  • Meanwhile in Africa....

  • @dievturiba they can at least put the milk on ice or in a fridge so that it doesn't get cold. That way they won't throw away half a gallon of milk every hour. Ha!

  • Journo arsebag "your taps on" no shit Sherlock.

  • I work at starbucks and have for 2 years part time that tap isnt there anymore just a hole where it used to be...sooo 'they' listens and did something about the problem

    Look up shared planet

That'll show u what this evil company does

For intense it's provided me with £2000 pound to take to Tanzania this summer to buy an emergency veichile fir the school I'm gonna be working at ....

Btw this is a video made by the sun lol

Go read the daily mirror some more

    Bunch of Eco-fashists

  • "And the claim that running taps are needed for hygiene reasons was dismissed by experts as nonsense."

Not according to health departments worldwide. Who are the alleged "Experts" you hold?

  • it's interesting that if an individual choses to not turn off their tap, you're are a bad person destroying the environment, but when a large evil corporation is doing the same thing, people defend it because it is "healthier" or "food safety". Just hire some dishwashers cheap Starbucks.

  • Not only do they waste water constantly but they also just pour loads of milk down the drain. whenever the cream or milk gets over a certain temperature, usually every hour, they just pour it right down the drain and fill it up again. then repeat the process all day. its crazy, they could be saving lots of money or they could help feed people in need.

  • @DarthTrilluminati

their coffee is full of fluoride from fluoridated water. Fluoride kills brain cells and nerves

  • @gledalac1979

depends on how much is in the water. I'm guessing the local town / city may be adding fluoride to water to help prevent tooth decay....

  • @DarthTrilluminati. There are laws regarding food safety so there is nothing Starbucks can do but follow the law!

  • How are they wasting water it goes to frocans through our drains eventually ;)

  • That is really stupid of em!!!! We are all trying to save water, and they are wasting it like it's nothing!!!! wtf??!!! That id really annoying!! sorry to everyone who likes starbucks but come'on a bit of common sense!!!!!

  • That is really stupid of em!!!! We are all trying to save water, and they are wasting it like it's nothing!!!! wtf??!!! That id really annoying!! sorry to everyone who likes starbucks but come'on a bit of common sense!!!!!

  • Well done Starbucks, you shitheads

  • I'm definitely for a green environment and understand the downsides of wasting water. Watching this and reading about "all" water being wasted does make me feel dumb nonetheless. What a lame soundtrack as well. The water is left running for a purpose- not all the water is wasted. Sure it could be more efficient- then lets try to get Starbucks to aim for higher efficiency rather than calling them out as plain dumb-asses. Your best bet is still to buy locally.

  • finally our video is now availabe ;) check it out :D

  • really stupid - someone should stop this fast! is it still going like that?

we (me and my sister) saw a huge waste of energy at starbucks when it comes to insulating. this happens at a starbucks in bremen, germany.

i'am going to upload a video this evening whicht we made there

  • Imagine how much water could be saved if people never bathed or washed their hands!

  • well they have change that!!!!!!!!!!I use to hate Starbucks for water waste, but now they don@t do that.they keeping spoon in each jug, so you rinsing the jug with a spoon after use.BUT what I hate now is waste of food.O n the end of the day, what is expired goes to the bin.And staff can't take it, so it goes to the bin.Stupid.

  • @pixiechristmas Out of date means it's out of date! Food Safety law means it has to be disposed of. Not "stupid" but "legal" and "diligent".

  • yes, it is wasteful, but really.. dont you people have better things to do?

dont i have better things to do too? ... ugh

  • @dasrael please refrain from writing such ignorant comments.thanks

  • @treestar23 please refrain from being such an insufferable douchebag. thanks.

  • love it how the sun say they 'discovered it'. but im sorry its not exactly discovered, everyone who purchases in starbucks can realise that it was, the sun are morons

  • A simple solution would be a footswitch. But Im sure some accountant made the choice to bypass that as one might cost $50 per store and it wouldn't look good on the books.

    Buy your coffee locally people.

