the cheese cake factory there and it started off as a huge thing but the cheese cake factory i heard wasn't very successful so it closed down.. how about krispy kreme and cinabon?
Dough nuts, but not just any dough nut... the all mighty Krispy Kreme... Behold the god of the dough nut world... it is still crazy as hell that everyone and their mom would wait in line for Krispy Kreme... but then I remember the halo 3 release... and the day after thanks giving sales...
Thats it im sold, i love japan now, it has everything great, and cant wait to move lol looks like you finally dont have to worry about curry filled in KK!!!
Krispy Kreme doesn't have any branches in my state, I had some once, but only because a friend of mine brought some across state lines, and yet they have them over in Japan! Still Krispy Kreme donuts are pretty awesome.
Who in the world would even compare a Krispy Kreme to a Dunkin Donut? I am diehard KK shmuck if you want to call me that. I live where KK started and that is the only donut I will eat. Lemon filled and raspberries are numero uno and the glazed!
OMG! Donuts!? There was in no way on God's good green earth that would have enabled me to foresee such a thing. An everyday thing that I take for granted over here is something they wait in line over there. Wow...
When they opened a new store in Dallas, TX, when I lived there, people just blindly followed others to this joint drawn like moths to a porch light. Oh my God, you wouldn't believe how many cars were lined up in circles around the place for weeks on end! And this was to just get a dozen glazed doughnuts and coffee. Only ONE word could accurately describe them..... SCHMUCKS!!
On my comment below I meant Emo and Screamo suck ass but bands like the Eagles, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, Smashing Pumpkins, Incubus, and Red Hot Chili Peppers are really good bands. fyi Limp Bizkit and Avenged Sevenfold suck.
When KK came to Canada, i waited in line too just because everyone was. People camped out and kids skipped school. Now the KK is going bankrupt and its been only around 2 years since it opened.
America has influence Japan since the 50s, music movies, etc, actors do commercials there, getting piad 2 million for a days work. why? They know the majority of the market and how Japanese go for anything cool and trendy from American. With the information age, Japan is just barely catching up on influecing us.
yeah, the megamac is selling so well that McD had to put a daily cap on the number of mega macs they sell so they dont run out. I also just read today that Burger King is coming to japan this year... BOOO YAHHHHH!!!
the same thing happend when they opened up one near my house...there were cops and everything for the first 3 weeks...then the adkins diet came and now there struggling for business...
Hey, I just found these videos of yours. I even subscribed, and I've never subscribed to anything on youtube! But, I enjoy your Life In Tokyo segments, so I took the plunge.
I don't find it so outrageous tbh. We just got Krispy Kreme here in Melbourne and at first the waits were around 3 hours+. I waited in the drive through line for just over an hour for some, but hey it was just a fad type thing, now the queue is like 10 minutes max but no one goes because it's not popular anymore.
xD; Aw snap. I love my Krispy Kremes but holy crap! Interesting to see the comparison to us. Is it like that for American items/products only? Or anything new?
xD Damn didn't view this until around 500 views AGAIN. I'm slow lately.
Just to clarify, Japanese people don't mind waiting in line. Patience is part of their culture, even inherent in their religion(s). I have known Japanese people to line up outside of the best restaurants for hours on end, just because they have heard it was great food. I just wanted to illustrate that it is not necessarily that they love Krispy Kreme so much they would wait it out, they probably just wanted to try something brand new coming from America - and don't mind waiting in line to do so.
People always talk about how much Japan has influenced the U.S.A and make fun of kids in highschool who take Japanese and wear Japanese clothes and drink Japanese drinks calling them "posers" when they don't realize how much we have influenced the Japanese. I can't even count how many young Japanese kids I say wearing Pink Floyd shirts, even though they have never even listened to the band...
Yes they are english but I meant that pink floyd was an icon among American culture. I wasn't saying that Pink Floyd was something that came from America, I just meant that it is something that is was and is still big in America; maybe even more so than it is currently in the UK...course' I don't know I don't live there.
Shiadon Pink Flyod are from England ok you know the U.K. so um I think the english have influenced them with rock and roll. But Americans have influnced them in other dumber things like Emo and Screamo not something to be proud of but hey at least we produced the Eagles, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, Smashing Pumpkins, Incubus, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and a few other rock bands that the Japanese would die for.
Yeah, I know they're from England. When I said the U.S.A influnced them I really meant western civilization. Oh and your right about all those bands. The "Pink Floyd shirt" was a bad example.
Krispy Kreme was kind of a big deal when they first started popping up around here in LA too - just not to THAT extreme. I'll have to admit, tho - it doesn't get much better than a yummy morsel of tasty pastry. I oughta tape and upload my local bakery as well.
It was the same way here for Krispy Kreme... except americans were sitting in there cars waiting =P I like donut holes and KK never made them until recently, and they aren't good like the rest of their donuts for some reason. As far as line cutters... they don't have them, only we are jerky enough to do something so weak as cut in line. Plus they have those cool uniformed line guards!! I saw one of those guys directing traffic in a parking lot of a Home & Garden store over there!!!
Those guys are awsome. I actually asked one of them once at a baseball game what he would do if there was a problem and he pointed to his radio and said "Report it... immediately!"
well, i understand why it must be a guard to prevent any attemp on such thing as a baseball game or any event that call for a crowd like that, but for donuts?
Wow, those are some hardcore donut fans. How do teh Japanese sit with line cutters. Would they stand for it, or would they just pretend it never happend?
Honestly I almost never see a Japanese person attempt a line cut. But they actually had guards to prevent such a thing. But, while many Japanese will say nothing, there is always one who will.
it was as insane here in Montreal when Krispy Kreme first opened, but now they're pretty much dead...Tim Hortons rules in Canada...thanks for your videos!!
Actually I was surprised... I looked at one of the other videos about Tokyo Krispy Kreme. Evidentally the shop has been open since December 15th... I can't imagine what it was like when it really had just opened.
I personally don't think Krispy Kreme is that good enough to wait for... the Wii I can kind of understand... but I mean... you eat a dough nut in like 5 minutes max...
Hey Cooney, how come you didn't grab a doughnut for the sake of your viewers lol ?I'd like to know what kind of krispy kreme doughnuts they have there.
Krispy Kreme tastes terrible, I feel bad for all of those people waiting in line to be disappointed. :<

