  • Thx for sharing! You play the RRLL part with the open roll teqnique or controlled with two "controlled" single strokes?

  • @shavethebravedave

    you're welcome!

    open roll

  • NICE!

  • im not able to do the doublestrokes on my toms ...how can i achive an imnprovement?

any tips or tricks would be kind of you ?

  • @dsckakashi

practice double strokes on a pillow for a week and then try it on the toms...

  • @GrooveDrummin wow thanks man ...good idea will start working on it ...THANKS very much love your lessons especially the upstroke kick lick !!!

  • best explainations on Bonzo ever! Great job.

  • OKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK !!! :)

  • Love you kit! Great tutorial! Thanks for posting

  • good work

  • Hi, great rudiments, i like playing single paradiddle around the kit with the last two strokes using the bass drum... if that makes sence... great drumming loving your stuff : )

  • RL RR LR LL isn't this the paradiddle diddle? or can you do it that way too?

  • @Equeporquenao

That's a single paradiddle which is a longer stroke, the paradiddle-diddle is RLRRLL and shorter.

  • @GrooveDrummin no way i think bonzo played these type licks in moby dick no?

  • @tambodrums8

Yeah, I use that one too but I like to do it this way: LRLLRR accent the first LR

  • Thanks for this lesson ! Your Paradiddle-diddles helped a lot,

you are a great song !

  • Just started playing drums a few weeks ago and your videos are helping a lot, just can't seem to get the stuff up to speed oh well, just gotta practice more I guess. Although I do feel as though I'm the only rock, and metal drummer my age interested in not playing double bass, and blast beats, I much prefer keeping a good groove.

  • Great sound and control around the drums with this stroke. You the man!!! If you would have had a Led zeppelin type band to fall into in your day, you would've been just as popular as Bonham..no doubt about it...

  • @cehorne1

    That's very cool to hear :) wow....THANKS

  • great stuff, your lessons are very helpful!!

  • did you have to drill a hole in your lud tom in order to install the pearl mount? and is that the omni mount that attatches the bottom rim as well as the top?

  • Thanks for a great lesson Dan. This was easy, and made a great addition to my vocabulary.

  • Awesome Awesome Awesome

  • Im at a loss for words,Dan you are 1 of best drum teachers on youtube!!! UH I dont know what to say. I guess just keep them coming your helping alot of drummers young & old! Keep on rockin Dan!!!

  • I use this parradiddle in my solo's Dan.Just giving back a little LOL Try it out all over the kit. RRLRLL.Sounds awesome on my toms with the high hat going and hit the snare on any count you like.It rules to man. :-).

  • @dagozepp

Yes for sure, this one I use all the time too!

Dig this, I learned it a little different but when you get going it's the same as you mentioned. It matches this lesson here but instead it's LR.

LRLLRR whereas this vid shows RLRRLL.

When I practice stuff I like alternating between the inversions ex) RLR / LRL. Thanks for the input!

  • @GrooveDrummin Thank You. I just tried it your right.Very cool patterns There are so many new drummers out there that only play double bass these days. They need to learn their rudiments when their young because when you get older it takes a little longer to get them down. Can't thank you enough.( :-)>

  • @dagozepp

    coolness, ur welcome

  • Great lesson Dan !!!! Can't thank you enough Brother.I am starting to kick ass lately playing and your lessons are a huge part of my progress.I have the same style of playing but never had the time to learn all of Bonham type Blues Rock fills and fundamentals.Rock on Dan!!!!!!!!!!

  • Hey Kool D I enjoyed this video and for awhile I thought I was listening to Don Brewer a style many have forgotten and many don't know of....As always your the man and thanks for another great video!!!!!!!

  • @thunderdrumass

Don Brewer ROCKS! One of my favs for sure.

  • Also, because of my new-found appreciation for my drums, my 3 year old kid has recently started "swinging the lumber". Thanks so much.

  • @joshnelsonnj

    You're welcome and that's cool.

  • Dan, Thanks so much for posting these vids. I've been drumming for 28 years and since I found your youtube channel, I've FINALLY learned all the things I wanted to and should have learned YEARS ago!!

Thanks for the explanations accompanied by the visuals and multi-angles. Seriously, I don't think you even realize how well you're explaining things when you make these vids.

You're inspiring people to improve their drumming, great work!!

  • These are really great lesons. Sadly, I've never been a rudimentry drummer.

  • @TheDrumChannel What I find interesting is that I can do the same licks in single stroke and make them sound almost the same. I should have joined the drum corp wjem I was a kid.

  • @TheDrumChannel

I wasn't in drum corp either

  • I could watch your videos all day. Keep em coming

  • Thanks!

  • Excellent showing! Thank you!

  • not gonna lie this is probably the first time i ve seen someone use the concept of "rudiments around the drumset" in a really cool interesting fashion.

  • @GrooveDrummin Any tips for making your double stokes sound as powerful and consistent as the singles?

  • Wow!! I see something here that I do quite a bit and you have helped me take it further and relax more! Good job too man! Nice and smooth! What the weight on your sticks Dan? Lately I have been using the Carmine Appice signature sticks after he gave some of us a pair at a lesson he did for us. There a little heavy. I practice the Tommy Aldridge stick twirl method. Im getting better! Your sticks look fairly light. "?"

  • @AldridgeHalenFreak

    5A, thanks a lot!

  • @GrooveDrummin NO, Thank you!! ;p)

I was telling a friend at work about you too and how I have learned some chops from you. My friends son here plays drums and he was also listening and he said his school teacher at his school has told his class about you. This Kid knew who I was talking about! Your famous Dan! But seriously, Not to sound weird on ya,I think your the best Non Legendary drummer I have seen here. You have helped me the most!

  • @AldridgeHalenFreak

It's comments like these that inspire me to create more material. Thanks, it means a lot!!!

  • awesome playing. sounds great.

  • They are called Paradiddle-diddles.

  • @Volentry

Yes, that's right, i was trying to think of a catchier name for it but I guess I should have just call it as was already named. Anyway, this is a very useful stroke and it is my intention to share this one especially because I think it's a very important one to know.

  • @GrooveDrummin Very important indeed! You might wanna put up videos of the paradiddle variations Ian Paice uses, I'm interested and I think many people would be interested to know about it as well!

And thanks for your lessons. You have AMAZING and as far as I can see, flawless technique and execution. Great work man.

  • Great video Dan!! I can see the Ian Paice finesse with the John Bonham thunder in your playing!!

  • love all your videos and i also like that you take time and hardwork into these videos big fan ive got alot better just watching these while sitting behind the kit

  • I use this same 6 stroke/diddle a bit different. I put the 1 (R) on the rack tom and the floor tom. I play the rest of the notes as ghost notes and the 1 as an accent on the toms. Rack tom (1), snare hits, Floor tom (1), snare hits... and repeat it throughout. I picked up this same lick from 'Bonzoleum'.

  • Thanks for the lessons, Dan. I think I speak for everyone when I say they're extremely helpful, and we all appreciate them very much. They're not the conventional lessons. That's what I love about them. Your upstroke kick lick helped a lot, and I even use a variation of it for an original song in my band... it's a bit like 'Four Sticks', but not nearly as cool. Thanks again, Dan! Keep them coming!!

PS. You look a bit like Bam Margera's dad.

  • @Who2Are1You

I'm glad to have been of help but who is Bam?

  • Except no where near the weight!

  • PARADIDDLE DIDDLE \m/

  • man i just love your channel hope i can reach this level some day
