However this place is a shithole compared to some bigger cities. I lived in LA from about 3-4 to for years and it's awesome lots to do. It can be a little dangerous but not that much. I was born in Guadalajara, Mexico another beautiful and modern city. Lots to do as well. Overall I prefer big cities.

EVERYTHING here is 1000 miles apart. Exp. 400,000 people, 1 BestBuy, 1 public golf course (overpriced) lowest hs grad rate, top five highest teenage pregnancy rate. It sucks

Bakersfield isn't as bad as people say. Compared to my hometown of LA, the crime in Bako is more centralized. In LA, its everywhere. My morning commute in LA was about 2 hours. Bakersfield, 20 minutes. The only thing I can complain about is the heat in summer, but Ive even got used to it. I love the car culture here. Living in the SW feels nice and open. LA was too congested & my kids love the parks here. I do miss the beach, but its just a few hours away. There are much worse places to live.

Bakersfield got it's name from a farmer named Baker. People would come to town and park in Bakersfield. It is called Nashville West because the best country music stars in the world came from there. Buck Owens & Don Rich, Merle Haggard and many more. It's the home of real "Chickin Pickin." Oil fiels and farm fields surround it. It is hot and windy in the summer and foggy in the winter. I lived there 40 years ago when new country stars play in supermarket parking lots. It was sweet
To go to Bakersfield High School meant fighting blacks every day. That is all I learned there, how to fight really well. It has servered me well all my life. After 4 years of fighting blacks every day, I finally got my diploma in self defense. Now, after I whoop some idiots ass, I show him my diploma. You can't get a GED in that. @tickyul I'm from Deigo. My father was an engineer working on the Salt River Project, so we had to move up there for 5 years. Logan Heights was the place, in Deigo, back in my day. I wouldn't go near any of it now. They are afraid to duke it out. Every one wants to shoot it out. That ain't for me. That's why I live way up in the north country, in the mountains. @tickyul I'm from Deigo. My father was an engineer working on the Salt River Project, so we had to move up there for 5 years. Logan Heights was the place, in Deigo, back in my day. I wouldn't go near any of it now. They are afraid to duke it out. Every one wants to shoot it out. That ain't for me. That's why I live way up in the north country, in the mountains. Don't have to look at anyone if I don't want to.
And yes, back then, you could have filmed a Tarzan movie at Bakersfield High.

@magprob It is sad, much of San Diego is just crap. If you live south of the city it is like living in Mexico, go into a lot of stores and they do not speak english. Then If you go to Southeast San Diego it is screwed up and you have to put up with you know who, they are just savages for the most part. North San DIego is nice for the most part......but, lots of money to buy a house. I am amazed that this country has fallen to this point, probably 10 million illegals just in California.

whats bad about B town.... ok here goes,,,,first...city and county corruption, Lots and lots of gay people in power who are still in the closet, the DA is my neighbor and he has lots of his gay buddies over who dont think we know they are gay and corrupt. the traffic signals are so out of sinc in this city, you cant go block to block without stopping. This only benifits the auto repair industry. They say it helps the local economy. Lots of police corruption an both city and county forces.