  • They use CLEAN water to keep those utensils clean! It's cheaper and EASIER to use this method than to leave a sink full of soapy water and clean water next to one-another. Eventually, BOTH will become contaminated.

  • dumb j*ws

  • I never notice it in our place.. I check it out...

  • stupid turn it off its bad

  • in germany starbucks stops this practice.

the "barista-spoons" will now be cleaned manual by the employes.

    @ bobwall314 :

there are more then 6500 branches worldwide.

    count up that!

  • 106M gallons/year is for all restaurants including Starbucks that use dipper wells in S. Nevada, so that's a fair comparison. Of course, you might not be able to afford it in other regions.

  • stupid wasteful people

  • Although I think it's pretty wasteful, it doesn't waste that much water: a University Las Vegas professor conservatively estimated they use 106M gallons/year in S. Nevada, while all of Nevada uses 629M gallons/day - a negligible amount.

One thing I want to know is do those things save labor - i.e. eliminate need for manual washing?

  • starbucks sucks

  • This is brillian news then. Keep pouring it down the drain lol.

  • The music is too loud, i can't hear the interrogation.

  • Stupid ass children,do you really think we have an endless supply of water on this planet. In your life time you will see water become what oil is today. Third world nations have been struggling with water issues for years. Do your research or just shut the fuck up. Oh, I forgot ignorance is bliss.

  • Comment removed

  • But water is completely renewable unlike oil - just as space can be reused in a computation. Now, if we could reuse time...

  • Renewable--more so than oil--but not READILY renewable. They should try to eliminate the excessive WASTE.

  • Oh brother, who cares? That type of sink has been used for decades by all types of restaurants....Bet the creep who made the video flushes the toilet every time he pees! Gasp!

  • Many restaurants and hotels uses that kind of sinks and yeah, the waste of water is way much more with every flush of a toilet than those kind of sinks.

  • They're fucking paying for the water, they can do whatever the fuck they want with it.

    Environmentalist dumbasses.

  • when the last time you chugged a cold glass of Dollar Bills 'Commie'? ?

  • Stupid Starbucks for wasting so much fresh water for nothing! They keep the water tap running all day long and that is very wasteful and bad for the environment! Argh!

  • umm yeah i work at a starbucks and we don't have a dish machine. so yeah, the water is either running because it's heating water up to fill the sink, or because the sinks are being filled...... idk how to prevent that if you want sterile utensils etc :(

  • its the best.. u can see if the gas station's coffee is as flavourful as the one in starbucks.. they serve fresh and good coffee.. if u go to any starbucks store and ask.. they'll tell u everything.. from coffee cherry to roasted beans..

  • STAR BUCKS = YOU PAY TWICE FOR A COFFEE.

  • You guys are ridiculous. Honestly have you seen how grose the stagant water is that they keep spoons in at Gloria Jeans?! Old milk sitting ontop of brown water. You want your milk spooned out with that? No thank you that's disgusting. Get a life and right real news

  • they're not suppose to turn the tap on so much.. it should be at minimum.. its a dipper well and to keep the utensils clean.. u wan to have milk from morning to serve u at night??

  • It's for health safety, you wouldn't want expired dairy in your beverage do you?

  • Since when a red top paper like "the sun" giveer my a shit about anything other than selling news papers.........thats a joke

Also Starbucks will pay huge water rates for this so whats the problem, waisting water, this is more crap from the fascist liberals that want to take over our lives and tell us what to eat, think and when to shit.........go to hell

  • join my facebook group: STARBUCKS -STOP WASTING OUR WATER!

  • I have join. I am happy to see others being more aware of this problem. I also have e-mailed corporate starbucks to inform them and they e-mailed me back saying they are trying to fix the problem since 2007. (wished they sould speed it up a little bit because each day is 23.4 millions of gallons of water already)

  • you bunch of wankers who sit in starbcks and drink coffeeee fock you all you all need to drink greeeeen tea!if they sell green tea in starbucks your probaly getting raped for the price

ooow look at me im drinking coffee in starbucks im sooooo pretentious! hahah fuck u nobbbbbs

  • fuck starbucks... their coffee is not even good...