Yeah, I know they're from England. When I said the U.S.A influnced them I really meant western civilization. Oh and your right about all those bands. The "Pink Floyd shirt" was a bad example.

Okay, okay, so I own two Japanese cars and several Japanese TVs... but they did lose the war, dude! Let them eat cake.

Krispy Kreme was kind of a big deal when they first started popping up around here in LA too - just not to THAT extreme. I'll have to admit, tho - it doesn't get much better than a yummy morsel of tasty pastry. I oughta tape and upload my local bakery as well.

Actually food will have to be several vlogs. There is just too much to cover.

MrDefaulto 5 years ago
Those guys are awsome. I actually asked one of them once at a baseball game what he would do if there was a problem and he pointed to his radio and said "Report it... immediately!"
tokyocooney 5 years ago
well, i understand why it must be a guard to prevent any attemp on such thing as a baseball game or any event that call for a crowd like that, but for donuts?
japanese people loves their sweets i guess
Kamirykun 5 years ago
Ur kidding me...I hate krispy creme donuts, there way to sweet for me...

Wow, those are some hardcore donut fans. How do teh Japanese sit with line cutters. Would they stand for it, or would they just pretend it never happend?
W3dotCOM 5 years ago
Honestly I almost never see a Japanese person attempt a line cut. But they actually had guards to prevent such a thing. But, while many Japanese will say nothing, there is always one who will.

Actually I was surprised... I looked at one of the other videos about Tokyo Krispy Kreme. Evidentally the shop has been open since December 15th... I can't imagine what it was like when it really had just opened.
tokyocooney 5 years ago

Wow. That line is crazy. Coincidentally I just returned from Krispy Kreme. But I think I drove through the wrong one cause my donuts are stale !@#$
Kiradance 5 years ago
I personally don't think Krispy Kreme is that good enough to wait for... the Wii I can kind of understand... but I mean... you eat a dough nut in like 5 minutes max...

poopoo42 5 years ago
I only wish... I actually might have waited on line if their had been sea urchin flavored creme in them or something, but no... just regular donuts.
tokyocooney 5 years ago

Kamirykun 5 years ago
Hey Cooney, how come you didn't grab a doughnut for the sake of your viewers lol ?I'd like to know what kind of krispy kreme doughnuts they have there.
