@DanmakuPFK well the snake is known as Mishaguchi.Basically Suwako was a god over a small Japanese region before she went to Gensokyo.The snake basically helped give her power and keep control.Even though shes a frog,Mishaguchi has been with her for a long time,long before Kanako even met Suwako and defeated her

Kanako went to Suwako's shrine. The two fought and Suwako lost.
That's what I got out of that.