  • they give us the best.. so wat's wrong with u.. brainless??

  • i really don't like their coffee... it's overpriced and you can find better coffee somewhere else for half the price...

  • actually....a grande cup of regular coffee is $2.00. If that's expensive you must be really cheap.

  • it is expensive for a mediocre coffee.. i agree with odisus69

  • starbucks the best coffee? ROFL at that. you can get better coffee from a gas station or a regular donut shop, people just go to starbucks cus they want others to say "oh he drinks starbucks, cool" wich is total bull.

  • in Australian starbucks it was a health standard to keep those taps on.. i hate u people

  • one more thing, i work for a concrete cutting company in washington state. In silverdale theres a starbucks and we were sent out to cut the floor up one night after hours so plumbers could intstall a new pvc pipe leading from the drain of the main tap source to a huge filter behind a closet in the back from wich water was filterd (obviously) and then i'm guessing that that particular establishment re-used some water for some purpose. who knows right?

  • i know nothing of how starbucks runs their empire. what i do know is this, employees of the company are probably the ones who care and i'm sure there are some who don't. it all comes down to coroporate in the end i suppose who determines if the water gets turned off or not. until then, lets allow people to voice their opinion. end.

  • How fucking obnoxious. That fucking hippie with the camera should have his face shoved into that water dipper well and then have his nostrils rammed into the milk steamer rod. And also, this video is bullshit.

  • All that wasted water so stupid yuppies can have their trendy little coffee drinks and biscotti cookies. Ooh look at me, I'm a bleeding trend follower...

  • hey, fuck you, buddy. i work for starbucks, and it's not like the employees don't give a shit about it. my manager is trying to work out a deal with our district manager to conserve water, and our entire staff, as well as the surrounding stores in our area, are all backing him up. it's not gonna do much in the long run for our company, but it's a good start.

  • This video is bullshit. Many places have this exact setup for health reasons. Nothing new. We will be living in caves once the enviros are done with us.

  • Oh my! I mean I could'nt even finish watching it! This is on the same order of seeing baby Harp Seals being slaughtered by men with clubs! I Cried. Global Draining is such a crime! Boo Hoo......

    Poppycock

Reality: Starbuck's pays for it....LET THEM RUN IT! BIG DEAL

  • i work in starbucks and this is utter crap. the tap has to be left on cos health and saftey says there has to be a constant stream of water running, or it goes luke warm and bacteria breeds. you want your latte made with a spooon thats been sitting in luke warm milky water all day? starbucks pay for their water bill like everyone else and they can do what they want with it. if starbucks turned there taps off would there be any more water in under developed countries? no.

  • You are wrong, the bill is paid by the buyers.

If they would save water and money they could sell their stuff cheaper (or make more profit) and we would pay less.

I love Starbucks but I will not spend more money there until they stop wasting water.

  • the majority of your money goes towards farmers because starbucks are one of the only coffee houses that have regulations in giving farmers a bloody good deal. and my point was is that everyone is saying how its waste when a lot of poorer countries have no water, but if we turned the taps off they wouldnt get any more water than they do now.

  • I can't understand how the environmentalist groups attacked Starbucks the way they did! It seems to me that the managers of the firm genuinely believed that letting the tap run would prevent health problems, it was an extremely poor judgment on the part of the managers, but that was what they thought. The environ. groups made it seem as if Starbucks deliberately left the water running to sabotage

  • the environment. If the firm knew that this method was ridiculous would they still continue the practice and spend millions of dollars on water that was going to waste? And keep in mind that the entire existence of starbucks is to make and maximize profits.

  • right, like they would waste millions in a scheme to get money...i hate hippies >.>

  • Reactionary nonsense. Complete and utter toss.

  • And I'm worried about turning the tap off during brushing my teeth! These guys have to go down.

  • This is really wrong - boycott Starbucks all over the world !!
